Wrestlers Want A Chair...They Get It watch!
view.break.com — I don't like wrestling, but it's moments like these that make me wanna watch sometimes. I guess it's that wrestling is too real for me. :-D ("Do not throw chairs into the ring." Ummm, a little late for that, huh?!)

- EccentricCdn, on 07/17/2008, -1/+11Looks painful though.
- EccentricCdn, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3Maybe foam chairs would have been better.

- jjb123, on 07/17/2008, -12/+4http://www.instantrimshot.com/
- thestranger, on 07/17/2008, -3/+12It was not staged at all. That was some old school ECW. That's how their fans were. They kinda staged similar events like this, following this event, with many "fans bring the weapons" matches, but this was not staged.
- diothar, on 07/18/2008, -6/+2@jjb123: Too bad that's not an instant rimjob
- jjb123, on 07/18/2008, -0/+10I thought he was making a pun.
- spkrcity, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Not staged. Mick Foley talks about this event in his book. I read it 10 years ago, but this is the first time I ever saw the actual video.
- supermanred, on 07/18/2008, -2/+2Not staged. Old school ECW. Most of the wrestlers (and the crowd) were drunk stoned and on coke...and ***** happened for real most of the time... a lot of going off script in old ECW...too bad Vince McMahon bought ECW.
- strypersarmy, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5or was it?
- blinkatron, on 07/17/2008, -1/+7This is the only thing that has ever made me want to attend a “professional” wrestling match. Ever.
- solid12345, on 07/18/2008, -5/+7Wrestling is nowhere near as choreographed and staged as the Super Bowl.

- jreinstedler, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3could have easily been staged...
- TwoKill, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5Looks staged to me, one guy at the bottom threw 5 chairs.
- exonyte, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4Maybe he's just very persistent!
- iFrikkenR, on 07/18/2008, -14/+16I hate fags who moan about wrestling being staged.
No ***** it's scripted, coreographed and all the rest. You know movies and tv shows are scripted too right?
You know what else? Movies and TV shows get to shoot and reshoot not only stunts but everything else until it's perfect. I'm not even a wrestling fan but you really do have to give these guys credit, they get up there and act infront of an enormous live international audience, pulling off amazing physical feats with NO second takes.
Scripted or not, that's pretty impressive.- etherreal, on 07/18/2008, -6/+1While they are talented acrobats....scripted wrestling is still very very very berry lame.
- 437gone, on 07/18/2008, -5/+0You like wrestling lol...
- BobTheTaco, on 07/18/2008, -2/+13WRESTLING IS STAGED?!?!?!?
- limpl0uie, on 07/18/2008, -7/+5Yes, wrestling is staged. But, you can't fake gravity. So falling off a ladder is falling off a ladder. Getting hit with a steel chair is getting hit with a steel chair. And most of the time the blood is real.
- calebh, on 07/18/2008, -5/+2Thats why they always switch the camera right before the guy hits the other guy with a chair.
- Cowboy1015, on 07/18/2008, -2/+1you think so?
- mehrdotcom, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1That's dangerous, in the butt !!!
- EccentricCdn, on 07/17/2008, -1/+11Looks painful though.
- qpingu, on 07/17/2008, -21/+55I like the guy on the left who attempts to pretend that wrestling is real by taunting, only to get knocked out by a stray chair. The look he gives is classic.
- kingatrock, on 07/17/2008, -8/+29Its Terry Funk and he did a fake flop to get out of the way dummy. Look it up.
- ruddy, on 07/17/2008, -2/+34yeah r-tard, it's only common f'n knowledge
- ligyron, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1Why would a hardcore championship wrestler know anything about "fake flopping"?
- HoratioHellpop, on 07/17/2008, -4/+6The look he gives is scripted. *****.
- Jaryd2006, on 07/17/2008, -0/+22Except for the fact it was a full 2 seconds after he got hit that he falls down........
- Opeth1, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4I was thinking the same thing qpingu. The look on his face is priceless as he feigns being knocked out. Bwahahahhahah.
- algaeturd, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Because it's acting, dude. He was ACT-ING. Those guys really take hits and they take hard ones but they are actors and they're acting...that's why it looks so funny because it's so fake.
- spkrcity, on 07/18/2008, -7/+5That's Terry Funk and the injuries he's received and inflicted are very real.
Show some respect.- etherreal, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1lol....NOT.
- cheappop, on 07/18/2008, -3/+3You will find that it is difficult to stage many things. The most prominent of which is pain. Terry funk has an incredibly broken down body from years of abuse. His knees are so bad, that he shouldn't be walking, yet he gives everything for his fans.
- tama00, on 07/18/2008, -7/+1ouch a little wooden chair hit me. Im so injured by this that my body will react 2 seconds later by somehow going stiff like a pole and flop to the ground neatly out of the way from any chairs. Then due to amazing wrestling physics i will roll slightly to the right forcing my arms to cover my head.
- SolituSneiku, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4there was one match once where they stacked like 10 tables up in the air and crashed all the way down, ***** was bad ass...and then fell on chairs
- DentThat, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1I like how he sticks his hand out from underneath the rubble of chairs. Very cartoon-ish
- kingatrock, on 07/17/2008, -8/+29Its Terry Funk and he did a fake flop to get out of the way dummy. Look it up.
- elscorcho717, on 07/17/2008, -0/+148At the very last second, the wrestler that was for most of the video buried on the left throws one of the folding chairs straight up and really hard but they don't show how it lands. I wonder if it hit anyone.
- DeathWish808, on 07/17/2008, -2/+27I believe that Karma carried that chair through the air and smacked the guy in the head who threw it. :-D
- RATM4EVER, on 07/17/2008, -3/+77Nah, probably landed in the aisle where they make their entrance...it's usually on that side.

I was really into it when I was a teenager, stopped watching altogether when I went to college, and now watch at least a half hour of Raw every month for old times sake. Either I'm getting older and more mature or maybe it sucks now, but I don't like it like I used to.

- EvilJelloMan, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6*****' A. Those were great times, crammed into that sweltering, stinking ***** to watch a bunch of guys literally bust their asses to entertain you. The interaction between the fans and the wrestlers made ECW something truly special, and that will never be captured again.
ECW is dead. Long live ECW.- lewikee, on 07/17/2008, -2/+4I don't think you understand what the phrase "X is dead. Long live X" means. You can only use that when whatever died is immediately replaced by something almost exactly like it.
Hence why people would say "The king is dead. Long live the king." There was a new king that assumed powers immediately upon the death of the previous one.
In the case of ECW - as you pointed out yourself - the interaction between fans and wrestlers will never be captured again. This is a thus a poor case to warrant the use of that phrase. - EvilJelloMan, on 07/17/2008, -2/+2The phrase was also used to signify the commercial success of Elvis after his passing, and in that sense I feel it's relevant. ECW is dead, but true classic ECW nostalgia continues to be a commercial success. Look at the One Night Stand PPV's and The Rise and Fall of ECW. ECW is dead but it will live on in the memories of the fans. So, while it's not the historical meaning of the phrase, I only thing it still pertains to the situation, unless you're a pedantic prick.
And really, does it make sense to be a pedantic prick about an organization where people were hit with flaming baseball bats and had dollar bills stapled to their foreheads?

Actually, he's probably making a pile of money so I guess he does know better- jeremyosborne81, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Agreed.
Greed and wealth is the only thing that governs McMahon's reasoning any more. Much like any other republican.
- jeremyosborne81, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Agreed.

- TheLastEskimo, on 07/17/2008, -1/+3OMFG that was hilarious.
Did the guys who scripted the fight really not see that happening?- EvilJelloMan, on 07/17/2008, -0/+11Entire matches are often not scripted, just the major points. Especially the old ECW, where the talents were often told the basic story that they were supposed to tell in the ring, and they used their creative talents to put together the matches. I doubt terry funk calling for chairs was scripted, and I SERIOUSLY doubt they expected the massive orgy of chair-chucking that ensued.
If all you've ever seen in the ridiculous hulk hogan nonsense from the 80's, you're justified in thinking wrestling is completely corny scripted kiddy stuff, but talented wrestlers combined with intelligent booking can produce a really entertaining product.- jeremyosborne81, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Dugg for somebody who knows the business.
Most of the times nothing is specifically "practiced" for a particular match. Things are just "talked up" backstage before the match.

- SaintStryfe, on 07/17/2008, -0/+11I remember staying up till 1 AM to Watch ECW Hardcore TV on MSG. Going to ECW Arena was a pilgrimage and it was so worth it.
I tell you, I've seen a lot of shows in my time, televised and live, big and small, and that dinky bingo hall in South Philly had more character, more fun more genuine fun. It's one of the lessons Vince McMahon has never learned - people WANT to be connected. They don't want to watch Gods on the screen. - hurricanewane, on 07/17/2008, -10/+46Don't chair me, bro!
- jdh358, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4This is nothing compared to the old pitch fork and sledge hammer days
- supermanred, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3No, you should see the old ECW thumbtack matches with guys bleeding all over the place... no body suits or protective foam or whatever the WWE uses... just thumbtacks everywhere.
