So now it's a slightly prettier jungle... Am I the only person that thinks improving the graphics in Crysis is pointless? Graphics were the only thing Crysis got right! The story was dull, the gameplay was so-so, and the AI flipped between brain-dead and omnipresent.
I wish they'd stop releasing these tech demos before they add some gameplay... mostly because I keep buying them (and the new graphics cards to go with them)
After reading past Crysis, the reasons for tastiness on about half of them are 'it's the game you bought last year, but without the bugs!' so I'll add quality to the list of things they need to start adding to games before release. - ifruit, on 08/11/2008, -3/+52GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 !!!!! The problem with PC shooters is that developers often neglect the innovative gameplay elements in favor of graphics. Oh well, that's probably why 99% of my time is spent playing TF2 these days. The mod community plus the constant official updates makes for solid gameplay that never gets boring and always requires learning new tricks.

No other shooter - not even Valve's shooters, which I absolutely adore - provides as much variety in both gameplay and environments, or as much freedom and opportunity to do what you want. While the last couple levels were less than impressive on a gameplay level (though still mindblowing technically), levels like Assault and the couple after it were FPS nirvana. But that would require two of the world's fastest super computer clusters (once as a processor, one as a GPU) powered by the LHC.

Hell I couldn't run it even close to max settings (I was running mostly medium/low on 1024x768), and it was still fun. The game isn't perfect, but it's a solid 8/10 in my book. I wish it could've been as long as Far Cry though.
