I don't care about winning percentege, when you stablish a first ever No-win season, you need to be in this list - trapper2530, on 05/17/2009, -1/+19i like how you answer your own question
- navidb, on 05/17/2009, -0/+14I just clicked on all the ads, shat on my computer, and threw it against the wall. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED FORBES? GOD DDAMMMMMMNITTTTTT
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+14Nice... three in the top ten. Go Tampa!
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -2/+12Where are the New York Knicks?
Since 2001, the Knicks have lost over 650 games, and recorded only a 0.381 winning percentage. Not to mention that they are completely overpaying their players. The New York Knicks, once a proud organization full of complete players and a great staff, now consists of greedy players, who care more about their next paycheck rather than winning basketball games. I know this list consists of the most losing teams of all time, but the Knicks should at least have an honorable mention. - K4Lic0, on 05/17/2009, -0/+10The Charlotte Bobcats were formed in 2004 and the Houston Texans were formed in 2002. Shouldn't there be a 10-year cap on this list or something? Of course any team formed in recent sports history is going to have a few seasons that bring their average WAY down.
- brownsound00, on 05/17/2009, -0/+9Worst thing is that the Lightening actually won the cup.
- tenio, on 05/17/2009, -1/+10Columbus Blue Jackets have only been around since 2001...and they did make it to the playoffs this year
- TexasShiv, on 05/17/2009, -0/+8Holy GOD that was terribly written in those excerpts..
- edlowe0, on 05/17/2009, -0/+7i love lamp
- heytomkat, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7This is so obviously done by a company that is not associated with sports because they evaluate success with a winning percentage, when everyone knows its about winning one game: the championship. As a Cleveland Browns fan I am slightly offended at the idea that the Buccaneers are a worse franchise than the Brown, when the new browns have yet to win a playoff game, whereas the Bucs have, etc etc. This is sports commentary at its worst.
- aclashingcolour, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7I think my fighting Phillies should be on the list after breaking the 10,000 losses mark.
- sleeknerve, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5I really hate these stupid Forbes Slideshows. Instead of trying to scrape out every last bit of advertising revenue, they could make this list soo much better.
- postal21, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5Wait where are my bengals? (sorry I think im following a trend where every poster is going to list a team they think should be on the list)
- OasisR123, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4I honestly think the Rays (being in WS in a few years existence) and the Bucs (won the SB) shouldn't be there, because they've accomplished something not many teams have.
- al1encas1no, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3Read on for more sports coverage, including baseball's most intense rivalries and the 10 best golfers never to win a major.
- mostie, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3It's true that my Clipps are only number 4, but I feel like we still deserve #1 because we've been around so long.
- halvertos, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4I'd say a team that hasn't won a championship in over 100 years should be on that list... the Chicago Cubs.
- chompapotamus, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3i liked how he commented
- Pronoiac, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3Yeah but Cleveland teams are at least good at some point. I'm from Cleveland too so I understand the heartbreak but you have to be a good team to begin with to have the heartbreak. These teams are just garbage every year and no one expects anything else.
- ceredron, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Most-losing really doesn't say much. As another Cleveland fan, perhaps they should be looking for "sports' most heartbreaking, disappointing, life-ruining teams", and Cleveland would be all over that list. I mean, just an example: The browns were toted at the beginning of last season to be second in their division, possibly with 10 to 11 wins. What happened? A 4-12 season. BEHIND Cincinnati. Yep. That happens every year, in every sport (current Cavs team notwithstanding, although they got SWEPT in the finals a couple years back, they look pretty damn good this year, obviously). Also, the Indians are last in the league this year, after being a favorite pick to win it all. Cool beans.
- gkiltz, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2The Lions ore one of the original franchises in the NFL. If you go back far enough, there was quality there once. In fact I've even heard unconfirmed reports that Bobby Lane could actually PLAY QUARTERBACK at the NFL Level!
- WillisDickfit, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Dugg for my miserably humid, often bizarre, adopted hometown of Tampa, FL. Go Bucs, Bulls, Bolts, and Rays!
- Bones97698, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2drunken angry cub fan rage FTW
- Th3Wh1teRabb1t, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2They stole that one from the Flames don't remind me :(
- strykefive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Where are the Leafs?
- ell0bo, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2it's more the fact we've been around so long and baseball has so many games in a season. We've been around for 125 (or so) years, and we play 162 games per year.
If we assume on average they played 120 games a season those 125 years... that's 15000 games. So... *****. My math be off cause I have no idea how they hell we're not on there. We have to be no better then 30%, so maybe it's 140 games? 42%?
How the hell aren't we on there? - Akraz, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1as much as the leafs have sucked the past 5-6 years, they have won 13 stanley cups and have had many many great seasons...for them being around since the early 1920s you cant really put them on the list. But i do feel you :\ They do usually finish their seasons with more wins than losses. If you average them all out together, they are pretty high.
- jessemoya, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1Nice. Just one question: who are the Chefs?
- bsoupbone, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Though they are an old franchise, the Pittsburgh Pirates haven't had a winning season since 1992...surprised not to see them here.
- WillisDickfit, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Not if you are a Lightning fan. =)
It's cool though, we've gone back to being terrible. - reddevild, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1yeah, but they kicked ass in the 70's and early 80's sucks for me being born in '89 :(
- cobrapeed, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1Not to plug my own submitted article, but here's the list of the top 10 Most Miserable Sports Cities in 2009. The aggregate sum of the "professional" sports teams' performances really highlights the misery unfortunate sports fans are subjected to. Unfortunately, my hometown (Minneapolis) made this list and clocked in at #9 :(.

P.S. I listed the 10 in the description for those not willing to deal with Forbes.com's blatant, ad whoremongering. - Spinducky08, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Seattle Mariners?????
- coltrane68, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1The metric used is obviously off. Sure, the Clippers, Texans, and Bobcats are awful, but the Devil Rays, Lightning, Bucs, Falcons, and Padres have all won or lost the national championship in the last decade (or a tad more in the case of the Padres). On the other hand, the Lions, Browns, et al, consistently miss or fail early in the playoffs. I would rather cheer for a team that occasionally challenges for the title with years of disappointment in between (the Phillies and Mets for example) than a team like the Browns or Texas Rangers, which never gives their fans anything to aspire to.
- strafefire, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1How on earth did the Detroit Lions not make that list?
Seriously, we not only know how to lose, we do that ***** in style!!! - beachsouthpaw, on 05/17/2009, -0/+0I was wondering where the Leafs were as well. Alot of these teams have a lack of payroll and pretty ***** fanbases, which makes their situation at least understandable. And still some of them (Bolts, Rays, Bucs) have managed to win/make it to a championship in recent history.
Bieng the most valuable franchise in your league and not coming anywhere close to a championship in more than 40 years?? That's a real commitment to losing. - inactive, on 05/18/2009, -1/+1Where are the Chicago Cubs? Shouldn't they lead the list for haven't winning a pennant in TWO PASSES of Halley's Comet?
- gkiltz, on 05/17/2009, -0/+0The Bengals were actually decent at one time in the 1980s!
Even got to the Super Bowl and lost! - chamorro, on 05/18/2009, -0/+0Honorable mention:
Washington Generals
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Generals - Lonandubh, on 05/17/2009, -1/+1But seriously, an honorable mention at least. And for UW this year...
- EAMUS1CATULI, on 05/17/2009, -3/+2The article is about overall winning percentage...not how many years with out a championship....*****!!!!! And i knew there would be one ***** who would say something about the CUBS.
- flaminglips, on 05/17/2009, -3/+2You could have clicked "Read Full Story," but thanks anyways.
- gkiltz, on 05/17/2009, -1/+0If there is not some newer, somewhat cluefull ownership pretty soon, all of the Washington, DC teams except the Capitals will eventually make this list!
The Capitals have changed owners since their worst days!! - inactive, on 05/17/2009, -13/+7I like how your comment has absolutely no value at all.
