- mescad, on 05/02/2008, -2/+19He is responsible for one of the largest charitable donations in history. Last year he gave $10 billion to set up an education fund to help bridge the knowledge gap between the Arab parts of the world and the rest of the developed world. He started Dubai Cares (www.dubaicares.ae) which works with UNICEF to education millions of poor kids in developing nations.
If he wants to spent some of his money to play with horses (which creates quite a few jobs), I'll cut him some slack. - chrisinsocalif, on 05/02/2008, -1/+12Yankees and Red Sox bought really good and expensive championship teams, so maybe it will work with horse racing.
- TripleAStacked, on 05/02/2008, -1/+9I love this guy's vision. He wants everything for his people, he wants his country to be #1 unlike other ARAB countries who spend their money on building more palaces instead of expanding their economy. In the long run countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq and others will be in deep trouble when their Oil runs out and the rest of the world moves to an alternative energy.
- Premier, on 05/02/2008, -2/+9cause enough people found it interesting ...
- breakspirit, on 05/02/2008, -3/+10I dunno, she looks pretty ordinary to me. The comments for that photo are ***** weird though.

- dondara, on 05/02/2008, -7/+12He's rich. He was born rich. All his friends and family are rich. Why would he ever give a ***** about anybody else? Where's the profit in that? I think he is really try to prove that money can buy a lot of things but it can't buy class. A turd with gold jewelry is still a piece of *****.
- elhaf, on 05/02/2008, -0/+4You can easily buy a derby victory for a billion. Just buy all the damn horses.
- fxu1989, on 05/02/2008, -1/+5I bet he cleans his ass with $100 bills.
- mescad, on 05/02/2008, -1/+5The Kentucky Derby is tomorrow, and this is a story about a guy who owns 25% of the entries.
- hiPpymIck, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3he seems to be in the middle of a battle for World domination about that..
"Sheik Mohammed has made no secret of his desire to win America’s biggest race. But it’s his battles in the auction ring that really have the horse world’s attention.
Over the past few decades, the Maktoums have gone head-to-head for the best horses with a secretive Irish billionaire named John Magnier.
Always surrounded by a bevy of advisers, Magnier has long dominated the breeding industry, in which owners pay up to $500,000 to have their mares “covered” by a stallion with the right heritage, looks, and track record.
His company, Coolmore, is a brand name in its native Ireland as well as the largest stallion manager in the world.
Magnier’s pursuit of horses with the most prized bloodlines for stud income has kept him in heated competition with Sheik Mohammed, who is looking for the best racers.
Now the sheik has set his sights on reaching the top of the stallion business in America, and the rivalry between the Irish and the Arabs—as the industry shorthand goes—has grown hostile.
Coolmore won’t send its best horses to race in Dubai, and for the past two years, the Maktoums have refused to send their mares to Coolmore stallions or even to buy any horse with Coolmore bloodlines.

http://flickr.com/photos/emaratiprincess-_the_shei ... - reflex768, on 05/02/2008, -3/+6Has to be frustrating. But were I Sheik Mohammed, I'd be content just to watch Haya ride all day. She's not your ordinary princess: http://flickr.com/photos/emaratiprincess-_the_shei ...
- tucsonwc, on 05/02/2008, -1/+3You need some education. He has PERSONALLY given $10 BILLION for just education alone. And he has continued the tradition of making UAE a great place for their citizens.
- web2pointYo, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2heard (and corrected) you the first time.
- ZeroIce, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2I live in Lexington, KY and I always see these sheiks around downtown going to their fancy restaurants... If you ever come to Central KY, you have to go to Keeneland. Just a tip, you'll thank me..
- groone, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2Princess Haya is babe-a-licious http://www.princesshaya.net/
- web2pointYo, on 05/02/2008, -0/+26 million here...11 million there...thats just pocket money for this guy.
You and I spend a larger percentage of our income on gas every month than he does on these horses. - ManoWar, on 05/02/2008, -1/+3Well said. This guy is making major moves to brings peace between the west and the middle east. Probably more so than anyone on the planet.
- orlyfactor, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Not just any glasses, the biggest ***** glasses on Earth. Made me vomit a little in my mouth just looking at those pics. thanks!
- PhantomRogue, on 05/02/2008, -4/+5Ahh, so thats why Oil is going up so fast, so they can buy more and more racing horses!
/sarcasm - aphexconspiracy, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Thats not the princess.
- tucsonwc, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Roads and highway infrastructure. next question?
- web2pointYo, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1You said it asshat!
- ManoWar, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1but remember his income is like 35 million a day. He is the King of an oil rich kingdom.
- tucsonwc, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Those are the writings of a jealous person. Do a little research.
- hamidious, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1He's really a great leader, done a great job for Dubai and his people, and is very loved by them. However, this just makes him look like a stupid *****. He should just give me the damn money.
- CedEx, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1$11.7 Million dollars for a horse?!
- sircomix, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2I guess my main problem is, I personally am broke and could use a few mil.
- AbdullahAbuDawu, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1You're talking about like wasting money on horses while his people are in a state of squalor? These Muslim leaders should be sending all their extra money to our brothers in Palestine, Irag, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Darfur, China, Indonesia, Myanmar, etc.
The leaders should live in the SAME state as their people. We cannot 'play with horses' until our brothers and sisters in the poorest of countries have food and water. - web2pointYo, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Animal NASCAR! Sweet!
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1If you are talking about spelling: it's English
If you are talking about the measurement. It's worldwide apart from Liberia, Myanmar and the United States. - ahhell, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1I'd like to know why she's wearing 2 pairs of glasses.
- Sbebo, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1Wow... I can't remotely fathom spending several million dollars on a horse.
Too bad he still hasn't won yet even after spending all those millons. - zrcochran, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1From the side, she sorta looks like Pam from The Office
- appurtenance, on 05/02/2008, -1/+1Not Zelda related? ;
I should have read more than the first word. - TexasShiv, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2The answer is, Absolutely.
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -5/+4Those eyes are the eyes of a man that owns slaves and uses them at his whim.
- mescad, on 05/02/2008, -3/+2Well 'they' in this case are from Dubai, where oil revenue accounts for less than 3% of the GDP. Nice try though.
- CedEx, on 05/02/2008, -1/+0I only watch for the crashes.
- fitqueenb, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1He does have a pretty princess, and I am guessing this is his challenge... he can buy just about anything else.

- ManoWar, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1You pay almost 50 cents per gallon in tax. Maybe you should ask our government where that money has gone and why state taxs on gas are going up. Key word to remember Profit Margin
- PhattyPhattMatt, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1dugg down for the european litre...
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1wow thats so much.
