- DaviDTC, on 03/21/2009, -1/+55Kimbo getting beat isn't an upset.
- tamahagane, on 03/21/2009, -5/+28I call BS they didn't show Ryo Chonan v Anderson Silva. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=267i7rKeECA
Easily the best comeback. - inactive, on 03/21/2009, -0/+17Leverage. A short punch with your knuckles at that angle doesn't do much damage due to biomechanics. A traditional punch at that angle doesn't have enough room to properly engage the upper arm or shoulder, so it' just ends up being awkward and annoying. By using the bottom of your palm and upper wrist area with a hammer punch, you can generate a lot more force. Try sitting in a chair upright and hitting your thigh with your knuckles and then with a "hammer" and you'll notice how much more force you can apply.
- Peko, on 03/21/2009, -1/+18That cro cop KO still freaks me out. To be filed under: Directions I never want my foot to point.
- Krezer, on 03/21/2009, -0/+9The gogoplata by Diaz is my favorite. Don't really like him but pulling off a gogo after getting smacked like that is awesome.
- Peko, on 03/22/2009, -0/+8Great. Now my thighs hurt.
- gincarnated, on 03/21/2009, -4/+12You think boxing is a ***** form of fighting?... Boxers are some of the most disciplined athletes on the planet.
- stopple, on 03/21/2009, -3/+10any video that shows matt hughes losing is ok in my book
- americanoboy, on 03/21/2009, -1/+7kimbowned
- havok92, on 03/21/2009, -1/+7This is why i love MMA, you never know what can happen :D
- JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+6To anyone who has seen Seth beat the ***** out of Bobb Sapp in K1, Kimbo beating Seth would have been a huge upset.
The moment the fight was changed to Seth, I knew he would win however he wanted. - temujin1234, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5lol somebody wants some attention
- molamann, on 03/21/2009, -0/+5Not to mention high as a kite.
- TrevorBelmont, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5Buried for saying that pro wrestling is fighting. It's athletic, but it IS NOT fighting.
- j0hn, on 03/21/2009, -1/+5Yeah I expected to see that as #1
- molamann, on 03/21/2009, -0/+4Sokoudjou not living up to his hype after knocking out Lil Nog and Arona is an upset.
- spectre51, on 03/21/2009, -0/+3Great stuff.
- inactive, on 03/21/2009, -1/+4Awesome collection! I'm not upset :D
- JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3I think Barnett's recollection is a bit fuzzy. If you watch the fight from the beginning, Ryo was winning the striking exchange for most of the fight.
- aenilius, on 03/21/2009, -1/+4meh, i ***** hate those tapout goofs, way to make mma fans look like idiots.
- JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3I think he was just emphasizing that it's not sensationalized, but that's really just a matter of time.
- TheBigBad, on 03/21/2009, -0/+3Time waits for no man.
- Farmer77, on 03/21/2009, -1/+4Question from a MMA noob:
During ground and pounds, when the guy on top is hammering down, how come he uses the bottom of his fist instead of his knuckles to hit? - inactive, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3Aren't you supposed to be at Bible study?
- partysan, on 03/21/2009, -0/+3Good thing we had clean UFC fighters Ken Shamrock, Chris Leben, Sean Sherk and Stephan Bonnar.
- GoatmealCrisp, on 03/21/2009, -1/+4The difference being that Leben, Sherk and Bonnar tested positive and were suspended for their actions and Ken Shamrock tested clean in UFC. Meanwhile in Japan PRIDE didn't test for anything and so it was commonly accepted that a good many of their fighters were juicing. The fact that people take tests and fail in the UFC is to the credit of the organization that they embraced these commissions and legitimized the sport.
- kingatrock, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3Whoa, wtf, thanks to the poster for posting my video! I was wondering where the traffic was coming from! Also, I named it "MMA: The Upsets" instead of "Greatest upsets evar" because I knew I'd miss a few or disagree with people on some. I admit the vitor/couture was one I missed, can't win'em all.
- hardtoconfuse, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2Its upsetting seeing the deconstruction of fighters like Cro Cop, Lidell, and Hughes. These guys used to be on top of the world. Its hard to believe that one day Fedor, both Silvas and other MMA heroes will eventually lose a few times and become less respected.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -1/+3yeah, "poor" welterweight champion
moron - TheBigBad, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2You're a ***** retard for saying it IS an upset. Just because everyone was on Kimbo's bandwagon doesn't make it an upset.
- JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2Hughes-Penn was an upset. Penn lost the LW title and was challenging the WW champion. That fight is one of the reasons he's revered so much.
Diaz vs. Gomi was also a huge upset. Gomi was the #2 LW in the world. Diaz was barely a top 10 WW.
Seth beating Kimbo was not an upset though. Seth oustruck Bob Sapp in K1. Kimbo outstruck Tank, lol. - Insolent, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2So is recklessly driving your Ferrari on public roads. He deserved what he got for putting other people in danger
- TimeIsTissue, on 03/21/2009, -2/+4brings back memories. great stuff, submitter.
- molamann, on 03/21/2009, -1/+3It was a great comeback by Ryo but Silva was nowhere a powerhouse during that time.
- DeviantDragon, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2No talent who beat Couture and Herring and is currently the UFC Heavyweight champion...
- tgc1, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2Most awesome. Perfectly executed. At first glance it looks like he almost screws it up, but actually, by getting his foot to tag the rear of his opponents leg, where the is no defense, and then pushing him back so his body weight falls rearward, it was over as soon as his opponents weight shifted back. Wow!
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2-----------------Stick to porn and the skin flute.---------------------
Look at the chickenhawk con pedophile! hiding behind a keyboard playing "the tough guy"!
why aren't you in iraq fighting for real, you gutless wonder-boy?
Go back to sending PMs to five year old kids in some Harry Potter Fan room - JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2To add to locdogg:
To punch with your knuckles you have to posture up and put your back into it a lot. Watch some of Fedor's fights, perhaps the rematch with TK.
Also this gives you more risk to get arm bared or triangle choked. - TheBigBad, on 03/21/2009, -1/+3gone under? It's bigger now than it's ever been.
- Elohir, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2It was that bad.
- octodd, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2matt hughes is one dimensional that is why he is losing now. Fighters now are more well rounded. Hughes is like tito ortiz by being stuck in the past.
- octodd, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2cool video however some of those were not upsets.
- Vagabond91, on 03/22/2009, -0/+2A 51 year old repeat drunk driver speeding and forcing you off the road makes Mask reckless? Maybe you should check out the facts before you condemn people for things you know nothing about, *****.
- fanfablebig, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1I will be looking forward to seeing this, inexperienced fighter to make a lot of mistakes, and pay for them. he will not be champ for long at all.
- temujin1234, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Nice one, looked like something out of a videogame.
- vl002001, on 03/21/2009, -4/+5poor, poor GSP
- JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Sky TV is how you get UFC in the UK.
- JigoroKano, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Tito has a win and a draw (would be a win if he didn't grab the fence) over the last 2 LWH champions.
The last person he lost to (Machida) is undefeated and will probably be champion soon.
With the exception of Chuck, he seems to match up pretty well against everybody... he just doesn't have much finishing ability. - Kvasaari, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1Serra vs GSP was a real shocker.
- tamahagane, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1I remember Ryo getting pounded throughout the fight but that was a while ago and I haven't watched it recently.
