- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20You know its fast when you have a seatbelt attatched to the dashboard.
- pahoehoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Spoilers aren't for keeping a car from lifting off, they just add additional downforce in addition to the downforce created by the rest of the car's aerodynamics. There purpose is to increase rear wheel traction during high-speed turns.

- sardonux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That red light was indicating when somebody in the car was urinating on themselves. I sure would've sitting as a passenger!
- xabstract, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Anyone know what that red light was indicating?
- thirteenva, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Looked like a boost indicator . Shift lights are usually located on the tach. It was probably lights on full boost which on a turbo is not reached till the higher RPM's
- Ibox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5thats a sissy strap. it gives the driver somthing to lean on durring long races, because it becomes very tiring trying to hold yourself up against the G-forces from repeated high speed turns.
- dogstylee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Nice but why didn't they just cut the video and start it at the 1:00 mark when something happens...:S
- RedRummy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's not a shift light.
And its not a boost light either, or it would flash each it he reached high boost in every gear...
only seems to light when he reaches 4th/5th at high speeds, then goes out when he backs off.
?? - Harvey_Mushman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Before you plunk down any change for a Hennessey take a look at this:
http://www.digg.com/motorsport/Is_Dodge_Viper_tuner_John_Hennessey_hell_bent_on_destroying_his_company - MrHawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Probably either a Lambda meter or a low fuel pressure warning.
- iamdan1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I want a Viper.
- monkzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg for goin so fast, it looked like he was warping thru space and time.
- freehunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For some reason, this was in my RSS feed, but I can't find it in search, on the front page, or in my dugg list. Has this happened to anyone else?
- kingkang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you've seen the video with James May from Top Gear taking the Veyron to 253 MPH, you'll remember Jeremy Clarkson asking May how the car felt at 200+ and mentioning that most cars at those types speeds will feel like the car is about to peel apart.
The Viper did look and sound like it was about to peel apart. - weister42, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Hennessey Performance is the shop that builds these cars but from what I've been reading all over the internet John Hennessey is a shady business man, parting out customer cars then sell them used "upgrades." I believe his company has been sued numerous times.
- dinkola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you want real acceleration, check out the ducati 1098. No modifications needed and at a tiny fraction of the price. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k48J9Tnu7UM
- Sebastian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@carsonauto
That was not a shift light i didn't go off when for first or second gear - stupidverizon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Wow I always thought Vipers were ugly cars but that's one sexy Viper! And hella fast too. I thought it was going to take off. I don't know much about cars, but I was really suprised to see that there was no spoiler to prevent it from lifting up at that speed.
Sexiest viper I've ever seen. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Buried as lame because American cars are *****, and straight line performance is useless except in a drag race.
- underdog138, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4@ pahoehoe, re: stupidverizon
Exactly, and that's one purpose the front air dam serves, not unlike a formula one car. In front wheel drive cars, it serves the same purpose as a real spoiler does: keeping downforce on the front tires increasing traction. - tehnico, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Vipers are still ugly cars. Make, model, import or domestic has no relevance once a car has after market modifications like this.
- jcaino, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2yes, spoilers do provide downforce.
in some cases, yes, they do keep the car from leaving the ground.
the first iteration of the viper had problems with front end lift. if it (the drivetrain) was modified in similar fashion on a first gen viper, without modifying the aerodynamics the car would indeed leave the ground.
another case in point - the audi TT - the car had aerodynamic woes that caused rear-end lift had high speeds, neccesitating the addition of a decklid spoiler.
edit: dugg for watching later @ home, no flash installed on this box, so i haven't viewed it yet, but i would venture a guess that the red light may have been a shift indicator light - creams0da, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0I believe that light is a boots vacuum light, indicating that the turbos aren't producing a positive pressure for the intake n e more.
- Carsonauto, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Shift light. Turns on when your RPM's are right for a shift.
