Sure he was a street boxer before and a tad overhyped, but in all the interviews I've seen of him, he comes of a genuinely nice fellow who speaks well and never trash talks his opponents like other fighters do. Perhaps it's just the idea that anyone who fights in the street entering the cage and having the possibility of doing good unsettles the elitists.

Throughout his improbable rise in popularity and even in defeat, he actually came across classy, humble, and grateful for his opportunity. It's a pretty cool story given his background. The guy who beat Kimbo is a nobody. He'll remain a nobody after this. Elite XC gained nothing by having him win. They lost massive interest in Kimbo for future fights. He's done and the promotion may just have gone down with him. Suffice it to say that there is not a chance in hell that the people at the top of Elite XC wanted this to happen. How do you justify giving this guy the main event each time he fights? He has 4 fights under his belt while great fighters who have been fighting, and winning, all throughout there careers have to claw their way to the top in a legitimate fashion.
