- bigp3rm, on 10/31/2009, -4/+33I dunno why there is so much hate for WoW. If you don't like it don't play it. For me it has the most replay life of any MMO I have ever played. I have played all the big ones since Ultima Online. You can level a different class and gear him out decent enough to have some fun with. Currently I am gearing my disc priests for PVP and having a blast while I raid with my DK. If you don't like the game move on. Easy enough?
- Zoshx, on 10/31/2009, -1/+29I, for one, am looking forward to camping every Worgen with a name related to Twilight.
- smord, on 11/01/2009, -4/+29Story about WoW on digg = opportunity to cry like a bitch about how much you hate WoW.
- tekian, on 10/31/2009, -1/+20The engine has been expanded upon with each expansion. The "cartoon" look of WoW isn't just to allow it to be played on low-end computer's. That's the game's style. Compare 1 zone from vanilla, BC, and WotLK. It's a step forward each expansion. Especially in WotLK, which has seen the addition of new shaders, hi-resolution armor, and expanded environments. Cataclysm will bring more changes.
- ladyleelee, on 10/31/2009, -2/+15underwater mounts? sweeeeet
- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -3/+14yeah, new content should be new content, not old content with extra fur and a blue tint because it's a snowy zone.
- mason092, on 10/31/2009, -2/+13WoW looks pretty good on ultra settings. Not realistic, but good in a cartoony way.
- IxWin, on 11/01/2009, -0/+10Uhhh..... I DIDN'T cancel my account, and I am DOING something productive, I guess win win for me?
- inactive, on 11/01/2009, -0/+9By "hate" you mean "secret love which I don't want other people to know about so I'll pretend to hate it on the interwebs"?
- ChrisZion, on 11/01/2009, -0/+8I have the name Terryworgen and Worgenfreemen saved on my server already!
- cigawoot, on 11/01/2009, -1/+8I fail to see why World of Warcraft needs excellent graphics to be a good game.
- ripple123, on 11/01/2009, -0/+6your like those non smokers who tell smokers they really shouldnt smoke. no one likes those people.
- IxWin, on 11/01/2009, -0/+6SUBMARINES!!! Holy crap, It just popped in my head, Underwater Goblin Submarines, that would be badass!!!
- Avaseal, on 10/31/2009, -1/+6And if you quit WoW and want to sell your accounts, do it soon before the forced battlenet conversion is in effect
- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -15/+20Let me guess - more of the same exhausted character models re-skinned with different colors and introduced as new monsters.
- Aldaron07, on 10/31/2009, -3/+7Sounds cool, but so did WotLK.
- bigp3rm, on 11/01/2009, -0/+4So what 10 man Hard mode raids have you finished?
- mason092, on 10/31/2009, -1/+4Oh no, you are being forced to take 5 minutes out of your day and make a free account on battle.net!
- Aldaron07, on 11/01/2009, -5/+8There is so much hate for the game because the design decisions over the past year have been disappointing to many.
Reusing gear models, pathetically easy raid content that is buggy from being released too early and not lasting the six month lifespan each tier is supposed to have, stat inflation after telling the playerbase they will never allow it to happen, etc.
It's pretty much new development team management making the same mistakes from the base and last expansion all in one. A large portion of people already stopped playing and moved on. - christianw, on 11/01/2009, -0/+3I <3 WoW
- phydeaux70, on 11/01/2009, -2/+5I'll admit, I'm intrigued. But after 4+ years and raid after raid, just to see Blizzard make gear available to any person who wants to run 5 man dungeons, I think my days of WoW are over. After the achievement system was put in place, and saving close to 30K of gold, I just don't see how any of this will be enough to actually make me play the game again.
So sad...but I'll wait for Diablo 3 to come out. WoW is and was the king of MMOs and it's a great game, but any longer it isn't something you can just pick up and play and be competitive at. - nortel, on 11/01/2009, -1/+4Sounds like you joined a cult?
- rilus, on 11/01/2009, -0/+2@megalomaniacal,
That's wrong. They do enforce naming policy in nonRP servers. They still don't allow offensive, racist, insulting, and other names in any server. The only thing they don't enforce in nonRP servers is names that like xXxMalfurionxXx, Leggollazzz, etc. - strangewill, on 11/01/2009, -0/+2Team Fortress 2?
You can keep the feel, but make it look oh so much better. - inactive, on 11/01/2009, -0/+2So, having fun isn't productive? Unless of course, you weren't having fun. Then good riddance.
- damack, on 11/02/2009, -0/+2Link your character so I can see your easily obtained gear from Trial of the Grand Crusader 25 man or Ulduar 25.
People just like bitching if the game was that awful it wouldn't have 13 million subscribers.
A few morons whining doesn't really mean a lot. - twiztidsinz, on 10/31/2009, -1/+3So.... just make a FREE Battle.net account tied to a newly made FREE email like gmail.
You can always change the email address that Battle.net uses later on and I believe even merge Battle.net accounts. - megalamoniacal, on 11/01/2009, -0/+2Seems it is you, ripple, who has been "bbuuururrriiriieieieeeddddeeedddd"
- tekian, on 10/31/2009, -2/+4I agree. Out of every MMO, WoW has had the most replay value. Hence why I'm disappointed I can't find another MMO to pull me away from it. Leveling a new character the 6th time around is now starting to wear me thin. Don't get me wrong, WoW's awesome. It's just now it's become a grind of "get x amount of badges/points/honor/characters" for me. Hopefully Cataclysm will change that with Path of the Titans.
- Jumpyjman, on 11/02/2009, -0/+2TV series=/= Movie, there is only so much intellectualism you can put into an hour and a half.
- tekian, on 10/31/2009, -1/+2Unfortunately, no. Can't merge Battle.Net accounts. Nor would making a free one be feasible if you're looking to sell the entire account. Can't transfer accounts. Only characters. So..
$19 + Expansions to set up the game on the new account.
$25 per Character
And then the actual cost of the character from whichever overpriced gold/account selling site you buy it from.
Plus you got to wait for 30 days to do any type of transfers on a new account, I believe. Safe to say Blizzard made a good move on disabling the selling of accounts. Of course, a hole will be found eventually, most likely. - nortel, on 11/01/2009, -4/+5it's new to me.. dduuggggggeeeeedddddd
- SoulGrub, on 11/01/2009, -0/+1Two points about recycled models.
1. More unique models and textures = more computer resources required. More ram, more hard disk space, more preloading and in-game loading times. With the 3rd expansion coming and probably more on the way plus content patches, they need to minimise resources used. Dalaran, for example, is slow enough as it is.
2. What's one other game that has more unique models than wow? - inactive, on 11/09/2009, -0/+12.) space invaders.
- omgwolf, on 11/01/2009, -1/+2Exactly, until MMO's come out and people stop saying "WoWKiller" it will never stop.
- GregLoire, on 10/31/2009, -4/+5And it is.
- gnomeh, on 10/31/2009, -3/+4That idea worked so well for Everquest /s
I think more people still play EQ than EQ2 - cigawoot, on 11/01/2009, -1/+2What WoW lacks at the endgame is a good amount of "medium difficulty" raid content. Trial of the Champion is stupid easy on normal, and ***** insane on heroic. Blizzard should not be tuning raids to the point where its welfare epics, and instead tune normal modes to the mid progression raid guild. Being able to pug ToC25 and have half the raid die on Anub'arak due to getting impaled in phase 2 and still defeat him is retarded.
- damack, on 10/31/2009, -2/+3No World of Warcraft sucks my opinion is just fact and if I think something sucks it has got to be true for everybody!
/s
I wouldn't worry about public opinion too much nowadays. I was convinced the world was ***** when I saw the box office total for Transformers 2 in comparison to Star Trek.. what a world we live in.. - Ahmon, on 10/31/2009, -2/+3This really is surprising to me. There's a few no-name games that are doing exactly that. Why not WoW?
- pfhayter, on 10/31/2009, -7/+7Bitter?
- ripple123, on 11/01/2009, -4/+4thats because your a iiiididididididiiooototototootttt
- megalamoniacal, on 11/01/2009, -1/+1The filter program is only used on RP servers for the sake of maintaining true RP. Naming Policy isn't enforced on normal and PVP services.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/01/2009, -2/+2First, the game's 5 years old, it looks great for being 5, but that's it.
Second, the art on the items is what my complaint is. Look at robes, belts, and pants. You'll see what I see, which is a 2d texture on a 3d item, it looks stretched out and blocky. - Ahmon, on 11/01/2009, -1/+1It doesn't. Then again, we don't need graphics at all to have good games. Given the tools, however, why not be progressive?
- christianw, on 11/01/2009, -1/+1ansiotropic filtering plus fsaa ( good fsaa not the built in, like edge detect on ati cards with transparency fsaa and this game looks great)
- Aldaron07, on 11/01/2009, -2/+1Don't get me wrong, the game can still be fun, raiding especially. But you have to wonder what was going on when they decided putting four separate raid lockouts on a single room with five bosses was a good idea to keep players interested.
In the wild everyone just does it, grabs the loot, and heads back to Ulduar for the rest of the week or jumps on an alt for Naxx. -
