- tm13lke, on 11/23/2008, -0/+69rodney is better in the real world than i am at tony hawks pro skater
- TommyTikal, on 11/23/2008, -2/+39That's one of the most impressive displays of talent that I've seen in a very long time.
I can only imagine the self discipline required to reach that level of proficiency. This has me thinking I should pick up Skateboarding when the snow melts. I might as well give it a shot while I'm still young. - MisterGnome, on 06/13/2009, -0/+37Dugg for almost hitting Jack Nicholson.
- kayuri, on 11/23/2008, -0/+29Seems like this guy can't walk without his skateboard :)
- ElGranMonkador, on 11/23/2008, -1/+26i dont think anyone here realises the significance of rodney mullen.. he was to flatland and freestyle skating what tony hawk was to vert. mullen invented (almost) EVERYTHING to do with street skating today.. he was so badass in the 80s, that any comp he was in was a race for second place for everyone else.
and i met him once in melbourne. albeit briefly - Chirp08, on 11/23/2008, -0/+21When you get out there and start trying some of the simpler tricks your admiration of Rodney's ability will double.
- thingfromuranus, on 11/23/2008, -0/+20is it me or did skateboarding suddenly get more awesome?
- Inaktivist, on 11/23/2008, -1/+18Rodney Mullen is ***** incredible. The perfect blend of old and new school.
...he is just so damn good. - Poblasai, on 11/23/2008, -0/+14I believe your referring to the first song "Train in Vain" by The Clash. Mick Jones sang that song, not Joe Strummer. Mick is still alive.
Shame on you for trying to mock Joe. - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1442 years old...wow.
- ShopAisle19, on 11/23/2008, -0/+12Nice!!! Is this guy really over 40 years old......
Next up under 40 years old Louie....... - pantoneGhost, on 11/23/2008, -0/+11Jack Nicholson has no idea who almost hit him
- DanielShinall, on 11/23/2008, -0/+7I have no idea how anyone can do what he does on a skateboard.
NASA could probably learn a thing or two from him. - ggfobster, on 11/23/2008, -0/+7Rodney Mullen: the best there is, was, and ever will be.
- ArCorbin, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6Rodney Mullen is the greatest technical street skater there ever was, is, and will be. It's a shame that once he stops skating 3/4 of the tricks in that video will no longer ever be performed.
- ferrariboy430, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6mullen bails
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5zZHCv4Wkk - vrikis, on 11/23/2008, -3/+9I think it's just you, the real time of skateboarding was back during the start of the millennium... back when tony hawk first landed his 900, the world went wild, tony hawks pro skater 2 and thrasher for play station ruled the skate nation, when jackass was still good... I loved those times...
- theadvinci, on 11/23/2008, -2/+8This vid makes me pretty envious... I can't even make an Ollie.
But at least I have some BMX skills. - borez, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5OMFG it is as well.
- roxgod666, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5Actually he is the Michael Jordan of skateboarding.
- ElGranMonkador, on 11/23/2008, -1/+6mark gonzales. dont count me for a retard mate..
met him once too, at an exhibition in sydney with lee ralph. - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4No, no, no. Michael Jordan is the Rodney Mullen of basketball.
- scratend0788, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4i think that afet seeing clips like this.
i usually get about as far as doing an ollie before i give up.
but i guess he makes it look so easy you feel like youll be nearly at his level in a week. - rustyrobot, on 11/23/2008, -4/+8Okay Digg, it's a great video and all but we don't need to see it every month.
- BattleChimp, on 11/24/2008, -0/+4Sarcasm doesn't work unless you type /s
- geoken, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4It's just you. Mullen has been doing this for decades.

- MadHarvey, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4I've probably seen this video 100 times, and I never noticed that it was Jack Nicholson. I'm and idiot.
- borez, on 11/23/2008, -1/+4Rodney Mullen... ***** skate god, bar non.
- mooseofshadows, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Rodney Mullen and The Clash? Instadigg.
- Iggins, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Ooooo i cannot wait for Skate.2!!
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40592.html - thecolorifix, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Here's the whole thing with Daewon Songs part also, it's not quite as entertaining to non-skaters as Rodney Mullens, but I feel it's equally as impresssive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkBL4ljHlIo&feature ... - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3I can't even do this in skate :(
- Syugo, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2lmao, that was awesome.
- spepin, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Mullen always blew my mind.
- darkein, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2There's a place where everyone can be happy.
It's the most beautiful place in the whole f*cking world.
It's made of candy canes and planes and bright red choo-choo trains,
And the meanest little boys and the most innocent little girls,
And you know I wish that I could got there.
It's a road that I have not found. - Kitymajere, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Rodney Mullen = Living Legend
Easily the best street/freestyle skater to ever live. Glad to see Rodney still outlasting and outdoing most. What he has done for the sport cannot be put into simple words. Much respect to you Rodney. - cyrix, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2Just out of curiosity why do you post a link to this video in every Rodney Mullen article that shows up on digg?
- cyrix, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2I love the video, but I hate how they crammed that music over it.
Here is Daewon Songs part with the original music:

He's not quite as smooth as Mullen, but I feel he just looks "lighter" on his board given his control. - Inaktivist, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2I was a street skater, too, but I'm pretty young. I started skating in the mid to late 90s in northern California when freestyle was pretty much non-existent. Mullen's freestyle/ground abilities really show through in his street skating and I love it. You just don't see many other street skaters mixing it up the way he does. What really amazes me is how technical his flip tricks are. I can't even comprehend the ***** he does with his board in midair.
- exboy99, on 11/23/2008, -1/+3werd, he totally spazzed when he realized who it was.
nice to see I"m not the only one who get's weird around fame. - MisterGnome, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2The hardest part is getting your feet to work in concert. I learned on carpet holding onto an exercise bike, then stationary on pavement, and only then tried it while I was actually riding. You'll get it, make sure your board has some decent pop and your trucks aren't too heavy.
- blanski, on 11/24/2008, -0/+2I agree, once you get on a skateboard and try to do ANYTHING you will begin to understand how impossibly hard this is. Just wow.
- homercles337, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Back when i was a kid Mullen was *the* freestyle skater. Not a street or ramp skater. Freestyle was all flips, spins, foot work, and hopping on a skinny ass flat board (see edit and link below). I was a street skater so didnt think freestyle was very fun--plus it looked pretty dopey. Then somewhere along the line street and freestyle kind of merged. Mullen is still very much a freestyler--i can see that in his riding now. There are TONS of guys that are better than he is because they are better rounded. That is, they started skating when there was no split between freestyle and street.
Edit, why cant you put links in-line? How stupid is that?
Edit #2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuMmT3E-KVU - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Maybe Jack was starstruck but kept his cool when he saw the camera. I bet when they stopped filming he ran back to ask Mullen to sign his deck.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2BIG FOOT!
- macktitude, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1That is amazing
- richiewrt, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1If you look closely at 1:16-1:20 you can see bigfoot walking in the background.
- Chuck1988, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1Anyone else notice the 3 Day Suit Broker in the background, LOL, thats where I get my suits.
