- NikoKun, on 02/09/2009, -34/+344Subway takes pride in being ignorant and mislead.
Occasional marijuana use is not unhealthy nor does it make you less active.
And this whole event would never have harmed the sponsors, had they left it alone and let it pass... But since they felt the need to kick out Phelps, just for smoking a little pot... They've got a far bigger Boycott to worry about now.
Which is fine by me... Subway's sandwiches always suck anyway. Quiznos all the way! - tavallai, on 02/09/2009, -25/+258Dude, not even stoners with a massive case of the munchies would want to eat Subway anyway.
- BigCalhoun, on 02/09/2009, -17/+245Quiznos > Subway
No big loss. - Midtowner, on 02/09/2009, -17/+212Subway sells lots of soft drinks. I guarantee you that soft drinks are the cause of more health problems in the U.S. and around the world than marijuana ever will be. The use of high fructose corn syrup and other artificial ingredients in both the soft drinks they sell as well as some of the crap in their sandwiches makes them complete hypocrites if their chief objection to marijuana use is that it's harmful to the health.
The other sponsor which has withdrawn its support for Phelps is even more guilty of this -- Kellog's -- you know, the folks who run ads during kids shows showing cartoon characters enjoying cereals filled with artificial ingredients, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc. How exactly do these folks get to claim the moral high ground here? - 1plant1world, on 02/09/2009, -25/+205Well, they've just lost my business - idiots.
- ectocooler, on 02/09/2009, -7/+171too bad THEY'RE only left with jared.
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -18/+163Can these holier-than-thou companies who are all butt hurt about Phelps taking a harmless toke just shut up already?
Kellogg's is my personal fave. They had to drop Phelps because they didn't want to 'harm their image'. Uh, must not know your OWN history, morons. James Kellogg was a puritan nut case of the first order and created Corn Flakes as an anti-masturbation health meal. Look it up!
People smoke pot. STFU and deal with it. Who friggin' cares? - ethanpack, on 02/09/2009, -3/+139Quiznos: Mmm... toast(ed). Maybe they should pick up Phelps as a little publicity stunt.
- FI5HERMAN, on 02/09/2009, -12/+141Will all this ever blow over !!!
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -14/+140Add to the boycott list... Kelloggs and Subway....
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -39/+163Too bad their only left with Jared...
- gabbagabba, on 02/09/2009, -5/+99Most of the employees at Subway are high as a kite anyway.
- pensivewombat, on 02/09/2009, -3/+77When I worked at subway I'd say at least 25% of the customers were stoned, so this may not work out well for them.
- konforce, on 02/09/2009, -6/+78Having the endorsement of a convicted DUI offender doesn't bother them, but the endorsement of somebody holding a pipe does.
- aduric, on 02/09/2009, -11/+82They're gonna get toasted.
- Slashered, on 02/09/2009, -18/+87Idiots.
- Prod_Deity, on 02/09/2009, -2/+65I can see it in my head now....
Phelps: "Quiznos sandwiches & I are a lot alike, we're both really toasted."
Sorry, I had to. - peteymack, on 02/09/2009, -5/+63"Think outside the Bong."
- GoldenGateJen, on 02/09/2009, -9/+65You would think this is their target market!
- kurttrail, on 02/09/2009, -5/+57Dude, did your father blow hits in your face when you were a kid or something?
There ain't nothing wrong with pot. People have been planting it since long before the Bible was even written. - damndj, on 02/09/2009, -17/+67***** you Subway. You're not good for the munchies anyway.
- specter19, on 02/09/2009, -0/+4425% of any restaurant customers are stoned. It's an eating establishment, they're drawn to it.
- gttim, on 02/09/2009, -4/+45Who needs Phelps when they have Jared!? He takes long walks after eating his subs! What a stud!
- Birdoftruth, on 02/09/2009, -4/+44I hate the word Snafu
- dmpdpete, on 02/09/2009, -6/+45i'm gonna stop going there now and im not an activist
- hellotyler, on 02/09/2009, -10/+49Subway just lost a customer.
- cachemoney, on 02/09/2009, -11/+43You would have to be high to eat a subway sandwich, I don't understand how this works for them.
- anaclagon, on 02/09/2009, -6/+38Dude, did your father blow hits in your face when you were a kid or something?
There ain't nothing wrong with pot. People have been planting it since long before the Bible was even written. - URnotheonly1, on 02/09/2009, -18/+49***** stupid.
- terminal157, on 02/09/2009, -0/+30By a LOT.
- CVL4317, on 02/09/2009, -14/+44hope they drop the sandwich price down after this one.
- hydroplane, on 02/09/2009, -0/+29and 99.9% of their employees
- lazerflesh, on 02/09/2009, -7/+36Oh man, some quiznos sounds awesome right now. Their subs are huge and they specialize in melted subs !!
- o1001o1001o, on 02/09/2009, -2/+31I support this 100%
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -0/+29As sad as it is, you're fighting a losing battle.
- inactive, on 02/09/2009, -5/+33Didn't see this coming.
I used to work at 2 different Subway, ALL of my bosses in both locations used to smoke weed during the weekends. The place sucked, the pay sucked, and my bosses sucked. - idc5, on 02/09/2009, -10/+37***** Subway. I'm going always go and buy better tasting, slightly more expensive Quizno's sandwiches from now on.
- Khast, on 02/09/2009, -0/+27If Phelps was caught smoking a cigarette, none of the sponsors would have batted an eye. Even though it has some major impacts to health.
If he was caught having a beer, or hard alcohol, the sponsors wouldn't have complained any. While alcohol has some health benefits, alcohol also has some major deadly health side effects as well.
Although Marijuana may make you funny for a while. It has medicinal properties including reducing tumor growth, and it works better than Motrin and Ibuprofen...it has very few long term effects. - GoldenGateJen, on 02/09/2009, -4/+31I would also like to add: http://www.hulu.com/watch/56636/saturday-night-liv ...
- Khast, on 02/09/2009, -3/+29Dude, did.... awww ***** it...
I don't use marijuana, and I endorse a ban on subway over this. I know people who use, and frankly none of the ***** facts that the "War on Drugs" claims...are even remotely true. One of the persons I know own a million dollar house, so success has nothing to do with use of the drug. - Pustulio42, on 02/09/2009, -0/+26Except that Subways are franchised so you would just been screwing over some local business owner who had no say in the decision.
- mx13punk, on 02/09/2009, -1/+26"Look Phelps... I think it's time we talked business."
- White Castle - porkisyummy, on 02/09/2009, -1/+25I, for one, thought this was an opportunity for Subway to capitalize on the situation for some viral marketing.
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/1061/sandwichks ... - inactive, on 02/09/2009, -4/+26they just lost my $5
- zip000, on 02/09/2009, -0/+21Back in college - that's code obviously - I used to love Subway's meatball sub when I was really, really...in college.
- enclaved, on 02/09/2009, -2/+23yeah I wonder what food and drugs have to do with each other.
lets ask the FDA... - d3dm, on 02/09/2009, -0/+20Gives new meaning to "Frosted" Flakes, eh?
- bigfatphony19, on 02/09/2009, -9/+28***** Subway in the mouth.
- solid12345, on 02/09/2009, -2/+21Yeah i'm sure your local pissant illegal alien making your sandwiches knows the status of Phelps endorsement.
