- damack, on 08/22/2008, -1/+20Thats an interesting list, has a few surprises(to me anyway).
I was wondering what is the worse injury you guys have ever seen or heard of, I think nothing tops when Buck Shelford had his scrotum torn, I'll let Wikipedia fill in the blanks:
Roughly 20 minutes into the match, he was caught at the bottom of a rather aggressive ruck, and an errant French boot found its way into Shelford's groin, somehow ripping his scrotum and leaving one testicle hanging free. He also lost four teeth in the process. Incredibly, after discovering the injury to his scrotum, he calmly asked the physio to stitch up the tear and returned to the field before a blow to his head left him concussed. He was substituted and watched the remainder of the game from the grandstand where he witnessed the All Blacks lose 16–3. To this day Shelford has no memory of the game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Shelford - sharknip126, on 08/22/2008, -1/+18Cheerleading is rather brutal as far as injuries. I would have to question golf though. I would expect the main reason so many people die on the golf course isn't because of the danger of the sport, but the poor health conditions of those partaking. Most other sports on this list require the competitor to be in decent physical condition in order to even attempt to participate (or in the case of fishing, present natural dangers such as the possibility of drowning), but golf allows people of frail health to play, so I wouldn't say golf is dangerous, just that the golf course is a likely place to pre-existing poor health to finally strike.
- 350Zed, on 08/23/2008, -1/+15Golf? Lawn bowling?
Just because the geriatric participants are prone to death of natural causes during play, doesn't make the SPORT ITSELF dangerous.
Buried! - ScottMcIntyre, on 08/22/2008, -1/+13Cheerleading? Dangerous?! QFA : "In the US alone, there were more than 20,000 reported injuries from cheerleading last year alone"
This is a great list of sports you might not have believed could cause so much devastation and injury :-) - Zoids, on 08/23/2008, -1/+9Hockey is a range of different games.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockey
Ice hockey is the correct name for the game played on ice. - Soulbow2, on 08/22/2008, -2/+7Fishing?
I've never been hurt seriously from fishing, and living in Florida, I do plenty of fishing. - subliminali, on 08/23/2008, -1/+6Two words- Thunder Dome. two men enter, one man leaves. that's a guaranteed 50% death rate.
- walugi, on 08/23/2008, -1/+6where the ***** is gaelic football?
- szskateman22, on 08/23/2008, -1/+6FALSE! Cheerleaders don't eat... "Don't tell these hardcore girls that cheerleading isn't a sport - they'll eat you for breakfast."
- funkyflea, on 08/23/2008, -0/+4Ehh.. HURLING?? Irish Hurling?

You can believe me, I PLAY GOLF - hippykiller, on 08/23/2008, -0/+3Well then you are one of the lucky ones aren't you sir!
- honeybrass, on 08/23/2008, -1/+4Side of my face was sore once while staring at the cleavage of my opponent, not sure why.
- Mercedes383, on 08/23/2008, -0/+3Bring back Buck. Stupid how they dropped him.
- inactive, on 08/23/2008, -0/+3Starcraft is the most dangerous sport. You get hit by a large fleet of battlecruisers, you're going down, that's all there is to it.
- Fozfan33, on 08/23/2008, -0/+3i was so ready to bury the ***** out of this if cheerleading wasnt on the list. i played football for 12 years then started cheerleading in college and there is nothing scarier than throwing a girl 30 feet in the air and having to catch her as she spins and flips downward at your face... plus you get kicked in the balls a lot.

http://my.break.com/Content/Search/Search.aspx?m=s ... - aenegeling, on 08/23/2008, -0/+3This has got to be up there.. sort of base jumping, sort of mountain gliding, absolutely nuts. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWF8KV4IW5o - millerlite117, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2Either that or it's down to most of the competitors being over 85 and lugging great big balls around.
The older you get, the bigger too. - inactive, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2High Altitude mountain climbing!
There are bodies on Everest that are used as sign posts/land marks that the other climber use. - Zoids, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2No, England.
Hockey=field hockey
Ice Hockey=Ice hockey. - inactive, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2Bocci is deadly.

- zombiecarlin, on 08/23/2008, -2/+4A real collection of the worlds most dangerous sports: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E23BgGp_eHQ not the rubbish this fool submitted yes it rightly includes both NFL and Ice Hockey although they aren't in the same league as Rugby and the mother of madness Hurling.
- redscofield, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2lugging great big balls around
- strevoir, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2Did anyone watched the ceremony of volleyball?Anything happened?
- Aithril, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2This list is pretty stupid, but I'm glad horseback-riding is on there. People who ride are normally in quite good shape so it won't have the same bad-health factor as golf. Believe it or not, it's just incredibly dangerous to trust your life to a flight-rather-than-fight animal that weighs 1,000 pounds or more. Gotta love it.
- mmcwhorter, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2Um... this is lame. Hurling is the fastest and most dangerous sport in the world.
- latisha1903, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2Lawn Bowl @ #1? What in the world?
- crowbarred, on 08/23/2008, -2/+4Everyone, EVERYONE knows that Rugby is the most dangerous game .. and if it wasn't, we wouldn't play here in NZ. Plus only pussy's wear helmets .... oh wait
- o5rob5o, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2lawn darts? plus everyone knows that only old people and children between 7 and 15 play with them. That should put it at number 1.
- acrodev, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1What about chess-boxing?
- inactive, on 08/23/2008, -2/+3Funny guy. We al know male cheerleaders don't have 'balls'.
- acrodev, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1No mention of hippo riding?
- vagarach, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Well clearly your safety literature needs updating if a mere article on some website clearly designed purely for entertainment is able to scare off an owner in what has become a litigation happy world.
- Obsession88, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Fishing is not a sport!
- NeoHomer, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Lame and incorrect. Idiot didn't even mention auto racing. You ain't really lived til you've bounced off a wall at 100mph and finish the race.
- cameycam, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Lacrosse?
- acrodev, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Shouldn't that be the other way around?
- mcramer, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1They're looking at the # of people injured or killed, as opposed to the percentage of them who play the sport. Golf? A gazillion people play golf. It's not dangerous.
- psykiv, on 08/24/2008, -0/+1Mortal Kombat.
One person dies, the other gets seriously ***** up? - dan1101, on 08/23/2008, -1/+2I've never heard of lawn bowling.
- Cenobite, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1I thought "Irish Hurling" is what happens when you drink one too many pints of Guinness.
- inactive, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1THEY FORGOT BALTIMORE, NEW ORLEANS, PHILADELPHIA and many other American cities that are inhabited by the COV culture of violence. These are real dangerous places
- SLockhart, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Whatever dude, basejumpers are just skydivers who can't afford to rent a plane.
- reddikilowatt, on 08/23/2008, -0/+1Is this a list of amateur sports? Why is cycling not on the list? Most major races have a third or more bikers drop out before the end, and it isn't because they had prior commitments that they forgot about. One major crash in the peliton and there's lot of blood and broken bones.
- lovemorgul, on 08/24/2008, -0/+1CHEERLEADING IS CLEARLY THE MOST DANGEROUS SPORT!!!!!!!!!!
- naszaklasa, on 08/23/2008, -0/+19. CAVE DIVING:
8. CHEERLEADING
4. GOLF
It should be the other way around. Buried. -
