- quomen, on 05/15/2008, -4/+24Lol wow, an MMA story on Digg?
It's awfully cold in Hell right now. - Sebassis, on 05/15/2008, -0/+17dugg for being an mma story in digg :-)
- phre3k187, on 05/15/2008, -1/+14i miss randy couture
- Bhatch514, on 05/15/2008, -4/+16George St. Pierre vs. Matt Huges
- 4rp4n3t, on 05/15/2008, -1/+12Only a simple minded idiot would draw any conclusion from such a weak correlation
- pitdog, on 05/15/2008, -4/+16Fedor has talent.
- cannibaljp, on 05/15/2008, -1/+11the real story here is that mainstream media (Sports Illustrated is PRETTY freaking mainstream if you ask me...) is starting to pay attention to the sport.
there will always be people who don't understand the skill and dedication that it takes to reach the highest levels of the sport - but at least we're making progress. - HeDiggMe, on 05/15/2008, -1/+10I want to see Urijah Faber rematch Tyson Griffth--that would be a good rivalry
- snerge, on 05/15/2008, -1/+10yeah right GSP is your typical drunken guy ...
- Lubinski, on 05/15/2008, -1/+8Walk into that same bar and watch it for free because most likely they bought the ppv.
- jet2112, on 05/15/2008, -1/+8Right, because every local bar has guys with the same fighting skill as MMA fighters...
- durru7, on 05/15/2008, -2/+8Fedor Emelianenko is an absolute beast.
- inactive, on 05/15/2008, -1/+7I am pretty sure Nog and Fedor are friends and have great respect for each other.. There is no reason you can't be a rival and still be friendly. I haven't heard single bad word about the other from them.
- quixand, on 05/15/2008, -1/+8Dunno why you got dug down for this. It's true. I'm sick to ***** death of going to a bar and seeing the ***** walking around like their ***** of the walk. It's hilarious. I always make a note to go up to them, and ask, "Where do you train?" Never gotten a legit response yet. ***** posers.
- partysan, on 05/15/2008, -1/+5Liddell did fight in Pride, although Quinton Jackson knocked him out, not Silva. Silva saved his best stuff for Quinton that night.
- duerra, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4I'm not sure what you're laughing at, but many would argue that is *the* MMA rivalry of all time.
- mushroomsrmagic, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4He beat the UFC heavyweight champion 3 times...
- JigoroKano, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4They forgot to mention that Royce's victory over Sakuraba was overturned because Royce was jacked up on steroids. His nandrolone level was like 90 or something ridiculous. Before the fight, commentators noted that Royce appeared to be in the best shape of his life.
Sakuraba is still undefeated versus the Gracies. - mptsxtps, on 05/15/2008, -2/+5It should be Fedor vs All of MMA.
- partysan, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3He's been kicking ass and taking names for the last six years. But it's always funny to see the new wave of MMA fans make ridiculous statements. I just miss the old days where a guy could buy used UFC video tapes for a dollar because nobody else wanted it.
- ohplease, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3
Every time I see some steak head at the mall wearing tap out gear I want to go up to them and ask them wear they train. It's funny watching all these wannabe's showing up to class and never coming back the first time they've been choked out. Real fighters, at least where I am from, would never wear that ***** in public. - partysan, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4Here we go with Kimbo again... the guy won a couple brawls in a backyard for a youtube audience. Put him up against a good ground fighter, and he'll tap out within a minute.
- donte, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4I know Tito and Ken hate each other, but you it has to take a bit away from the rivalry since it basically follows the same pattern: Shamrock runs his mouth; Ortiz knocks Shamrock into next week.... actually that's all it really is. Just repeat those steps 3 times. At least in the other rivalries most of them fought multiple times with different outcomes. Either way, it's nice to see a little love for the sport that can pick up the pieces of the shattered sport that Don King ruined.
- midbc, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3GSP will be around for a long time i bet
that guy has serious skills - JigoroKano, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3Serra and Hughes, Tito and Dana, ... these people haven't even fought each other yet!
- Cassanova, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I'd say Serra and Hughes is the biggest rivalry now. Oh yeah... yay MMA on Digg! :D
- themaestro18, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I'd like to see Hughes vs. Serra II, Rampage Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva III, and Rush St.-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva fight.
- benhollister, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2Word up to that. My mother still thinks it's fake, i.e. professional wrestling fake.
- alc0h0lic, on 05/15/2008, -2/+4Fedor is a machine, the rest are good mma fighters :p
I'd like to see no.1 UFC fighter against Fedor, humiliation will occur :p - themaestro18, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3St.-Pierre vs. Serra II Bell Center here ---> http://www.bestsnippets.com/post/32782028
- finalcloud33, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3what bars do you go to?
- bicyclethief, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3Serra vs. Hughes has been lopsided. Hard to make a rivalry there.
Ditto for Tito vs. Ken Shamrock or Chuck Liddell. - BOFH2, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2That happens? I hope not
- Sinns, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3I would bet that Syd is one of those fat ***** sitting in the audience, wearing a stupid "Affliction" shirt booing the fighters
- small3687, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2"wear they train" where they train.
- TrevorBelmont, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2Let me offer one example. This list describes the Penn/Hughes rivalry as "heating up" despite the fact that they are now in different weight classes and it seems Hughes is on the verge of retirement. It read like it was assigned to a sports writer who would have preferred writing about baseball. No insight or real passion for the sport, just a recitation of questionable facts.
- themaestro18, on 05/26/2008, -0/+2BJ (the prodigy) Penn vs. Sean (Muscle Shark) Sherk up at http://www.bestsnippets.com
- Percele, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3And what a great ***** fight that was...war Wand.
- snerge, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2indeed
- ConceptualTrap, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2No, you don't HAVE to play basketball to wear a Lakers jersey but if do wear one you're either still in gradeschool or a *****. Most likely both.
- evanbooth, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Ortiz's nipples are trying to escape.
- thtswhatshesaid, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I doubt Hughes wants to fight GSP anymore :P I'd rather see Hughes vs. Serra and Liddell vs. Rampage again!
- duerra, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2I see that you are making a point, but I know not who you are talking to. Since when to fans of any sport not fall into any such bucket?
- TrevorBelmont, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2*whispers* that was Ken...
- destro713, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2Horrible list, even worse photos. But MMA on Digg, so...
- Surfrock66, on 05/15/2008, -3/+6No Tito v. Dana? No Serra v. Hughes?
- Percele, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Dumbest I´ve seen are the guys who walk around in rash guards...
- duerra, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2For Sports Illustrated, I guess I'd have to say that they did a pretty decent job overall. Clearly there was some knowledgeable writers of the sport behind that list.
