- KDyneria, on 11/03/2009, -2/+52Why will Hamilton never get a NHL team?
...
Because if they got one, Toronto would want one too. - ennuisquared, on 11/03/2009, -0/+28Population, you.
- LihkinG, on 11/03/2009, -2/+21Eh?
- giveer, on 11/03/2009, -1/+19When they play the Leafs.
- eagles7977, on 11/03/2009, -2/+12Im a Leafs fan (obviously) that lives in Toronto and I think that all Toronto teams are bad and need to shape up.
- lroche, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9Isn't the Leafs winning the Stanley Cup a sign of the apocalypse or something?
- OmNomNomBACON, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9Hell, its been over 100 years for the Cubs. How do you think that makes me feel? =/
- kswanton, on 11/03/2009, -0/+8But what incentive do the leafs have to change? They sell out every game regardless of how poorly the team performs.
- RogerStrong, on 11/03/2009, -1/+9Going to a Leafs game is like going to a Billy Graham rally. Every few minutes, everyone stands up and yells, "JESUS CHRIST!!!!"
- mhollerb, on 11/03/2009, -1/+9The Maple Leafs are truly, truly awful. All 5 other Original Six teams are doing well. And then there's Toronto.
- Jeffler, on 11/03/2009, -0/+7Back to Back World Series >>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Pretty Good Run"
- tyne101101, on 11/03/2009, -1/+7It's not the interests in all sports fans in Toronto because the city is great overall for international sports, it's the winning and losing philosophy that is being brought to Toronto that the city just can't catch a break. The city deserves better than that.
- numbnick, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5Apparently the author of this article has never heard of Cleveland. The last professional sports team to win a league championship was the Browns in 1964.
- hakkola, on 11/03/2009, -1/+6Worst grammar in an article I have ever seen.
- draggy73, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5In the meantime, Montreal fans have seen quite a few Stanley Cups in the past 40 years, the Alouettes are a dominant CFL team year after year, and the Montreal Impact USL team won their championship and made a good showing at the CONCACAF last Spring!
They also were level headed enough to put the Expos out of their misery and not even entertain a Basketball team.. which probably ranks below curling in popularity! - Alli3388, on 11/03/2009, -2/+7Since when were the Habs doing well????

- Gr00ver, on 11/03/2009, -2/+6Eh?
- nepidae, on 11/03/2009, -1/+5I suggest cutting education funding to build new stadiums.
- Jeffler, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4Being a Leafs fan is 90% of the reason I'm in hiding on here. Okay, its not, but still, yikes.
On a bright note. KESSEL'S BACK TONIGHT! :D - heliumflash, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Eh. The Blue Jays weren't bad until everyone on the team got injured.
- lordmike, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3That's not funny! They stole that sign from the Cleveland Brown's training facility!
- hughesj919, on 11/03/2009, -2/+5C, Eh? N, Eh? D, Eh?
- JAVAnation, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3I'll be a Leafs fan till Balsillie inevitably brings a new team to southern Ontario.
- draggy73, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3"You're" as in referring to me? Someone from Toronto? Yeah, you got that one right.
- LordPhoenyx, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Maybe, but Chicago has gone longer without a Stanley cup than Toronto.
That's the only saving grace we have hockey wise!
Oh and we are not the cubs - chattin, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Joe Carter FTW!
- mccune, on 11/03/2009, -1/+4Yes, because the Red Wings, Pistons, and Tigers have been so bad for the past decade, right?
- Pimptastic, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3sure, throw the whole '61 cup in our face and follow up with a Cubs reference... At least we had the Bulls.
- Canadian007, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Why would management bother wasting resources in "shaping up" the team when they're the richest team in the league as it is? Being better won't make the team any more money so why bother? For the fans? the fans will support the Leafs regardless.
- ngmcs8203, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Wilson going to put him in goal too?
- tmanv, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Howard Berger?
- LordPhoenyx, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2someone had to
- Ustanik, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Hell freezing over
- JoeNaguib, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2I believe that happens just before the four horsemen.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2FTA: "It seems like their is only one was to describe such a city, and his poster says it all."
That's a hat trick of shamefully careless writing. I was half expecting the next sentence to be "Toronto's teams need to do way instain their owners who kill their team's chances, because their babby cant frigth back."
There's definitely a place in Loserville for whoever crapped out this article. - larkins1, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Joe Carter hit a pretty good home run right?
- cyberleader, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2The Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie kind of nailed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CF65H7j5Os&fea ...
- Jeffler, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Gustavsson is a fine goalie. Its just when Toskala gets within 300 feet of it that theres an issue.
- mccune, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2I came here to make this same comment. "Can there be a North American sports city that has suffered more disappointment than Toronto over the past decade or so? I doubt it." Try the last 50 years for Cleveland.
- 07dcolem, on 11/03/2009, -1/+3Eh?
- deboosher, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2MLSE had the money pre-salary cap, but they never truely invested in their team, with the exception of 92-95ish. Now that they have this cap, they can't invest like they used to. but it doesn't mater. Fans will still go. hell, I have 4 games this year I'm gonna see, but I'm not there for the Leafs.
- superkeer, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2My favorite teams are the Orioles, Capitals, and Wizards. Don't even start, Toronto.. don't even start.
- MarkMech, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Least you have an NFL team. :) Bring on the Toronto Buffalos!!
- loconet, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1at least the Indians have been in the playoffs several times lately..
- deboosher, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Ya man! The Sabres are doing really well! LET'S GO BUFFALO!
- deboosher, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1You got that right!
- deboosher, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1I am not a Leaf fan and I hate the ***** Red Wings!
- deboosher, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1The caps actually have the worst ever season record:
8-67-5
Finishing with only 21 pts.
Maybe in the next couple years if they can start building a team around Ovechkin. -
