-Proud Steeler Fan - Crosshare, on 01/30/2009, -2/+9Hines Ward is not hated in 31 other NFL Cities. He is a great competitor and would love my team to have him.
- Fluffycheese, on 01/30/2009, -4/+11This is on the front page why? Are that many people interested in pittsburgh sports?
- WorldBuilder, on 01/30/2009, -4/+10No such thing as a bad Pittsburgh jersey, folks. I was born and raised in the Steel City and will always call it home. Our teams have made mistakes as all teams do, but in the end, it is, and always will be, a great sports city overall.
We're not perfect and God knows we have some annoying fans, but by and large, Pittsburgh sports fans (of any sport) and are respectful of all aspects of the game. - OmniMe, on 01/30/2009, -1/+5It is the City of Champions afterall...
- steve626, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4As a Steeler fan and Pittsburgher, I say...
amen brother! - skews13, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4with the steelers being favored by 7 points, and all of the hype surrounding them in the superbowl. they better win, or it will be an even bigger story than last years game. i'm not a fan of either team in the game, but if i were a steelers fan, i would be a little nervous until they have the lead with seconds to go. they have everything to lose, and the cardinals don't. sound familiar?
- nova2wl, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4yeah there probably is...there are steeler fans everywhere
- SleezyG, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4From what I've seen around the interwebs people seem to think that he takes cheap shots. However that's *****! GO STEELLERS! TIME FOR THE SIX PACK!
- trshtehdsh, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3No. I love the blue jerseys. Although the black and gold(ish?) are classic 'Burgh
- souljaboytellem, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3*In 2 days*
"God DAMN that FItzgerald and Warner" - Jeffler, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3*stares at Malkin Winter Classic jersey in jersey closet*
*remembers he's a leafs fan and won't see a player half as good on our roster for another century or so*
*cries* - mynameisjonas, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3How is it that an article about jerseys on ESPN isn't written by Paul Lukas of Uni Watch? that man is the authority on sportswear on that website
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -0/+3Ward is the most underrated player on the team if not the NFL... The Steelers would be nowhere without him.... Go Ward!
- Senturion, on 01/30/2009, -1/+3I'm not a Steelers fan, but how can anyone hate Hines Ward?
The guy is always smiling and he's a fierce competitor. - skersh, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2Dugg for burying for stupid comment
- syko, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2As long as you don't count the past 10+ years of Pirates baseball ;)
- boydrew, on 01/30/2009, -1/+3Jerome Bettis's black jersey is one of the top for me. the embodiement of steelers football.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/2/2354715_84f267d78 ... - elsewhy, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2I'm ashamed to say I have a Kordell Stewart jersey somewhere in my closet.
- KazamaSmokers, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2"No such thing as a bad Pittsburgh jersey, folks."
I'll see your claim and raise you a Pittsburgh Maulers uniform. - stormgren, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2Even as a guy from Cleveland you can't do anything but give Ward credit.
Plaxico (who was on the Stillers) did a lot of cheap stuff. And still does/did on the Giants. - trshtehdsh, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2nope.
- SleezyG, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2I guess that Plaxico hit himself with a cheap shot
- OmniMe, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2Spoken from a person from Ann Arbor, MI.
- jbird32275, on 01/30/2009, -1/+3They're gonna look damn good with that 6 pack of Super Bowl rings next week, bitch.
- cquilliam, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2I don't know about Lemieux being deemed the greatest hockey player in history, but I would rank him in the top 3. Probably Orr, Lemieux and then Gretzky. Its hard to compare Orr to any other player because he re-defined the position putting up simply amazing numbers. If not been for all the knee problems, who knows what kind of stats he would have had.
I rank Lemieux ahead of Gretzky for a couple of reasons. First, Lemieux was great on a crappy team for almost all but 2-3 seasons. The poster is right in saying he struck fear in the eyes of goalies. Gretzky played for a dynamite Oiler team in the 80's where the majority of his stats were padded. He was less than great in LA, St. Louis and New York. Finally, Lemieux was the full package. He had size, skill and vision. For someone his size, he had amazing puck handling skills, and if he were healthy his entire career, he may not have come close to Gretzky's stats, but would have put up one heck of a fight.
Anyways, just my opinion. - coreydoucorey, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1Quite doubtful. Sweet, dugg it. http://manxl.org
- WorldBuilder, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1I agree wholeheartedly. Nervous, I am. AZ is good. The people sying they don't have a chance and that they are there simply by luck don't know what they're talking about.
Go STEELERS! - klitzbtc, on 01/30/2009, -1/+2Am I the only Pens fan that wouldn't be upset if the Pens moved to the powder blue jerseys full time?
- freshyill, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Are there actually any Cardinals fans?
- freshyill, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1We'll settle this on Super Bowl Sunday!
Oh wait, never mind.
P.S., The Ravens suck too. - grifta67, on 02/01/2009, -0/+1Dugg for an ESPN sportswriter having the balls to note Lemieux as the greatest of all time. Well said sir!
- SailRacer, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Like it all except for Hossa being on there. Don't get mad at him for taking less money to go play for a team with a better chance to win it all. The Pens let a number of their core role players go before Hossa came to Hockeytown.
- Hockey37, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1If Lemieux stayed healthy, he would have surpassed almost all of #99's records.
- Hockey37, on 01/30/2009, -1/+2Hossa screwed the Pens. Plain and simple. Because of him they lost Malone. ***** Hossa.
- ivand67, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1Is that why the Pens have sold out every game this season and are beating the Red Wings in local TV ratings for the past 3 seasons?
Hossa's a weasel who has done NOTHING by himself in the NHL. He will get very little credit if the Wings manage to repeat. Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen and Rafalski are all more important players on that team. - CDollars, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Wait wait wait... are you trying to tell me that the Pirates actually have fans?
- harajukukei, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1wayne gretzky has more assists than anyone else has points.. no one will ever break his records
- trshtehdsh, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1agreed. i have been taking some ***** at work for being a steelers fan, but i let 'em talk, because i want them to eat THEIR words instead of me eating mine. GO STEELERS!
- ivand67, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1If Lemieux had played for a Canadian team the jury would be out on the Gretzky vs. Mario debate.
As it is, Mario would have probably had at least half of Gretzky's records had he not gotten Hodgskin's disease (form of cancer). A healthy Lemieux in his prime was just as intimidating and dominant as Gretzky, if not better. - Jeffler, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Well he is. Who else could win the scoring title by 20 points while missing 23 games with Hodgson's Disease (Severe form of Lukemia, had to do chemo mid season).
- abadjay, on 01/30/2009, -1/+2I live in pittsburgh... and this whole area gets freakin ridiculous with any of our teams. They burn couches in the streets, flip cars, scream out in the street. Its nuts. I get really annoyed with it all... i mean its just a game!
I have also heard that the steelers have one of the biggest followings out of all the NFL teams. - FXNGLAS, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Why do they pick certain players and numbers as being the best and worst? The whole team wears the same *****.
- klitzbtc, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Yeah except the reason they switched is because the Pirates and Steelers were killing it, now the Pirates couldn't win a popcorn eating contest, so screw the black and gold loyalty.
- trshtehdsh, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1yes. I'm from pittsburgh, and when i lived there i liked the teams but i wasn't diehard, but out here, in vegas, surrounded by people who hate my teams, I BLEED black and gold. The more they hate, the more i love... afterall, it's my heritage! not to mention, we do have some pretty awesome teams. Except the Pirates. Them... not so much. I miss da Burgh n'at :(
- thehoz, on 01/31/2009, -0/+0lol nice one
- klitzbtc, on 01/30/2009, -1/+1Buried for obviously not knowing ***** about Hockey.
- PhantomRogue, on 01/30/2009, -3/+1And how many Super Bowls have the Clevelend *****-Stains won? Erm, lets rephrase that, how many have the ***** stains even BEEN TO? Thats right... a big ZILCH.
