  • databeast, on 01/09/2009, -1/+7As much as I wanted to like SL, it never delivered on its potential, and certainly delivered on the less desirable aspects. The engine is now archaic, LindenScript never delivered its proposed common runtime.

    Speaking as someone that used to own land in SL back in the early days, I am honestly surprised to see an SL article on Digg, I thought SL was pretty much considered as good as dead, and SL escorts? this is not in any way news. its (unsurprisingly) one of the oldest business models in SL.

    The last time, I went to the NASA island/area... There, there was a live feed of Discovery docking with the ISS.

    This girl was painstakingly watching the feed, and encouraging all conversation about space discovery. Meanwhile a tatted couple were grabbing each others genitals nearby.

    They weren't really paying attention to anyone, or anything really, but the girl watching the docking feed was getting real upset with them.

    Between the two flirting off to the side, and the girl angrily wailing at them to stop... My eyeball twitched and I logged off, I'll open it again in 2011 and see what other aberrations of society have found their way over there.

Cybering, hentai, adult videogames, and phonesex just don't seem at all interesting or arousing. I really don't see how anybody could want to pay for this.

  • Tatertodd, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5I've spent a good bit of time in Second Life. Its a completely dynamic, 3D "world" and most of the content is user created -- including avatars and clothing. . So, with the exception of a few activites that had to be outlawed (such as gambling), there really is no limit to what you can do. Now I'm not into the.. ahem.. adult activities in SL (which seem to get all the press) but there are tons of things like live concerts, were real folks perform in various venues. Thats my favorite part of it. Also quite a few universities and companies have a presence there. Its free, so it won't hurt to check it out sometime.
