- Sharkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43Holy crap #4 was insane! Side-kicking a catcher in the throat and then going after the pitcher
- maverick999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Here are the top 10 fights:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma1A5cBB0Y4&NR - canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22pretty cool, but pre bartuzzi and pistons/pacers fiasco which definately deserve a spot. that rudy t punch never gets old, most devastating punch in sports history, including boxing.
- thejokell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Yeah but it wasn't the "coolest fights," it was the most unsportsmanlike moments. Spitting in the face of an umpire is pretty damned unsportsmanlike.
- right75, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21We don't care about sports outside of the United States.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Yeah, I'd have to say #4 was tops. And he didn't even get hit. Every game you'll see a high and tight pitch worse than that. Talk about overreacting.
I actually thought some of those were really lame. I mean, in all the recorded history of sports fights and feuds, we get stuff like spitting at an opponent in the NFL? Let's just say I'm pretty confident that's not the first (or last) time that's happened. Still, dugg for about half of them that were pretty good. - pacdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Yes, but these are top 10 unsportsmanlike plays. So, since it was unsportsmanlike, I'd put it at 5 or 4.
- bloqmon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Thats no-rules, of course its gonna be rough. Imagine what it would be like in US sports if we didnt have rules? All those crazy ex cons hopped up on steroids, it would be like Unreal Tournament.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15Zidane's headbutt didn't actually injure anybody. Sure, it's unsportsmanlike, but it doesn't even remotely compare to some of the injuries suffered here. It's not even in the same league as the Mike Tyson bite.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9this is sportcenter... of course its going to be american highlights....
- mlorimer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Zidane's headbutt was nothing. He hit him in the chest, then the Italian did what they did through the whole world cup dove to make Greg Louganis proud. If Zidane wanted to hurt him, he would have kicked him. He is a soccer player, he can kick. He was just telling him he was serious. It's too bad the media blew the incident out of proportions to Mar an otherwise amazing soccer career of one of the sport's best players ever.
- monkeycat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Baseball fights are great - It's a melee every time.
- gatorsrule21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think that Bertuzzi attacking Steve Moore should be on there.
- umdigger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"almost like died"
....wow - Adenosine, on 10/12/2007, -15/+21Where would Zidane's headbutt fall you think, I'd say 2 or 3
- monkeycat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Nolan Ryan.
- TheoDork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If it starts at "9" how can it be the top ten?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Where the hell is Sportcenter on your TV?
A headbutt for being called a terrorist < punch to the nuts. - rritterson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Why the hell don't you read the other comments before posting?
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7gayest moment in sports history: A-Rod slapping the ball out of Bronson Arroyo's hand when he was trying to tag him out on the way to first base. I don't think you can get any more limp-wristed than that (literally and figuratively).
- codyman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Whatever happened to that one hockey player who went up behind the other and threw him straight to the ground and the guy almost like died?
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Uh, injuries shown here?"
Well, you might want to at least learn about the Kermit Washington/Rudy Tomjanovich punch. Basically his face caved in and spinal fluid was leaking into his mouth. - Mace37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They're all sucker punches, the only thing worse than getting hit hard is not expecting it. The one on Turgeon was really cheap, I can't believe someone would do that.
- keeper1616, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41) It's Don Zimmer - you should know your hall of famers
2) Leave it to a Red Sox player to beat the ***** out of a helpless old guy.
3) Leave it to a Red Sox fan to bring it up 3 years after the fact. Even the Yankees fans have tried to put this behind them it was so low. - TheAngryMob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And that's just the fans!
- umdigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Punching the top of someone's head is not the best place to hit them.
- mangojump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that just made me feel sad :-(
- M-ACE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think this is pre - Bertuzzi's but yeah... that should be up there in the top 3.
- DanElHombre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To reiterate the previous posts, Zidane is recent, the video is old.
EDIT:
rritterson beat me to the 'punch' - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3what about sprewell's headbutt, didn't he go after a coach
- TheoDork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The reason he kicked the catcher is because he thought the catcher was giving the sign to the pitcher to throw at him. I'm not saying that makes it okay, but...it does make it hilarious.
- JFalt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think Baron Davis did something like that 2 years ago where he missed on purpose so he could get his own rebound.
- TheoDork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is anybody forgetting Todd Bertuzzi's sucker-mugging of Steve Moore?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiLlz4-vUFg
I'm not even a huge hockey fan, but I think this is one of the worst incidents by one athlete in American sports history. - davidzet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These "players" should be thrown out of the "game" and sent to Iraq to guard an American flag.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not the guy I'm thinking of, but that's still a Grade-F Turd.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great to watch, but also sad to see it's the most interesting part of American sports.
Why can't they just grow up? - jegerpenge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow. I'm not at all surprised by ESPN's glaring bias against soccer. They failed to mention one of the worst, Eric Cantona's flying kick into the stands trying to attack a Crystal Palace fan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynERYD_uzEg - JeffT1545, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's also from an American television program.
- JakeWalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It was Jason Varitek, not Kevin Millar.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@mecole21 : "then turn on ESPN"
Newsflash buddy, not everyone has ESPN. In fact it might be worth my while to remind you that more people _don't_ have it than those who do. Thank god. - spisska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Where's the one of the Vikings lineman breaking Jim McMahon's shoulder and ending his career?
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6umm its not there cause the video isn't exactly new... look at the bottom line... then turn on ESPN, the bottom line doesn't currently look like that, same with the sportscenter graphics at the beginning...
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Super Smash Pitchers Melee!!! Choose your character!
- bluehouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and these are the "role models" so many kids look up to. It's like the ***** leading the *****
- umdigger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If any athlete caused severe bodily harm on purpose, they should be banned from playing professional sports ever again.
- TargetDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Woody Hayes punch was hardly one. More of a slap really. Ridiculous to put that as number one.
- daworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonya_Harding#The_Kerrigan_attack
- wonderboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why was that one girl crying near the beginning of the video? Did I miss something?
- Testify.Alex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2how about Pedro Matinez throwing Don Dimmer like a human bowling ball
http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2004/11/17/1100706901_5904.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2sprewell tried to choke a coach. But IIRC it wasn't captured on video..... thankfully.
