- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -1/+54This is what happens when you follow the Google Maps directions.
- TDTech, on 01/14/2008, -0/+35Pictures of 10,000 people turning up on the shores to welcome them as well as a shot of the Kayak itself:

- steveoco, on 01/14/2008, -1/+18"as the pair hugged family members and drank a beer they were each handed."
Yep there Aussies alright! Good work boys! - consoneo, on 01/14/2008, -1/+16I want to know how large this kayak was and what kind of rations they were able to take. That'd be a good article to have pictures on.
- JimmyDushku, on 01/14/2008, -0/+14It's articles like this that make me feel like a lazy American.
- bonjourmr, on 04/25/2008, -4/+16Great day for Australia! Grats lads.
- mindsnare, on 01/14/2008, -0/+11Oh allright here you go. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/01/13/2137 ... watch the video.
- anselm83, on 01/14/2008, -0/+10It's odd how inexplicably happy I am for two strangers. Good for them.
- GSVNoFixedAbode, on 01/14/2008, -0/+9Loved the loop they did that shows up on the GPS tracklog ( http://www.crossingtheditch.com.au ). Well done though!
- codyman, on 01/14/2008, -2/+10paddling 2,000 miles... their upper bodies must be built up so much that if they stand up, they tip over like a top
- aznhomig, on 01/14/2008, -0/+8Dugg for the "Where the bloody hell have ya been?" sign.
- DanInAUSTRALIA, on 01/14/2008, -0/+7i saw this in the morning when they came in. kick ass work boys you made us aussies proud
- barroni, on 01/14/2008, -0/+7Yup the distance has .But you die in the Tasman Ocean , people sail boats from Sydney to Tasmania and die.Last guy to try and Kayak across from Australia to New Zealand he died .
- naldwell, on 01/14/2008, -0/+7Also, they have no money and no tickets home. Back in the boat, boys.
- Godlesswanderer, on 01/14/2008, -0/+6I love the banner in the 4th picture. "So where the bloody hell have ya been?"
- mindsnare, on 01/14/2008, -0/+6It was a big ass kayak, with a cabin and solar panels. I'd post a link but.... meh you can google it.
- sporg, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6The Vikings look down from Valhalla and laugh at your puny excuse for a journey." Back in our day we rowed that far just to pillage a few towns and the wind was against us both ways! "
- Murdats, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6wow, I am a fan of memes and all but did you butcher that or what.
way to fail. - naldwell, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5Great effort. Unfortunately the first person who tried (late 2006 I think?) died en route. :(
- Hitpoint, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5I sense some one has robot arms!
- syroncoda, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5haha these guys kick arse. their wish was for booze and dancing girls when they got to new plymouth
- MisterSam, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5Dugg because I loved that book. Thor Heyerdahl was a legend :)
- 2oonhed, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5That is pretty high tech looking kayak. I have never seen a kayak with a cabin before.
- caillyn, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6they are in the middle of the Tasman sea....where else do you think they go?
- lacolonel, on 01/14/2008, -4/+8reminds me of kon tiki...
- TDTech, on 01/14/2008, -1/+5Some more pictures of them leaving Foster in Australia:
http://www.crossingtheditch.com.au/photos/departur ... - Murdats, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4in their bath.
- ScottyMcBaggs, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3In Soviet Russia, comment fails YOU!
- neio, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3Good on you lads. Hell of a thing to do.
- CrazyChair, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3Aww *****. Paul Hogan found out about Digg.
- Jenadae, on 01/14/2008, -2/+5Wow, talk about self driven. Imagine day 10 seeing nothing but water and the guy you're rowing with and knowing you have nothing to look forward to for another 50 days but that and what delightful food you may have packed, which I'm sure was nothing exciting. And isn't is late summer over there at the moment? Wow...
- Emmo213, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3FTA: They were taken for medical checks, amid fears their leg muscles may have deteriorated because of the long period of inactivity. They climbed out of their kayak, however, and appeared in good health.
Where did you read they had problems? - caillyn, on 01/14/2008, -5/+8Thats one hell of an achievement, Awesome work guys!!
- TubzyX, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4i dugg the article so more people can read your comment. well done.
- PhireN, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4Not to New Zealand.
- dojonz, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4You looked at a map recently?
- avatarpalin, on 01/14/2008, -1/+3Brings a bloody flamin tear to my eye. Those blokes are fair dinkum and true blue no worries. I don't give a stuff if they chunder or just plain spew, get those bloke a beer. A man is not a camel and they would be dry as a dead dingo's donga so give those buet blokes a stubby and you can call it stumps.
Noo Worries.. - michaelbeckham, on 01/14/2008, -2/+4No, Summer is from December-February.
- PhireN, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Yeah, late/early 2006/2007. He died only 50km (~30 miles) from New Zealand.
- 2oonhed, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2that is a ridiculous loop those guys had to do. that many miles of backtracking must have made it difficult to press on.
- Lucanos, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2I am fortunate enough to say that I know one of these guys - James - met him through a volunteer emergency service in Sydney. And absolutely brilliant bloke - great inner strength and just a warm and friendly personality, the exact kind of guy you would want to keep you company in the middle of the ocean. Massive commitment and effort on the part of James and Justin - physically, mentally, emotionally. Just happy that they made it safe and sound and they are getting the recognition they so rightly deserve.
Well done boys - proud of you, proud to know you! - zonk3r, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Damn, I take the car down the block to get a gallon of milk.
- nicbrown, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2These guys were technically the first to kayak the Tasman sea, but on the 30th of December, another 4 man team managed to row between New Zealand and Australia in 31 days.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197 ... - inactive, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1I found a book that one of his crew on that trip wrote/drew; an illustrated book of his own about his voyage.
It's a great companion piece to it. - changyang1230, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1http://www.nationalpost.com/news/Story.html?id=959 ...
- leerayIG88, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1I can masturbate 2,000 times in a year. so that's like 6 times a day? Meh.
