- rwbrinso, on 05/07/2009, -2/+21Retirement would suck, but on the other hand, after that hit, he should probably be dead. So this probably works alright.
- SDM187, on 05/07/2009, -0/+19Well, that's what you get for fighting pacquiao... whatcha got floyd?
- jbinz214, on 05/07/2009, -1/+15Ricky deserves respect due for him. He's a great fighter with huge and loyal fan base (heard them roar at MGM Grand?). This fight does not make him a lesser man. Its just that his fighting style is so vulnerable for pacquiao.
Pacman is boxing's name. Same as MJ was on basketball a decade ago. - bixby1, on 05/07/2009, -1/+15I was really pulling for Hatton to win. He's a stand-up guy and I wish him the best in whatever he does.
- stickhandler, on 05/07/2009, -1/+14After that KO I'd be doing the same.
- tortfeasor2009, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13The next time I get my ass kicked, I want to get paid $12 million.
- w1n78, on 05/08/2009, -0/+8is there a transcript available? i lost a tooth trying to understand what he's saying.
best wishes whatever he does. Pacquiao FTW! guess hatton wasn't ready for pacquiao's "secret weeeepoon" - daxxer, on 05/07/2009, -1/+9Damn Shame ... Great Fighter.
- recruz, on 05/08/2009, -0/+7Pacquiao win commentary: "I just do my job, I box him, and I try to punch him very hard. Oh yea, and watch out for my brand new right hook that you've never seen before."
- Rhythmix, on 05/08/2009, -0/+6That loss must have been hard. Imagine training everyday for months to see yourself lose in 5 minutes.
- tmeaster, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5Agreed. Hatton had a good run. Now just let it go.
- enozten, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5hey buddy, i remember when you got ktfo'd
- Stavrosian, on 05/08/2009, -0/+5I've loved watching Ricky's career since way back before he even took that first WBU title, all those fans packing out the MEN Arena even then, but if he chose to retire now I could not blame him. That fight must have devastated him. To lose is one thing, but to get beaten up so badly, especially when you know that upwards of 25,000 fans have paid thousands to fly over to Vegas and cheer you on even in these harsh economic times, must make you question whether you can keep going. He's got the money, he's got the respect of everybody that matters, the only question is whether he can come to terms with those two defeats to two legendary fighters. If he can, then good luck to him in retirement. If not, good luck to him in the ring, and I hope he doesn't have to take too many more shots like he took from Manny.
- Thoku, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4Looks like hes happy being the 3rd best at the time.
- GoldenBoy1993, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4He has lost 2 times to mayweather and pacquiao( the 2 best fighters in the world at the time he lost). Hes capable of beating others at 140 he shouldnt retire.
- nathanbutnet, on 05/08/2009, -0/+4Probably a good move. I hate to say it, but he has wasted his prime years of boxing by surrounding himself with jerkoffs not unlike, say, Mayweather Sr.
Should Ricky have had Roach in his corner would he have been as good as PacMan? No, but he would have made it to the 5th round against him at least. - Stavrosian, on 05/08/2009, -1/+5Looks like the 25,000 Hatton fans who flew to Vegas care.
Why does it have to be one or the other? They are different sports, why not like both, neither, or just one and forget about the other? Should I start going into MMA discussions and talking about how way more people watch soccer than MMA, so it's all irrelevant? Do you think Boxing fans have a long and storied tradition of entering Judo forums and telling them they all suck because more people care about boxing?
Honestly, every time an MMA fan brings this crap up in a boxing discussion it just gives you a reputation your sport doesn't need. - EricDraven, on 05/08/2009, -0/+3Coming from a Filipino, I actually am a fan of Hatton. Was even rooting for him against Mayweather. Ricky definitely has balls, not ducking both Floyd AND Manny. You could tell Manny genuinely liked Ricky because they're both everyday men, just regular guys outside the ring.
- thenativeraver, on 05/08/2009, -0/+3I bet his head is still sore.
- Chirp08, on 05/08/2009, -0/+2He got 8 million dollars for 2 rounds, I'm sure he can feed his family for a little while.
- StueyPidass, on 05/08/2009, -0/+2Athletes especially in indivual sports, strive to be the best not 3rd best. If they know they will not be on top, its very discouraging to continue to persue
- RatatRatR, on 05/08/2009, -1/+3But it's sad to see a guy go on just for the sake of fighting a bunch of journeymen.
- nathanbutnet, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1Yes indeed. I mean his head really attacked PacMan's fists with a vengeance.
- EricDraven, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1It's just that some of these boxers know nothing else but to fight. They feed their families from what they earn. To ask them to stop is like telling them to let their loved ones starve. Sad but there's a lot of these stories in the Philippines, even. I'm not saying he shouldn't retire, but I'm also afraid for him and his health 'cause he's actually one of my favorite fighters. He has/had a good record and there's really no shame if he goes out now.
And with that said, good job Manny :) - fanofbox, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1he should fight junior witter as a retirement fight.
- bakatrinh, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1Man, if I was getting paid $6-8 million for a fight even if I lose, I wouldn't be dodging challenges either.
- bxt3r, on 05/08/2009, -3/+0Totally!
- fsufanizzle, on 05/08/2009, -13/+2MMA > Boxing, nobody cares anymore....
