- FriedGeek, on 10/10/2007, -3/+81Dugg for seeing a band member get tagged.
- SonicBoom1000, on 10/10/2007, -6/+82It's funny how the greatest football play, looked exactly like a lot of rugby plays.
- Dquinz63, on 10/10/2007, -13/+47Apart from the band coming on to the field it is just bad rugby with pads.
"The Catch" ftw - Xyleene, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16It's all about possession and downs.. not individual play. It's much easier to lose possession when you give the other team the opportunity 6 times per play.
- psg188, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Da Bears
- monkeycat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14GO BEARS!
- jimic79, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11I hear that.. i was a band member myself but that's their stupid-ass fault for being out there like that.
- ToadLeg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Oh now I see it, except for the people blocking, there wasn't anybody blocking. Why would you call a play that scores a touchdown on a kickoff "bad"?

All Blacks rugby>that - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11You're really confused aren't you? The game of football is one of the most strategic sports ever conceived. It's basically a big game of Chess and it takes huge amounts of teamwork. You have proved just how ignorant you are, please learn more about football before being a dumb ass again, thank you.
- PopeAmadeus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9This is the best play ever.

- topaz82, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8dugg
cause thats the night i was born - kungfumaniac, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12Actually, having a leading blocker in football creates a big difference from rugby. Learn your sports.
- ShooterMcGavin, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8I remember seeing this as a kid, long before there was ESPN or youtube to be able to catch a thousand replays. I still love to see it.
Although, I must admit in the interest of full disclosure, as a life long Boise State Bronco fan, last year's Fiesta Bowl topped that play... for me at least. - ROW3BO4T, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5What makes the Stanford/Cal play so amazing is the combination of commentary, a stellar (American) football play, and the band prematurely celebrating. You couldn't script that on Broadway!
- ToadLeg, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6You're joking right? Football teams try rugby style plays all the time, and most of the time, like any other play, they fail. They only succeed when the defense is really unprepared to deal with it. Professional football almost never tries more than one lateral in a play because the defense knows exactly how to deal with it, and the risk of a fumble/interception is extremely high. What the ***** do you mean "they don't keep teamwork in mind" have you ever watched a football/basketball game?
- Laqrhead, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9Looks like a normal rugby play.
- xtmno3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4By the end of the day I will have every last www.4chan.org /b/ tard blocked.
You are the cancer that is killing digg, GTFO. - cderry, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Actually, that's exactly what the musical "Cats" is about.
- Gregus1032, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4music city miracle > this
this is good, but if it wasn't for the band not as many people would have heard of it.
also, why do people keep trying to compare rugby and football? they have a few visual similarities, but playing them are 2 completely different sports. (i've played both. football more so than rugby, but enough to say they are completely different on the playing level) - FuzzyBunny89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Wow, #11 is incredible and also very humble unlike some of the ***** in the NFL.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I never get tired of watching that.
- IbnDigg, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9I'm sorry but your so wrong it's not even funny. This my dear diggities is the best football play I can remember in a long time:

Total of 26 passes and they made it look so easy. - Jargonaut06, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You'd have to be like 45
- crawf061, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you are a ***** Bigcat151
- Ingwenya, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Yeah, "The Greatest Play in Football", we made these sort of plays even in High School rugby. People into US Footbal should watch a few All Black games...
- jakobahman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Learn how to build a sentence and try again.
Ok? Thanks. - turnTaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2obviously you have no idea how american football is played. this was a game-winning play in 4 seconds when everybody and their mama thought it was over. in the biggest game of the year between these two schools, which has been played annually for over 100 years. on live national television.
commenters who comment without knowing what the hell they're talking about really are ***** pathetic. - Cykaos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's called a Haka and it's a Maori thing
- underwise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2i know the trombone player that got decked in the end, he gets publicity every time the big comes around
- ajaxfontura, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They said there were penalty flags down (which is why the refs were huddling). If he had been tackled, there probably would have been a penalty on Stanford and one more chance for Cal to run a play.
- mascot4hire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If you watch much rugby you begin to get very frustrated at how little thought they put into it. and how little they do these kinds of plays with heaps of passes. they usually just try and barge though everyone and that rarely works. and basketball is extremely team and strategy orientated every play is set up with a role for each player, i haven't watched a lot of NBA basketball but its probably a case of using a lot of isolation plays to benefit from mismatches or having Kobe.
- gd1z, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Don't people ever get tired of saying this? We know rugby is more "hardcore". Stop telling us.
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1*****! I just lost The Game!!!
- dirtyfrog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If it was the other way around the band wouldn't have come out on to the field. The band came out because they assumed the play was over and the clock had expired, and were celebrating the home teams win. If the home team was returning that kick and was down the band would not have come on the field at all because if he was tackled they wouldn't be marching out to celebrate.
- Kornstalx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dugg for Nick Saban.
Roll Tide baby! - mavrick45, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yeah WTF. seriously!
- kyle9013, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Gotta love the announcer.

*Glad NZ is good at ONE sport* - dtraneighty8, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1the greatest plays require luck, not just 100% skill
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1but stanford wasn't the home team. notice they have white jersey's on. in college football the home team wears the dark colors... and you can clearly see "CAL" in the middle of the field during the play.

American Football evolved from Rugby, so there are nuances which resembles Rugby. But it isn't the same sport! - InvisibleMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Fiesta Bowl is better only because it capped off the most memorable game ever and ended an undefeated season. The game with 'The Play' wasn't that important. That Fiesta Bowl game may be look back on as the game that started the ball rolling on a playoff for College Football with ironically the best bowl game ever. Hence forth 2007 Fiesta Bowl will forever be referred to as 'The Game' (that changed college football)
- Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Man, that was funny. Wouldn't have made sense if I hadn't seen the original, though. I'm replying here just so I can find this video through digg when the time comes.
- adrenaline33, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1haha yeah football takes no skill..... American football is the hardest sport in the world, physically and mentally. The reason this play is so popular is because it was a lucky ass game winner and because the band came on the field. You want to see some skill? Watch a highlight video of Reggie Bush. He is more athletic than any soccer player in the world.
- ToadLeg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Now is not the only time that has ever existed.
- ToadLeg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1dude I've never been in a band but obviously if all of them went out there he wasn't going to just sit on the side. It's the fault of all of them, not just the one who got hit. It's funny, but that doesn't mean you have to hate him
- Prathik89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Anyone notice that when the guys geting hoisted up he drops the ball, another guy jumps on it, camera zooms out, then you see this guy with a black jacket punching him to get the ball. Hilarious
- Kornstalx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Sony Spoof. I laughed.
