- burningrobot, on 06/07/2009, -6/+65What an unflattering picture.
- FrozenPie, on 06/07/2009, -12/+71She's no Allison Stokke, I'll tell you that

- Lane, on 06/07/2009, -4/+33A Wal Mart and a gas station? That's a boom town for rural Texas!
- Hraes, on 06/07/2009, -3/+23Good god in heaven.
- samard2002, on 06/07/2009, -0/+20Rivals.com is not exactly a journalism mecca.
- Animan351, on 06/07/2009, -2/+20It would be mean if I said she looks like a guy.
- reiner15, on 06/07/2009, -7/+25don't know if they get much better
http://nbcsportsmedia1.msnbc.com/j/msnbc/Component ... - burningrobot, on 06/07/2009, -0/+15I think most schools in NY have more than 16 student's per grade. That's just an assumption, I'm from Ohio.
- teh_spazz, on 06/07/2009, -1/+14A class of 14? Jesus, LOADED high school.
- Paradiddler45, on 06/07/2009, -2/+13Apparently some Diggers aren't picking up on the Superbad quote... or just don't think it's funny.
- Dantehman17, on 06/07/2009, -2/+13No.
- chuckerton, on 06/07/2009, -1/+12Great accomplishment, horrible writing. I especially hated the condescending, over-reaching last paragraph:
-----
In a true out-of-nowhere existence over the past 12 months, Richardson speaks with the affable charm representative of small-town America still untouched by the plethora of chains and urban development. And even though she claims, "Track and field is a dying sport in Rochelle," Richardson's remarkable achievement has breathed a momentary surge of life into an otherwise quiet Texas town.

That article needs a competent editor desperately - sputti, on 06/07/2009, -0/+10Do you honestly believe this? I dont even know where to start with this.
"any top sprinter on a track and field team and they will also be one of the best in the long jump, tripple jump, hurdles, 100m, 200m, 400m "
I can see an argument for a sprinter being good at the 100 AND 200, as this is common even up through the Olympic level.
Same goes for being good at the Long Jump AND the Triple (note the single p) Jump.
But being a good sprinter does not automatically make you a good jumper, and it certainly doesnt make you good at hurdles.
Your statements simply dont hold true when you have a field of thousands if not tens of thousands of athletes.
"in a normal track meet you have to pick about 2 of those 6 events because of time contraints."
what track meets do you go to? I competed for 7 years in middle/high school, and never ever saw anyone limited to only 2 events because of time constraints. If we follow the events you claim everyone is good at, it STILL doesnt make sense.
You listed 5 sprint races. How exactly can someone not run more than 2 of those sprints, when the sprints are rodered specifically to allow events of similar distances to be run by the same athlete?
Triple Jump and Long Jump are almost never done at the same time because the tracks are commonly placed alongside each other, if they dont use the exact same runway for both events. You really believe someone couldnt do both of these events back to back and not one other event over those "two days" you claim most track meets take place over?
I really don't know what your motive was in your very inaccurate post, but please do a little more research before coming in and trying to diminish someone else's accomplishment. - ifruit, on 06/07/2009, -4/+14I don't know why you're getting dug down, it's the truth.
- asgardshill, on 06/07/2009, -1/+11I'm quite sure that none of the idiots slamming this exceptional young woman for her looks here on Digg have supermodels lined up at the doors of their mother's basements themselves. Pathetic *****, the lot of you.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 06/07/2009, -0/+10Awesome story, but either this made no sense or I was reading it wrong. It said that her hometown's high school, Rochelle, didn't have a track so she practiced at Brady High School. But then it said she was the valedictorian of Brady. I'm confused.
- getpumped87, on 06/08/2009, -0/+97% of her class will win a state championship by themselves
- collution, on 06/07/2009, -1/+10That definitely depends on the state. A 5A in some states could be like a 3A in others.
- Nintendesert, on 06/07/2009, -16/+24I saw the picture and thought this was maybe the high school special olympics.
- minnymoo, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7They really couldn't have found a better picture?
- zantos420, on 06/07/2009, -1/+8what? because there's no glitter and plastic? stfu.
- vsujohn2, on 06/07/2009, -2/+9You look like you got duggz down.
- diggerwut, on 06/07/2009, -1/+8Mmmmm, prime rib sandwich.
- chronopublish, on 06/07/2009, -0/+6The greatest number of comments are usually going to be seen in controversial topics where people are going to get into heated arguments. You're reading too deeply into this, I think.
- Paradiddler45, on 06/07/2009, -2/+8A 5A in Texas is like a 13A in other states.
- soulpatch, on 06/08/2009, -0/+6a much better picture of the girl:
http://blogs.suntimes.com/sportsprose/bonnie-richa ... - MichaelCorleone, on 06/07/2009, -12/+17"She's a freak...she's the fastest kid alive"
- dashdingo, on 06/07/2009, -0/+5Huh. I only thought you could do three events. Must be different rules from NY.
- wilf_brim, on 06/07/2009, -0/+5I hope that she does well at A&M. It sounds like she has her head screwed on pretty straight: most high school stars have a bad time of it when they get to a Div I AA school, where everybody on the team (more or less) was the star of their league.
- Dantehman17, on 06/07/2009, -3/+8Negative, look closer at the pictures.
- maynardw, on 06/07/2009, -2/+7Yea Walmart has sucked the life from those towns. I used to live near there :[
- doctressjulia, on 06/07/2009, -3/+7She's awesome. Hell, yeah, woman.
- rgranger, on 06/07/2009, -0/+4Must differ from state to state. In Indiana the rule is 4 events.
- EIEAviv2008, on 06/07/2009, -1/+5Many small state divisions rely heavily on 1 athlete in many of there track and field events to score at the state meet. Its not uncommon to see people double, triple or even compete in all 4 events on the 1A and 2A level (we have up to 3A in IL).
Also, the Texas state track and field meet was pushed back a month due to swine flu. - schrutefan, on 06/08/2009, -0/+4How did she do in the relays?
- TheGuruStud, on 06/07/2009, -1/+4+1 lol
- ItchyAsshole, on 06/07/2009, -5/+8Score one for whitey!
- Dantehman17, on 06/07/2009, -3/+6Agreed.
- yurishoujo, on 06/08/2009, -5/+8Why does it matter? This article was about a kid being an excellent track and field athlete, not eye candy for a bunch of horny diggers.
- gsmaverick, on 06/08/2009, -0/+3They probably all have Three Wolf Moon T-Shirts.
- Sloi, on 06/08/2009, -0/+3That's not a woman, it's a MAN, baby!
*starts yanking on his hair*

- InfernoX, on 06/08/2009, -0/+3It's like double jumping with the Scout in TF2, only a triple jump.
- XkenX87, on 06/08/2009, -1/+3Well 10 bucks says she is still a ***** driver.
I can pick on someone better than me with no proof and still make myself feel better. - GMH24, on 06/07/2009, -3/+5I was in the 800m league final my senior year, in first place with 100m to go... I heard steps gaining on my right, so pushed with everything I had. 20 meters to go, and I can see a runner out of the corner of my eye slowly passing me, ends up beating me by less than .5 seconds. It was my little brother, he was a sophomore, and I had managed to hold him off all season up until then.
- zakool21, on 06/08/2009, -0/+2More than 16 student's WHAT per grade?
Anyway, it seems like there is either a super-athlete or super genius at just about every high school, but it's rare that you see the two together. -
