Since when is buying in bulk a "dumb" move? Wholesale is the way to go if you're looking to save some...green. - elliotys, on 10/12/2009, -0/+13TYSON FTW!!!
- pisseddog, on 10/12/2009, -0/+13Tanya Harding?
- benjaminsumner, on 10/12/2009, -0/+12Maurice Clarett ruined his entire career before it started.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2009, -0/+9The Plaxico Burress parody video seems like it was retarded at first, but it didn't disappoint. I lol'd to say the least.
- STBAT25, on 10/12/2009, -0/+8Pacman Jones FTW.
- GnomeProfit, on 10/12/2009, -0/+8Plaxico shot HIMSELF and then had to go to jail. Ouch
3-way tie between Vick, OJ and Tyson - TBBucs, on 10/12/2009, -3/+9Turns out most of the white athletes aren't gun-toting, dog-fighting, ear-biting drunk drivers.
- whofarted, on 10/13/2009, -0/+6Lawrence Phillips. When he was with the Miami Dolphins Jimmy Johnson actually assigned two people to be with him 24/7 and he still ***** up. Women beater? check. Guns? check. Drugs? check. Assault? check. Driving your car into a group of kids on purpose? check. Could've been the best ever...
- trakie, on 10/12/2009, -0/+5FTA: "This six-time pro bowler was found with 213 pounds of marijuana in his van. Five weeks later, he was caught with 175 pounds of marijuana."
wow im impressed, he smoked 38lbs in 5 weeks! - MarkMontoya, on 10/12/2009, -1/+5While 'making it rain', I thought Eddie Griffin's submission deserves extra hype - he had previous run-ins with the law, drinking and drugs, and his epic death fail was one for the ages.
- SpazAttack5000, on 10/13/2009, -1/+5Shoeless Joe Jackson, seriously? Didn't they check his stats during that fixed world series? He was the best player for either team.
- ncapone, on 10/12/2009, -0/+4I'm watching the Naked Gun right now, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.
- sgvprelude, on 10/12/2009, -0/+4Delonte West for thinking he's Desperado.

What? - JoeHague, on 10/13/2009, -0/+3I saw Eddie play in the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship ten years ago. Needless to say he was amazing. He looked like a man amongst boys- Some of the best boys in the nation mind you. That night he was better than most NBA players ever are. I remember thinking, I could be watching a future Hall of Famer- that's how good he was.
He led his team to victory that night. A year later he was told to finish high school at home. A year later he was thrown out of college. A couple more years and he was in rehab. And a few years after that he was dead.
Eddie Griffin is the definition of stupid. If I could do anything half as good as Eddy could play basketball I would be changing the world. That kid was a ***** idiot/ - JCEEZ, on 10/12/2009, -0/+3The white guys on the list fixed games, mismanaged money, are alcoholics, have gambling problems or cheated.
Stereotypes are funny. - FarrahForever, on 10/12/2009, -0/+3The problem I'm noticing here is the distinction between dumb and crazy! So who is the dumbest and craziest athlete ever?
- tmacfan123, on 10/12/2009, -0/+3Plaxico Burress
- gsfgf, on 10/12/2009, -0/+2I'd say Marcus is even dumber. Mike's still (again) getting paid to play football.
- lik3ninja, on 10/13/2009, -0/+2Maurice Clarett, hands down.
- alexchiltonfan, on 10/12/2009, -0/+2Terry Bradshaw. An opponent of his once said: He couldn't spell 'cat' if you spotted him the 'c' and the 'a'.
- non00b, on 10/12/2009, -7/+9clearly a racist list, most of the athletes are black
- jeffshaught, on 10/12/2009, -0/+2Yeah, they're mostly just hicks.
- bubblub, on 10/13/2009, -0/+2Hester might actually be legitimately retarded.
- alex548, on 10/12/2009, -1/+3... but he won 4 super bowls so who cares. = )~
- StinkyWizlteats, on 10/13/2009, -0/+2No Rickey Henderson?
I recall one tough guy in the NHL was asked if he tried to talk John Kordic into a fight. His reply was something like "I can't. I don't speak cement." - gkiltz, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Some good candidates, yes, but remember two, that Baseball, at the professional level dates to the 1880s, and American Football as a professional Sport dates to the 1920s.
That long ago, you could walk the streets, without getting into legal trouble, and be so dumb, you would not even survive, let alone stay out of the slammer now days!
I think you need to look at some of the things that went on back then. Remember, a lot more things are illegal now! - falstaff, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1They don't call it the National Felons League for nothing.
- AeroZeppelin, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Owen Schmitt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjxI9OD3h3A - PhillyOC, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1O.J. is still in the Hall of Fame, isn't he?
Besides, O.J. was never nor could have ever been put on the same level as Pete Rose in their respective sports. I do not believe OJ even has a still-standing record, nonetheless records as great as Rose: He is the all-time Major League leader in hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053)[1], and outs (10,328).
And he threw it all away over gambling. He will never even make it into the Hall of Fame. - chicagojack, on 10/13/2009, -0/+170% of the NFL is black.....would make sense there are a lot of black players on the "dumbest athlete" list.
- clintonbaptiste, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1...then blew it all on nothing.
- TBBucs, on 10/12/2009, -0/+1But, more scientifically, black people are overrepresented in this particular sample, so you can't really get much from the results.
- tenbosch, on 10/12/2009, -0/+1The one leaning less to the left... And I don't mean politically.
- inactive, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Better video of it, though my reception was pretty bad in 1989.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI890FPB2Lc - caruso, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Mike Tyson. Wins this battle.
- Ratzaroony, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1OJ's the dumbest, but Maurice Clarett is a close second.
- Metadrew, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Being a criminal /=/ being dumb, there might be a correlation, but I'll have to go with misleading title.
- PhillyOC, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Whoever thought there was so many? Tough choices, but considering he could have been remembered on the same level as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, and other legends, I would have to say Pete Rose probably gave up the most in prestige.
- Brasky, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1How is this even a contest? Lawrence Phillips was the best running back ever. Period. Every coach he ever had said so. When he ***** up too much for the US he went over to Europe for a year and set every record then came back and ***** up some more. Could have had everything, just so stupid.
- hawksfan03, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Charles Rodgers (WR, Mich State) and mike williams (WR, USC) have to be up there as well.
- JCEEZ, on 10/12/2009, -0/+1Madden played for the Eagles before blowing out his knee.
While I admit that the last 5 or so years he's been kinda off, he's done more for sports commentating then anyone I can think of really. - RiperSnifle, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1I vote for Chris Simon for this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht6RyAI9370 - RiperSnifle, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1I want to know who that is...anyone?
- wilf_brim, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Rae Carruth. Didn't he ever hear of paying off pregnant girlfriends?
- tonydone, on 10/13/2009, -0/+1Shaq isn't on the list?
