- IanPR, on 09/06/2008, -9/+82That's retarded... jail time for going 20km/h over the speed limit?
How can he lose his license over something that doesn't REQUIRE a license?!?! - tpclicker, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5262mph, that's awesome!
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -0/+51He should also be given a medal of awesome
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -0/+39If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious *****.
- inactive, on 09/07/2008, -2/+34why dont they catch the real criminals...
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+29"Stoeckle said the man faces charges for interfering with traffic safety and endangering motorists, and would lose his driver's license and face a "substantial fine."
If they want to fine, ok, but why should he lose his driver's license when he was on a skateboard? - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -0/+23The germans take the act of driving a bit more seriously than we do here in the states. The implication here is that the skateboarder has demonstrated a complete and total lack of regard for the rules.
- drexy, on 09/07/2008, -0/+17Noone ever said he faces jail time. From the article
"Stoeckle said the man faces charges for interfering with traffic safety and endangering motorists, and would lose his driver's license and face a "substantial fine." He denied media reports the skateboarder would face a one-year jail sentence." - NinjaGod, on 09/07/2008, -1/+17Let the man ride.
- Fmunkey, on 09/07/2008, -0/+13It;s not such a big deal, he pretty much was going straight, and he had leathers and a full face on. Now these guys, it's just amazing.

- awarnick, on 09/06/2008, -2/+13No one ever said law enforcement officers made sense.
- Murdats, on 09/07/2008, -1/+11shut up!
- spezi, on 09/07/2008, -0/+9AFAIK, in Germany you can also lose your driving license if you severely endanger traffic on public roads. This also includes eg riding a bike while over the alcohol limit (which is 1.5 permille for cyclists).
Apparently, this stunt is considered to be "severely endangering traffic". - philz, on 09/07/2008, -1/+9Can speeding get any greener than this? :-)
- badenglishihave, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8As far as I know from friends that have visited Germany, they have very strict laws regulating driving. While this particular incident seems a bit over the top, I do like that Germany has tough DUI laws and a difficult drivers test.
Maybe riding a skateboard at 62 kmph doesn't mean you will speed in an automobile but at least Germany is trying to keep crazy people off the road. - emmet, on 09/07/2008, -1/+7yeah, that's how it works over here. you can for example also get in trouble/lose your license for riding a bicycle drunk and stuff like that... the reasoning behind it is that, as the article states, you endangered other motorists, and i suppose it doen't matter what "vehicle" you are using. yeah, i guess it's kinda weird, but i think it makes sense in a way.
- jsdratm, on 09/07/2008, -0/+5I would ***** bricks going that fast on a skateboard
- IG64, on 09/07/2008, -1/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWLbu1wIIEo
Because I can't watch it enough times. - charlieplex, on 09/07/2008, -0/+5this dude is a menace and should be put away!
just kidding, that is amazing, I'd be crappin'' my pants at 13mph - awarnick, on 09/07/2008, -0/+5I would be crapping my pants at 1mph.
- nomadofthewaves, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4Because they can't even catch a skateboarder?
- D0P3M4N, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4Yes, then the guy would've gotten killed.
- Homerr, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4Wow, one little rock on the road and it would have been all over.
- awarnick, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4This is nuts.. You have to be crazy.
- valentine76, on 09/07/2008, -2/+6Why is this even an issue? He should be commended! Imagine how liberating that would feel cruising the hwy like that, ***** that's the life right there!
- Zoojeff, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Longboard FTW!
- SeventhSon, on 09/07/2008, -3/+6Don't they usually uses longer boards for that kinda thing?
- eliot2000, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Look for the guy whose face has been scraped off.
- mfdoomm, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3you could of least done a rickroll
- Heidenreich12, on 09/07/2008, -1/+4thats terrible, he wasn't going that much faster than the speed limit. Speed Nazi's
- TurdZilla, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3No charge for Awesomeness !!!
- waitasec, on 09/07/2008, -1/+4What exactly was dangerous to other motor vehicles? The video clearly shows that there were at least two other vehicles involved acting as blocking vehicles. The skater never passed another vehicle, indicating sufficient time was given to allow other traffic to exit the area, and there was no two-way traffic.
The only thing this crew did wrong was failure to obtain a permit. - MrSmith34, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3leave it to those silly, zany, fun loving, thrill seeking Germans!
- MrTulip, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2lol
"That's retarded... jail time for..." - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -2/+4There are no real criminals in Germany....
- time4wrk, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2The motorcycle dude right?
- cygnus2112, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2And when they arrest a 9 year old skateboarder.. are they going to revoke his driver's license too?
- FiZiX610, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2Reminds me of a friend of a friend that got a DUI on his bicycle and lost his license. What *****; the only person he'd hurt would be himself!
- Fmunkey, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2Yup, it's called longboarding. The focus isnt on grinding, ollies, or the usual tricks. Some speedboard, some do slalom, and some just chill on the board. They give a smoother ride.
- hypodan, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2I crapped my pants just thinking about it.
- keyforce, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2You can lose your license in some states (maybe all?) for various crimes including drug offenses (license suspended upon conviction) even if there was no vehicle involved in the incident.
At least in the case of the skateboarder, it involved a motorway. - MunkeyPirate, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2Imagine the case of road rash one could end up with if you hit a pebble.
Ouch! - chrgrose, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2The new ghostrider?
- dstz, on 09/07/2008, -1/+2don't use a motorcycle?
- mjr4189, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1that's ***** awesome....
they shouldnt do anything to him. i don't think riding down a hill on your stomach is illegal. i could be wrong though. - MrTulip, on 09/07/2008, -1/+2"[stoeckle the police spokesman] denied media reports the skateboarder would face a one-year jail sentence." RTFA
furthermore, if you want to keep your drivers license you'll have to be 'responsible in traffic' which such stunts aren't. it could even inhibit you from obtaining a license in the first place when the police deems it necessary to contact the authority which hands out the licenses. other examples include drug offenses (but mostly DUI). - MichaelSR, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1I came across a guy putting a windsurfing rig on a flowboard - absolutely off his head!
- jsp123, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1Looks like they can't do either :)
