It's obviously Wrath of the Lich King, on which they were working simultaneously as Starcraft II, you really think they were also simultaneously working on Diablo 3?         I wouldn't mind Diablo 3 as much as the next guy, but yeah, it's just not gonna happen.

      My bet is the release date for WoTLK.

      Or (and I'm being really far fetched here) it's the announcement of WC4 (the story would continue from the point where Arthas becomes the Lich King), which would be...ridiculous after announcing SC2 just a year earlier.

      So no...settle down people, it's just the WoTLK.

Blizzard no doubt has their dedicated team on WoW, another team working on Starcraft 2, another working on Diablo 3, one working on Warcraft 4 and most likely even has a team working on WoW2.

Same ideas are in play: different classes with different abilities and different tech trees. Go on quests, level up, team up to beat dungeons.         I have fond memories of laying about me wildly with my staff of Ice Orb +2. Or similar.

        Solo play for everything. You can beat the entire game, and every dungeon, solo. You can't do any dungeons solo in wow. A lot of open world content requires grouping as well, and wow is one of the most solo friendly mmorpgs ever

        Better hack and slash action. If you want to mow down tons of enemies at once, then wow can't compare to diablo. Diablo you can gather up 100+ enemies and mow them all down at once.

        Darker atmosphere. The diablo universe is way, WAY cooler than the warcraft one imo

        Characters that can summon multiple creatures. If you love pet classes, then wow has a warlock or hunter, who each have only 1 pet (makes sense to keep from lagging in an mmorpg). On the other hand, go grab a diablo 2 necro with decent gear, and you can have a screen full of skeletons, skeletal mages, revives, and a golem. Hopefully some pet commands make it into diablo 3 for this :)

I know I spent at least that much time on D2 beforehand. In as many ways that you can say D2 < WoW, you can also say D2 > WoW. WoW, by nature, is sooooo ***** limited. Nothing you do in the world actually affects the world. Ever. MMO's are shallow in that manner. Everything has to be the same for everyone to be fair to everyone. D2's item system is >>>>>> than WoWs. D2 also has this plot thing going on - as well as the ability to play without having to be connected to a ***** server. I don't see the need to continue listing WoW's shortcomings...

      Diablo 2 = Large amount of enemies in small places with few teammates.

      A WoD *could* be fun, if it was a really dark world with a heavy, misty, evil atmosphere and a different style of game play then WoW and Diablo 2. It would need to change some things that were classic about Diablo 2 like being able to just run out into a dungeon and kick ass, which would likely bother people and change things from WoW like not being able to kill large enemies by yourself. It would be hard to pull off and it fills me with doubt though hear me out.

      Imagine, you were always a little nervous traveling in between towns by your lonesome, the darks shadows of trees lingering over you as you walk with the crunching of the dirt road under your boots. You hear the howl of a pack of wolves nearby and speed up slightly. The thought of an assassin silently creeping through the bushes nearby waiting for the perfect time to plunge a blade into the back of your neck never escaping you.
      You know it's another 15 minutes by foot before you reach the nearest town, unfortunately your horse had been killed in your recent encounter with what you could only describe as a "thing", a monster, yesterday evening. You're regretting starting out this walk at night so that you will be able to meet up with your friend the next day rather then making him wait because you are now bound to travel by foot.

      "I should have stayed at the inn, hell I'd rather have payed that fool running that boat to take me then be doing this" you think to yourself.

      Just then you notice the faint flickering glow of torches headed your way, you've left your's out and have been relying on the moonlight and your skilled ears to guide you rather then drawing attention to yourself.
      You hear them now, you can't make out what they're saying but you try.

      You hear a noise from behind you...

      A game where "leveling up" does not feel like a chore because you are always doing something and being challenged, you have more important things to worry about. Besides, it would take you years to hit level 100, a status of god-like players, you haven't even seen one and you've been playing for 6 months. Your skill in battle and decision making have gotten you where you are and decide how a battle will end, not some numbers.

      No damage points float over your enemies as you hit them, you know their health by how much of their body is covered in their blood, or how many limbs they have left, perhaps their intestines spilled out like a failed slinky.

      This game wouldn't feel like a game, it would feel like another WORLD, the World of Diablo.

      I obviously don't think the game will come anywhere near something like this but I like to imagine, I think a game like this would be ***** awesome though...

      Speaking in reality though I think Diablo 3 would be cool if they stuck to the style of the second, just got darker and more evil. Bird's eye view would be nice. Anyways I'm not getting my hopes up, just letting my imagination run wild.

        Plus, Dual SLI is kinda redundant, in which case can mean quad.. which means you will be buying 2 9800 GX2 video cards.

        Save your ***** money. Wow doesnt even require anything above a 8600 GT which is like 70$.. and i HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt Strarcraft 2 will be more graphically demanding than WoW.

But since its newer, I doubt they will use the WC3 engine, so they will make a new one. But since its blizzard, it will probably still be able to run on a p4 2ghz, 512mb ram and a card with 128mb and pixel shaders. Just slowly and craptastic.

Even doing so, you would need 3 SLI bridges to connect all 4 cars to eachother which doesnt even exist.

    Blizzard has this ***** figured out. To the letter. Using no more than some JPEGs, they have got you all in a trance. People's copies of Photoshop are working overtime, we're finding runes, hell we're seeing stuff that isn't even in the image. Without so much as a word from Blizzard. No hype. No press release. Just some JPEGs.

    The evidence is starting to stack up against me, but I'm still holding out for Rock and Roll Racing World Tour.

      It is a pretty ingenious campaign. But it shows that Blizzard knows their target market very well, the power of the internet and viral marketing / advertising, and how to create an unprecedented amount of buzz. So far it's very well played / executed.

      Although, I'm placing my bets on Blizzard just aiming for the biggest Rick Roll ever.

All they need to do is put up a mysterious image, throw in some other cool stuff and maybe post on one fan board, anonymously, that people should "check out the Blizzard site - something weird is going on." That's it. No ad buys on other websites, no commercials, no print ads. Some planning, an image or two and an anonymous post on a fan site. Digg and other social sites just make it that much easier to get the word out.

All they've done was create a series of incredibly well balanced, well designed and meticulously crafted games that has earned them one of the best reputations in gaming. Starcraft is a masterpiece of balance and differentiation, and has arguably the most accomplished storyline in all of RTS gaming. Diablo and Diablo 2 took the hack and slash RPG to its peak, and has not been bested after 7 years (if you consider LoD). World of Warcraft took the MMORPG formula, combined it with a signature Blizzard polish and turned it into the most successful MMO of all time.

        Oh, and they took the idea of viral marketing and turned it into a damn cottage industry.

        I wonder what your definitions of original and meaningful, and what actually meets those criteria.

    And in my theory Blizzard wouldn't Launch Diablo 3 when they are gonna put everything they have behind StarCraft II. Which I can't wait to play as the Terran again.
