The golfer (McLachlin) gets in trouble for commenting that he just got a birdie.
Football player (Cromartie) gets fined $2,500 for complaining about the food at training camp.
Basketball player (Villanueva) gets in trouble for saying he's gotta step up.
Don't the teams have anything better to worry about? - davincih, on 11/12/2009, -0/+10The difference between Mark Cuban and a lot of these guys is that he does it on purpose. Most of them do it because they're stupid.
- jdyme1, on 11/12/2009, -0/+7Twitter puts fans in direct contact with athletes, it cuts out the middle man. For me its worth it, its on the players to be able to think before they tweet.
- flippedcracker, on 11/12/2009, -1/+6twitter has brought no good
- Alli3388, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4I don't really think that a tweet about bad training camp food warrants anyone getting upset... They guy was so bad at typing (or so close to illiterate??) that you could barely understand what he was saying anyway.
- mollierosev, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4This is why I love Twitter.
- mrbiggles52, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4I hate Twitter with a passion, but how does someone get in trouble for saying (except the bad grammar and spelling) ''In da locker room, snuck to post my twitt. We're playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up.''- Charlie Villanueva
- Kireblade, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4LOL @ KLove's "I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express"
- jeremymccurdy, on 11/12/2009, -1/+3Further proof that Twitter breeds idiocy.
- speedyb166, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2Where's Ochocinco?!?!?
- SyntraFTW, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2Dugg for SI having a soccer player on one of their lists.
- angrytortilla, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2Because all other outlets of social networking are packed with the world's brightest minds.

- frozenwalkway, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1half of these dont warrant the consequences these players got from tweeting. like complaining a ref was a cheat, who the ***** cares, its his own twitter, if he wrote a well thought out blog about it i bet he wouldnt get reprimanded about it. now breaking private news about coaches being fired i could see that as a problem, but not complaining about food or complaining about a coach being late to a meeting when hes...well late to a ***** meeting.
- ervinTE8, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1How is Mark Cuban's a $25,000 offense? Jesus, take that money and give it to something worthwhile.
- Phi01, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Anyone else find that the share button was really in the wrong place....
- roflcopter47, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Twitter, like Second Life before it, seemed to be in bed with the Associated Press. The number of AP stories about twitter was astronomical. Since most news outlets just syndicate AP stories, Twitter was basically forced down the public's throats.
- jserio, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Buried - for 10 ***** pages and obnoxious Netflix pop-up windows.
- vagrantwade, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1KEVLARRRRRRRRRR With the Holiday Express line.
Guy is pretty down to earth. - capheine, on 11/12/2009, -2/+2"For all the good Twitter has brought"
Are you out of your mind? Twitter has done nothing for society other than destroying the standards and beauty of written language, turning people into self-important ***** who think everyone gives a damn about what kind of latte they just ordered at Starbucks, and propagate stupidity and unoriginal thought across the globe in the hopes of 15 minutes of fame. Anyone who uses Twitter for non-ironic reasons is a complete and massive douche of the highest caliber.
lone excpetion: the whole Iran election thing. Which everyone forgot about a week after it was originally trending. - clarient, on 11/12/2009, -1/+1Oh, the irony.
