- neognostic, on 05/10/2008, -1/+18Whoever made up this list is smoking crack. The Twins and Royals have been in the World Series multiple times. The Texas Rangers should be on the list, they've traded away too many young and talented players for has beens. What do they have to show for it? Nothing.
- TheSarf, on 05/10/2008, -2/+11This is the ***** list I have ever seen. If anything, you can maybe re-title it to "Top 10 Pro Sports Franchises that haven't done much in the past 10 years."
The Hawks are a good young team, and gave Boston a run for their money. The Twins make the playoffs consistently. The Bruins traded Bourque because he deserved the opportunity to hoist the Cup. The Rays are an 11 year old franchise, so give them a break.
Whatever. Buried. - SuperMoses, on 05/10/2008, -1/+10Boston Bruins aren't even the worst franchise in hockey, let a lone in a top 10 list of "worst franchises in pro sports ever". This list seems random.
- inactive, on 05/10/2008, -3/+11What, no Cubs? The Pirates have won 5 World Series titles since the Cubs last won one.
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 05/10/2008, -0/+8Living just outside Detroit, I am appalled to see that the Lions did not take the top spot in this. We fail at failing as well at winning, apparently.
- pepstein11, on 05/10/2008, -3/+10Gotta cut the Hawks some slack after running with a very good Celtics team - they are exciting to watch too.
- coltrane68, on 05/10/2008, -1/+6The Twins clearly do not belong on this list. They have been quite good in recent years, and they won a copule of World Series in the late '80's and early '90's.
- 7stitches, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4I was hoping the Pirates were first. GO PIRATES! We're finally winning!
- zioxide, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4Um, the Twins have won 4 division titles in the past 6 years...
Awful list. - Cattywampus, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4Yes I did, did you happen to read my comment? I said, "The TITLE on this submission is inaccurate."
It's usually considered helpful on Digg when the title and the description actually refer to the same thing. - homah, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4There is no way the Twins should be on this list. They are competitive most years with an incredibly small payroll. The O's should be on this list before the Twins. They spend way, way more money and always suck.
- Scoreboard, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3big oversight... Los Angeles Kings! Only made it to the playoffs 4 of the last 12 seasons and making it past the first round in just one of those. In 41 seasons they won their division once and made it to the Stanley Cup Finals once (lost 4 games to 1). Even the greatest player to ever play the game couldn't bring lift this team to glory.
- Cattywampus, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3The article says it is about "top 10 worst sports franchises currently in operation." The submitter of the article says it is a list of the "worst ever." Makes me think the submitter didn't read the article very closely.
- RuffRidr, on 05/10/2008, -1/+4The list is all-time losers. To their credit, the Knicks have had some very good seasons. Just not lately.
- graemee, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3GO Pirates!
I like rooting for the underdogs. - HeDiggMe, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3And where are the Bengals?! Just because they went from garbage to average in the past 2 years doesnt preclude them from being on an all-time list.
- Cattywampus, on 05/10/2008, -1/+5The title on this submission is inaccurate... the article is not about the "worst ever," but the worst franchises "currently in operation."
The Pirates definitely have a great past, but a poor recent history. - Armando57, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2Let's add to the fact that compared to Kansas City or Minneapolis, the Rangers are in a major sports market. Not since the owner of the Boston Red Sox sold Babe Ruth's contract for a gambling debt has an owner raped his team's talent for money to go into another vice.
- xman2000, on 05/10/2008, -1/+3um, didn't the Phillies pass the 10,000th loss mark last year making them the "losingest team in professional sports"? I know they are doing better this year but that is a record worth writing about,
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic ... - ell0bo, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2Do you know that for the past two years we've had the league's MVP? Also, when you start your franchises history, "The first Phillies game was played May 1, 1883 at Recreation Park on the corner of 24th Street and Ridge Avenue with the club losing 4-3 to the Providence Grays. The club would go on to win just 17 of 98 games that season, pitcher John Coleman losing 48 of them." It really doesn't take long to get to 10,000 in 124 years...
- jjremy, on 05/10/2008, -2/+4Maple Leafs anyone? :D
- deadlyrice, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2well i guess if you've been around since 1883, you are bound to lose 10,000 games. Cut them some slack.
- CH3CH2OH, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2The Chicago Blackhawks should be on this list. When the owner died, the fans booed his on-ice memorial.
- TheHeat, on 05/11/2008, -0/+2Buried for the Lions being placed 5th, not 1st. Even the blunders he came up with weren't that great. The Lions lows and woes are much deeper and darker than he even gets into. Historically, recently, traditionally, the Lions have been the epitome of suck - one of the greatest running backs of all time could barely get us into the playoffs only to be knocked out in the first game.
Arizona Cardinals also warrant consideration, they've been to the playoffs 4 times since 1949. Only one of which was in the last 10 years, and they just suck too. - hebleb, on 05/10/2008, -2/+3The dolphins are actually one of the best franchises of all time....just not in the past 5 years or so.
- NeoCortex, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2How about the Expos/Nationals. Now there's a franchise that went nowhere.
Also, how about the Orioles. They're not a bad team, but they insist on trading away every good player they get, and have essentially become a pro-level farm team. - ltomson, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Did we forget about the Miami Fusion?????
- inactive, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1That's a fair assessment. The Cubs have not often been the worst team in baseball, their suckiness is derived from usually being competitive but never competitive enough. Still, the title is "worst ever" but the list is apparently "worst recently".
- DeadSkinMask, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Callifornia Golden Seals!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Golden_Sea ... - faster3200, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Has no one heard of the Sonics?
- Jeffler, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Since I see they're going recently, I nominate the Leafs over the Bruins - As a leafs fan, I haven't gone to a game since 2001 because of the price, and the fact that the ownership cares about nothing more than the dollars made. Case in point: Thanks to the fact that they didn't want to buy out their aging players after the lockout with no cap hit, and then trying to sign veterans to help them, the Leafs have missed the playoffs 3 years in a row, have expensive and untradeable players (either due to lack of performance or refusal to waive no trade clauses), traded their #1 prospect for a mediocre backup goalie, and are at least 5 years away from having a chance at being a force again. Did I mention the last time they were in the cup finals the league had 6 teams? (1967).
If I hadn't been a leafs fan since I was a toddler it'd be easy for me to change to a different team. Damn you MLSE! - DeadSkinMask, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Do I lose points for the typo?
- ceredron, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS
holy ***** they suck. - rydawg61, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1San Francisco Giants- No titles in over 50 years plus being the epicenter of the whole steroid era should automatically qualify for this list.

Olympics 2008 Sports List, sport information, olympics games 2008 timing, venue history
http://www.24timepass.com/olympics-2008/olympics-2 ... - robertallen, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1They've been to more Super Bowls than the Lions and Cardinals, though.
- a007proxy, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1No matter how ***** they are, I still love the buccos
- Gimli, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1I dugg this down for it's very inaccurate for the Detroit Lions should have been No. 1, I say DAVE GOLOKHOV should be listed as the Worst Sports writer of all time ;-)
- robertallen, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1The Knicks, even though they have been bad in recent years...they are considered a storied NBA franchise...probably due to their large market appeal.
- IDIGTHEDIGG, on 05/10/2008, -4/+5Where the hell are the knicks?!!
- runic, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1FYI, Baltimore has a baseball team...
- robertallen, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Being a cursed hardcore Detroit Lions fan, I can't see any reason to rank them 5. They should be #1. At least some teams on this list, like the Twins have won championships within a 50 year span. The Lions got to one NFC Championship and got blown out 41-10 by the Redskins. Still love them, even though they rip my heart out every season and stomp on it.
As far as the Cardinals are concerned, they have always been a few pieces closer to the playoffs than the Lions ever have been. There's no way the Cardinals should be ranked worse than the Lions. - cathars1s, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1firejoemorgan.com tore this article apart.
- Cattywampus, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Actually the title of the submission is misleading: this is NOT a list of "worst franchises ever," it's the "top 10 worst sports franchises currently in operation."
And yes, the Knicks certainly qualify. The article does mention the Knicks in the intro paragraph, but not in the list. I think having incompetent ownership, hiring an incompetent GM and then allowing him to hire himself as coach, paying has-been players huge salaries, etc. --all while charging some of the highest ticket prices in the league -- certainly makes the Knicks eligible for the list. - momsshizzle, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Who are the Tampa Bay Rays? I've never heard of them.
- ifman, on 05/11/2008, -0/+0The idiot that wrote this article didn't even get the Pirates worst move recently on the list... signing Matt Morris to a 10 million dollar contract this year, and then having to release him after a month.
Also, if it's the last 20 years, the Montreal Expos/Washing Nationals HAVE to be on that list... did anyone ever watch an Expos game toward the end? It was pathetic. They were lucky to get 1000 people in there. - alaaco, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0This writer has no idea what hes talking about, and I have to agree with the people who say that this is should not be an all time list. But in all fairness, look at the guy, hes like 20 years old.

Oh, and if you dont like the article, you could email him
vegasdavevd@gmail.com - xblackxfalconx, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0I think that this guy didn't do his homework. The Minnesota Twins should not be on the list. They have won the last 4 out of 6 AL Division titles. As of right now, they are on top of the AL Central. We did trade Santana in a very unfair trade, which I'm still disappointed in. The Minnesota Twins have been contenders regardless of the trades and a smaller payroll.
If his guy wanted to pick on Minnesota's teams, go pick on the T-Wolves. - nick0lis, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0i think the rays are in first place right now arent they, and thats coming from a sox fan
