- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+68I thought Vince blew up in a limo.
- maracle2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+36I though Vince handled himself very well, namely the question about the roid rage and WWE's statement
- BGog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+32I am NOT a fan of wrestling but I have to say that Vince handled himself very well in a rather hostile interview. It was like the reporter thought she could make him crack and kept prodding. She just came off looking like a fool.
- BlackStar77, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31Vince comes across as very intelligent in this video. I've only seen him playing a role in WWE programs my brother watches in which he comes across as a 'tard.
- thescott18, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19"Early death is considered an occupational hazard"?!? What a bitch! Early death is incredibly rare in the business. This is actually pretty incredible considering the amount of training and strain that these performers go through. I'd like someone to compare the death rate of pro wrestles with other professional sports or athletics.

reporter/journalist, I would think she's a disgrace to my career as a
journalists/reporter. Vince is right, this is no different than the
postal office tragedy. People snap, it's a fact of life. Meredith needs to grow up and stop trying to 'trick' people into admitting something that's not true... - GamerSDG, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19i had to post this i like how any thing happens in wrestling they blame Vince for it
- thegcinfo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I used to watch wrestling as a kid and a teenager and not much of a fan now but this interview reminds me why I have always loved Vince McMahon, then and now. It seems like Meredith Viera was trying to be an argumentative, word-twisting bitch and I actually like her. Vince came across very well-spoken and informative in this interview.
- InfoCollector, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14The ONLY PERSON OF BLAME is the person who commits the offense. Every person has free will, and when they choose wrongly, these are the things that happen
- Noctem, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I don't watch WWE, however, the guy has created a multi-million dollar empire out of fake, scripted 'entertainment'. He's anything BUT a tard, and an incredibly smart business man! (Check the ratings at zap2it.com - WWE quite often has the #1 cable show on monday nights)
- rodted2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7They didn't know it was a murder at that point. And when they found out they basically removed every reference to him from the wwe website and said they would not refer to him ever again during a broadcast. When he was found dead the police just told them that. and nothing else. So they dedicated the show to him. If you ask me that's commendable, they could have just continued as if nothing ever happened.
- rodted2, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8So what if steroids caused Chris to go wacko. There trying to say the WWE is to blame for that? I don't get. If that's the case then McDonald's is responsible for 95% of the US being disgusting fat slobs, the Internet for 40 year old virgins, cell phone manufacturers for cancer, woman for baldness, hookers for AIDS, and alcohol for all of the stupid people living in the world today. I hate people who act like there better then everyone else. Get with the program Vince McMahon is an ***** and Meredith is a stupid bitch. There you go, there just like every one else. AND I SWEAR TO GOD IF I SEE PARIS HILTON ON TV ONE MORE TIME I AM GOING TO SHOOT THE WHORE`!!!!!! Hay do you thank I can blame roid-rage?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3If you look at their little death factoid montage the flashed up there for a second, the blurb of British Bulldog had a picture of Owen Hart instead of the actual guy known as British Bulldog.
They obviously aren't as meticulous with their facts as they want you to think. - DiscoLoke, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The News has become stupid. They stopped doing interviews to find out "What happened?" and instead focus on trying to find a scapegoat or trying to make anyone they interview seem stupid.
That news bitch is stupid and should not be allowed to do interviews. I felt like I was watching a cheap ass Bill O'reilley with boobs. - AustinGoodchild, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3what type of news channel still uses the word 'retarded'? o_0
- elitexero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You know, I don't really like WWE or anything associated with it, I think it's crap, but Vince handled himself VERY well as a professional, and I think Merideth is a bitch for trying to bully him around when he's trying to deal with the situation. The questions she was throwing at him were ***** aimed to get him to slip up and say something that could be interpreted wrong.
- pillfred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2WTF is she doing on the Today Show? I suppose you could argue that she was just going for the facts, but it seemed like she definitely had her own idea's as to what went down and was trying push that notion. "In any way does pro wrestling contribute in the creation of monsters?" Thats about the lamest question ever. And it was a talking dog that drove the Son of Sam to kill. Of course they do, we all know teh Warrior was a true beast. Bitch please.
- indiephoenix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2First off, I'll admit that I'm not much of a pro-wresting fan nor much of a fan of CNN. However, in what was exhibited in this interview by Meredith Viera and Vince McMahon, I can't really fault either side for their actions. I think that some of the video cuts and audio cuts outside of the actual interview between both said individuals was skewed towards a particular perspective. Viera's questions seemed in line with that of a journalist and McMahon's responses were appropriate for a businessman surprised by the actions of an employee.
- bariswheel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2He never said that, asshat. He said all is mere speculation and no one knows anything for sure yet. He's trying to stop these armpit of humanity pretend-to-be journalist oxygen thieves from doing what they do best, spread lies and sensationalize a story to make a buck, especially in the expense of this poor family and their relatives. Absolutely ***** disgusting. Shame on your Meredith Vieira.
- slayerab, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Monday Night Raw can beat the ever loving ***** out of Daytime Millionaire, BTW
- tokyopimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I find it funny that some of you are making Mcmahon into the winner, or the intellectual superior to the interviewer.
He spins everything he is saying... the man is a ruthless business man, and their is no doubt of his intelligence and ability to make a crap load of money. But do you really believe he gives a crap if one of his superstar wrestlers does roids.... no I don't think so.
Point is, yes Mcmahon is not dumb, but he's also done this stuff for years, and knows how to spin an interview, and react to questions to make him look better. For instance, when he said "Well only 5 wrestlers under contract!" meaning under contract when they died... but nearly every wrestler of the 65 were at one point under his or the WWEs contract.
Spin my friends, Mcmahon knows how to deal with the media and the like, don't ***** kid yourselfs. - AustinGoodchild, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2a retarded one?
- Nick22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Are you kidding me? Do you even see how they punch and kick? Its blatantly obvious they arnt even actually hitting eachoither. And all those special moves, they are all set up so that they dont actually injure eachother. Ya they get hurt, ya they are really strong guys, but the entire show is fake.
- mdouet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2OMG, Vince is alive? M3GAT0N!!!11
- diggmeyoubitch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Where in the report did it say that all 60 wrestlers died "due to heart problems, suicide or ailments probably due to steroids"? Owen Heart fell to his death, and Kurt Henning ODed on cocaine. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but if you're going to be stating something as a fact, make sure it is one.
- smokewater, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1On roid rage, currently only 3 blinded studies have demonstrated a link between and aggression and steroid use, with estimates of over 1 million past or current steroid users in the United states, an extremely small percentage of those using steroids appear to have experienced mental disturbance severe enough to result in clinical treatments or medical case reports. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=8969015
- joemofo214, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5the story lines are fake, but the body slams, the moves they do are real. thats why some wrestlers resort to pain killers, to keep on making money.
- clickmyface, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Wow... way to pay respects to one of your best wrestlers, McMahon. Say it's unfortunate that he was part of your organization because you now have to face the responsibility of your demands on the wrestlers"
I think he was speaking to the fact that Benoit murdered his wife and child. I don't think Vince respects him at this point because of those actions. - dpknc84, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3@InfoCollector:
GamerSDG was being sarcastic... - BluFox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If you've ever studied eye patterns (body language) it would appear that Mcmahon was lying on many occasions in that interview. He's a business man, he's had to defend wrestling many times over the years because of steroids and other body enhancing drugs. His angle is calling Benoit a monster and that nobody ever suspected a thing. I'm not justifying what Chris Benoit did at all, but I'm positive that steroids and other drugs had a role in this tragedy.
- hipnerd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think her basic problem was that McMahon put out a statement saying that steroids were "definitely not involved" before there was any proof one way or the other. You can't assume that steroids were to blame, but you can't just rule them out. He had steroids at the house. We know he did steroids in the past according to his doctor. It's not an unreasonable theory to wonder if steroids played a role.
If McMahon wanted to show some class. he could have put out a statement of sympathy and just cautioned that the media shoul not jump to conclusions before the toxicology report came back. As it is, it looks like he was more concerned with covering his own as than honoring the dead. - zujik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The problem is most of the damage was done in the 1980s and early 1990s. It's good to see WWE is making a stand with it's testing but how many others are doing the same? WWE has even gone so far as pulling entertainers off the roster if they fail medical checks.
They are entertainers first and foremost, besides accidental injury there should be zero risk. WWE can't stop the damage that has been done but it can stop future events. Considering Benoit had a random test in April, maybe they should make it a little more common. Other then that, I can't see what else they can do but stop wrestling. - Emilio8605, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1It's no worse than how several players have died from playing pro football. People don't say it's an "occupational hazard" to play football.
- rodted2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1you have a point.
- DiscoLoke, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Umm, it's called the news... without someone to blame for everything there would never be a 24 hour news channel.
- diggmeyoubitch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0When he said "won't know until the toxicology report..." he was talking to the the people in the media who where saying that the murders were caused by roid rage. He never said that the toxicology report will tell us why Chris Benoit killed his family.
- dkforeva, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Meredith.... you're a tool
- mamawaldi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Who will be the next WWE Smackdown World Heayweight Champion since Batista lost his match and will not get a title shot and you know there is no way in hell Vince will allow Edge to maintain the belt since his "teary eyed" tribute Monday Night. Americans will not allow that to happen and he knows it.
- Whammo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1You can bet McMahon is scheming to make some money off this guys corpse as we speak...
- Fhwqhgads, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Notice how Vince never actually answered the question about if they would change their policy on the wellness centre if it turns out he was on steroids? He just goes on "This is a horrible tragedy blah blah blah." Yeah we know, Vince. Now answer the question.
- scrumtrallecent, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Vince looks great for a guy who was killed in a limo explosion.
- trippinlikegod, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2It just bothers me deeply that they did a tribute episode to this scum bag who murdered his whole family.
- Mekun, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2They all need to stop doing steroids, period. Come on 60 wrestlers have died by the age of 45 due to heart problems, suicide or ailments probably due to steroids.
- JorgeGonzalez, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Fear zombie Vince!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+4Vince's timing could have been better for faking his own death, though. I live in the same county as Chris Benoit and when I first heard of his death I thought it was a fake, since I didn't see anything on local news for a couple of hours. Plus, to come outright and say that steroids had nothing to do with it is kinda cover-your-ass-ish of Vince.
- ashrafneo, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3I for one welcome Chris Benoit as our new Paris Hilton who will take up entirely too much news time.
- SuperMoses, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1You guys obviously don't understand the nature of the business. The use of steroids is encouraged in the WWE. Vince is all about wrestlers looking like monsters. He has taken bigger guys over talented guys several times. The WWE has a responsibility to police it's wrestlers and drug use just as the NFL, NBA, and MLB. Fortunately he mentioned a "wellness program" which was only implemented last year, but we'll have to see if it actually does anything.
A lot of people think Vince came off as intelligent, but in my opinion he came across as a man in denial. Did you hear what he said about Benoit. "...or that Benoit was a part of our organization. Unfortunately he was." Wow... way to pay respects to one of your best wrestlers, McMahon. Say it's unfortunate that he was part of your organization because you now have to face the responsibility of your demands on the wrestlers. He doesn't give a ***** about the other 60 wrestlers that died after they left the WWE. If Benoit wasn't part of the WWE he wouldn't take any responsibility as well, which is why he's saying it's unfortunate that he was part of the organization when he did this. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+0I am no fan of Vince's, or of wrestling.. Vince is wrong when he said that they "won't know until the toxicology report.." comes back. They will never know why Chris Benoit was messed up, and why HE killed his family, and himself. The toxicology report won't say why, and won't place blame on anyone else. Certainly, people will think it inferred, but that is damn irresponsible to claim.
