- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -0/+20He was one of the originals who really made the professional. It is sad to see his passing but is good that he lived twice as long as wrestlers are today.
- Zachari, on 08/31/2008, -2/+20Props to one of the last wrestlers who'll live past 55.
- FunkyMan, on 08/31/2008, -0/+14Definitely a classic, classy wrestler. My grandfather (who was a wrestling nut) loved him. RIP
- bobbymoney, on 08/31/2008, -0/+11Super Bummer.
I'd never heard of Killer Kowalski before, but about 5 years ago my Dad came home from some conference and said he had a surprise for me. He was all excited about it, and handed me the autographed picture of Kowalski. I didn't have much of a reference as to how important he was to wrestling, but my Dad, who was far from a wrestling fan, still spoke about him with such excitement and reverence. He also said he was a really nice guy and was very happy to be meeting people and signing autographs.
I still have the picture. It has survived 3 moves and numerous "should i keep this?" moments. Now I'm incredibly glad I kept it. The more i learn about Kowalski's life, the more sad I am at his passing.
RIP - KenSPT, on 08/31/2008, -4/+14I'm not Digging you down for religion, I'm Digging you down because that's as classless a comment as one could make ...
- catfish182, on 08/31/2008, -0/+9Kowalski was really interesting as he played the "heel" so well that he could travel from wrestling territory to different wrestling territory and he got the same amount of heat. In the days with no internet and wrestling getting little coverage people knew him. Some feared him.
Wrestlers did not like to have a match with him as he worked stiff to make the match look as real as it could.
He also is credited with training Triple H (he trained more but HHH has been his best student) who is a current WWE champion aside from being married to the bosses daughter.
- gymbrall, on 08/31/2008, -1/+5then nothing is news because stuff happens all the time.
- paker, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4R.I.P. Killer
- Lunarsight, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4Ditto.
My grandfather used to watch him back in the day.
He's left quite a legacy, with the long list of wrestlers he trained. - csimpkins, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4I spent most of my childhood getting attacked by my father with the Kowalski Claw. He loved this guy. Sad day, but at least it brought back some memories.
- obliviousfool, on 08/31/2008, -1/+4Stella!
- JeyNyce, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3Some of the wrestlers wouldn't be half as good if it wasn't for him and teaching them. R.I.P
- Oddjobber, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2A lot of wrestling legends have been passing away the past few years (either that or I'm actually recognizing a lot of their names), including Stu Hart and Lou Thesz. R.I.P. Interesting to note just how many famous alumni were from Kowalski's wrestling school: Triple H (edit: catfish182 beat me in noting him), Chyna, Big John Studd, and Frankie Kazarian (TNA): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_Kowalski
- funnick, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2He also trained Perry Saturn!!!
Man I miss the real ECW. - rlh1, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2Kowalski must be a good wrestling name.
We had a Crusher Kowalski in Salt Lake City in the 60's. - tafkase7en, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2For those who don't know, Kowalksi trained Triple H.
- graemee, on 08/31/2008, -1/+3He's in heaven giving Jesus the chair, The chair!

- Princeamor, on 09/09/2008, -0/+1Why do people like wrestling that much anyway?
- leetninja, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1I can't even begin to imagine having to make that kind of decision with life support. I went to school with his daughters one of which was in my classes. The family was very nice. I have even spent some time at their house on occasion as it was up the street from mine and his daughter and I knew eachother and did projects together in high school - i wasnt complaining lol. All the kids knew him since he was a wrestler. Really genuinely nice guy. He was a big community guy. Will definitely be missed.
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1The man later known as "Killer Kowalski" (he legally changed his name in 1963) was born Edward Walter Spulnik on 13 October 1926. The son of Polish immigrants, he and his brother Stanley were raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Years later, he would tell interviewers that he never expected to be a wrestler. By the age of 14, he was already 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm), and because he was skinny for his height, he began working out at the local YMCA, but he had no plan to go into athletics at that time. When he entered college, his major was electrical engineering. He worked part-time at the Ford plant in Detroit to help pay his way.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hOw3Xp3vfg - grapfx, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1I could watch that over and over. To some over the years, wrestlers were just like comic book superheroes and rockstars.
- babyheadout, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1Sad that I only learned about him by watching Seinfeld (The Parking Lot episode)
- JackSchittt, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1RIP.
At least he lived a full life and died of natural causes, instead of dying prematurely like so many other wrestlers recently. :-( - mhmdkhamis, on 10/30/2008, -0/+0 can't even begin to imagine having to make that kind of decision with life support.
