SportsCenter Will Start Airing Live

sports.espn.go.com — Starting Aug. 11 -- the opening week of the Beijing Olympic Games -- SportsCenter will begin airing live from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. ET on weekdays.

Re-airing classic NFL Films stuff and so on would be much more entertaining daytime programming than mentioning A-Rod's latest fielding error every 15 minutes for 9 straight hours.

This is solely about hte morning ones that until now have just been endless repeats. But most ESPN news shows are originally live.

By leaving the key bit of information (that would have fit in the character limit) it changes the entire meaning of the story and makes it false.

  • Blue_Eon, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6Slightly off topic, but am I the only one who thinks SportsCenter is almost unwatchable due to the amount of filler, fluff, and non-news they try and drum up?

    Between opening with who Tony Romo is dating, the latest thing T.O. said, or this Spygate thing that isn't really as big a deal is they are making it to be, it seems as if they are putting real scores, stats, and highlights on the backburner for more tabloid or drama filled "news".

    I call it E!SPN now because there' so little real news as opposed to debating, analyzing, and trying to drum up faux news and it's all just fluff pieces now.

SportsCenter is pretty tabloid-esque... it seems like every day they tease it with something like "Find out why the Boston Red Sox will lose 162 games this season (according to our crack-smoking commentator), but first, let's hear the latest Tony Romo news..."

It's not clever anymore. It makes you sound like an idiot. Stuart Scott is the worst!

    Sportscenter has ALWAYS been live. The 6:00 8:00 and 11:00 or whenever they air at night ARE LIVE. They have been live forever. (At least since the mid 90s.)

    This article is talking about the MORNING repeats only. Jesus Christ...how do you think that they are able to give you up to the second updates on games in progess?

    So all these jokes about them swearing, etc. are meaningless. If they were going to do that, they could have done it already at 11:00 PM.
