- vivsriaus, on 10/02/2008, -0/+4Yay to Cricket on Digg! [insert an irrelevant customary 4chan meme]
- gasin, on 10/02/2008, -0/+4I am guessing eiher the whole Hufington Post staff took a day off or MrBabyMan has suddenly started to like Cricket.
On a different note, I really wish Selection Committee rotates the older experienced players with the younger ones in these series. Oh well... - dracken, on 10/02/2008, -1/+5Let me break it down for the clueless USians.
Cricket is somewhat like baseball. It used to be a sport where show of aggression was regarded "ungentlemanly". If the bowler (pitcher) bowled a good one, it was customary for the batsman to acknowledge it with a nod. Indians especially were very very courteous.
But things moved on, people were getting aggressive. Countries like Australia started the practice of sledging, where the players near the batsman would make comments to infuriate the batsman, hoping that he would hit a rash shot and get out (sorry to my aussie friends, I love your cricket, you are still world #1). Indians were still courteous.
Then came along ganguly. (The running joke was "whats the difference between god and ganguly ? atleast god doesnt think he is ganguly"). He started giving out inflammatory interviews dissing the opponent teams. If the lost, he would poke fun at them, point out their weakness and generally gloat (hoping to psych them out for the next match). On the field, once, when sledged, he hit the ball out of the park and then took his shirt off. He became a great hit and a new breed of young Indian players modeled their aggression after him. The field has been leveled a bit now.
But age has caught up with the "prince of bengal". And he started to not get selected for the national team (the selectors favored younger players). Now he has been selected again to play against the aussies, people believe that it would be his last series and he will announce his retirement. - handenry, on 10/02/2008, -0/+3i lol'd
- inefekt, on 10/03/2008, -0/+3Cricket's a religion to over a quarter of the world's population, get over it.
- nerendir, on 10/02/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Cricket on front page!
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4Its a do or die situation for this great southpaw...Hope to see some elegant fireworks from our DADA...
- mahadiga, on 10/02/2008, -2/+4Doesn't Bengal have better and younger cricketers than Ganguly?
- warragul, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2Australia doesn't have a good track record in India. And, given the performance they are putting on in a "friendly" game at the moment, things aren't going to change.
- victoryguy, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2Nice to see Cricket article on Digg front page
they Selected him to give Great Farewell
He deserves Honorable Exit - weemundo, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2WTF... ?!?!?! Cricket Story on front page , ok no problem , but the article sucked !! Digg is about to die.
- inefekt, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1You might even make some English, South African, New Zealand, West Indian, Bangladeshi, Zimbabwean or even Kenyan friends. On the other hand, if this were an article about the NFL then you'll only hope to make some American friends. Quite sad.
- thebigmammoo, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1Me thinks the Indians didn't get the sarcasm...
- sathias, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I was thinking the same thing :)
- sidhu1982, on 10/02/2008, -1/+2So this is a nice place to make some Indian, Pakistani or Sri Lankan friends. Maybe even some Aussies.
Cricket on Digg. Something's definitely wrong. - Grimlock82, on 10/02/2008, -6/+7Yep, getting smashed by Australia sounds like an honourable exit.
- arkavat, on 10/02/2008, -1/+2DADA deserves the spot on Digg front page! Dugg!
- inefekt, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1Unfortunately I have to agree. Aus beat India last time with one of the great teams in history including the likes of McGrath, Warne, Langer et al. They're no longer playing and their replacements, especially Warne's, are well below their exceptionally high level. I just can't see us winning..........
- kevinlouis, on 10/01/2008, -3/+5Sourav Ganguly, India’s most successful captain has at last been selected ahead of Mohd. Kaif for the upcoming test series against Australia..
But he will prove himself in this test series .He will show us that odd is gold . - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -2/+2So random...
- inefekt, on 10/03/2008, -0/+0lol
nice one ;) - hollywoodphony, on 10/02/2008, -1/+1Um, what?
- thebigmammoo, on 10/02/2008, -1/+1Screw you guys.
- inefekt, on 10/03/2008, -1/+0WTF?
The guy's one of the most hated cricketers on the planet, he virtually bought his way into the side the rich little prick and his arrogance is off the scale. He certainly does not deserve an honourable exit! - fqservers, on 10/06/2008, -1/+0India vs. Australia $ 7.99 [Limited time only] TVNSports.com is offering you India vs. Australia live streaming package to watch 4 test matches live for as low as $7.99. - marcz, on 10/02/2008, -11/+1Who the hell watches cricket?! Hail the power of mindless hordes from India who've found their way to Digg.
- ripple123, on 10/02/2008, -16/+3I'm sorry, but any sport that breaks for lunch is just too boring. The only test going on here is the test of ones tolerance for boredom.
