The presence of these people - who invariably know and care nothing about the sports they're covering - is something any true fan should loath. When the sideline reporter comes on, either put it on mute and ogle her or change the channel because the things she saying won't be adding anything to the coverage.
They "sling around game terms" because they're reading from a prompter or repeating what's being said into their headset.
