- nik707, on 06/16/2009, -1/+136But what if this sponsorship is a gateway sponsorship that leads him to taking bigger sponsors.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 06/16/2009, -7/+80It's astounding that's it's taken this long for a company to step up and do what's not only smart but right.
- RandomEyes, on 06/16/2009, -3/+72Nothing like getting high and being able to listen to music while underwater.
- SamusAu, on 06/16/2009, -3/+51It should have been Cheetos.
- broncfan23, on 06/17/2009, -1/+29why isn't anyone thinking of the children!?!?!?!
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -3/+29People who use marijuana do not succeed in life.
http://www.veryimportantpotheads.com/ - genericross, on 06/16/2009, -2/+25very true. although Omega should get credit for standing behind him so vehemently.
- badwithcomputer, on 06/16/2009, -2/+22this way you can hear afroman while your friends pour bongwater on your head

- Simonetta, on 06/17/2009, -2/+17Anti-Cannabis bigotry is at the same stage that sexual minority bigotry (anti-gay homophobia) was in the late 1960s. No one wants to be the first corporation to publicly transcend it, even though everyone knows that anti-cannabis mentality (like all bigotry) is all nonsense. Everyone is just dancing around the subject and operating on auto-pilot, enforcing the old anti-pot codes and hysterical urine tests, to their private embarassment. It makes it all very difficult for the cannabis users who get outed in this transition period. In twenty years, it will all seem so passé and stupid.
But then again, that is what people were saying twenty years ago before the troglodyte Reagan-Bush era. An era that now should be ending since the last three presidents all openly admitting (more or less) to enjoy smoking weed. - BassMastr, on 06/17/2009, -1/+1415 minutes? He's going in all the records and will probably go down as the one of the greatest swimmers of all time. He's not going anywhere. You'll be able to see him in the next Olympics too.
- nullx42, on 06/17/2009, -2/+13Sarah Palin isn't important
- Import98, on 06/16/2009, -3/+14It was stupid for him to lose his sponsors anyway. If I had a company that had anything to do with swimming or water sports in general I would of picked him up on the cheap like a month after all other sponsors dropped him. Who gives a ***** if he smokes herb on his own time.
- solid12345, on 06/17/2009, -2/+12You can tell someone high designed this page
- d3dm, on 06/17/2009, -2/+12Funyuns!
- PontdePierre, on 06/17/2009, -2/+12Who the ***** is Sarah Palin?
- cleveruser, on 06/16/2009, -1/+10In business/advertising the only thing that determines whats smart and right, is will it help you sell the product. No company wanted Phelps name attached to them, lest conservative America frown upon their product.
- ClevelandBrown, on 06/17/2009, -2/+10A big ***** you to any and all sponsors that dropped Phelps after the bong photo came out.
- Frankyfan3, on 06/17/2009, -0/+8apparently the company also sells accessory cases which you can use with your ipod to make it waterproof.
- Coinspinner, on 06/17/2009, -0/+7Best two posts I've seen in 6 months.
- CanadianSixPack, on 06/17/2009, -0/+6Some nice hydrophonics.
- angelgabe, on 06/16/2009, -3/+9I assume in the commercials the headphones will be bumpin' some Bob Marley.
- mizike, on 06/17/2009, -1/+6Since when has it been smart or right to throw a sponsorship deal at someone who's at about 14:30 of his 15 minutes of fame? Signing him to a fat deal in March 2012, that would be a smart move, American's only give a ***** about swimming every four years and then only if an American citizen happens to be among the best.
- kconnors, on 06/17/2009, -3/+8still to this day I refuse to purchae any Kellogs products. Good for Mike finally getting another sponsor. F U Kellogs.
- tmyprod, on 06/16/2009, -6/+11I can't believe it took a company this long to jump on a sponsorship after the "bong" incident. Especially companies looking for that "edgy" or "cool" feel.
- CoD4, on 06/17/2009, -1/+6my eyes!
- frontaxle, on 06/17/2009, -2/+7Haydn, the Canadian just beat him.
Gotta get back in the pool Mike! - Frankyfan3, on 06/17/2009, -1/+6Well... at least I discovered that Fiber One's Toaster Pastries are superior in nutrition and *surprisingly* flavor to Kellogg's Pop Tarts.
Probably never would have tried them if I hadn't made the decision to take my dollar elsewhere after their hypocrisy.
PS: For those that don't know... it's not simply that Kellogg's acquiesced to Reefer Madness, but that they decided Phelps DWI (driving under the influence of alcohol, something which kills people every day) was not an offense to fire him over, but getting his picture taken smoking a plant that "causes white women to go to bed with negroes and jazz musicians" in the privacy of someone's home was unacceptable. - Wakkyweed, on 06/17/2009, -7/+11I can just imagine the ad.
H2O sports headphones: waterproof, bong-waterproof, alcohol-proof, vomit-proof and urine-proof. Endorsed by Michael Phelps! - inactive, on 06/17/2009, -0/+4Since Mark Spitz.
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -1/+5The fact that it "took this long" has nothing to do with the scandal. He was clearly oversaturated right after the Olympics. As a swimmer, his value is really only right before and right after the Olympics anyway. And it is likely his asking price for endorsements was way too high for 2009 standards.
Geez...put SOME thhought into your bitchfests every once in awhile. Otherwise you look like a fool. Lke this time.
Why did no one want him? In order:
1. His appeal is time dependent and his main time was ENDING or another 3 years.
2. He was so oversaturated that people were starting to hate him.
3. We are in the middle of a major recession that is causing many celebrities to lose endorsement deals.
4. insert several other reasons here.
9. His marijuana incident. - mrfizzle, on 06/17/2009, -1/+5I have discredited everything you said for calling them "wrappers"
- ilikeeggs8877, on 06/17/2009, -4/+7@d4nie1
...yes...you're exactly right... - Spandia, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3 I thought about this, but my iPod is not waterproof, so what am I going to do with these headphones?
- Coinspinner, on 06/17/2009, -2/+5Oh for sure! Useless reactionary company if ever there was one.
- CoD4, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4You'd think their marketing people read social media
- ShingoEX, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4"Since when does swimming make you famous."
Since you win Olympic medals for it... - inactive, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4I'm gonna go buy some of their *****, now.
- AZExile, on 06/17/2009, -2/+5taco bell late night tacos.
- Swarms, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4He beat him in the coveted "Not-The-Olympics Meet". No one cares.
- BassMastr, on 06/17/2009, -3/+6History's greatest swimmer...
- s0krat3z, on 06/17/2009, -2/+5Look at me! I smoked a bong! I'm on the edge and I'm freakin' cool!
- cl2yp71c, on 06/17/2009, -2/+5Frito Lay, jump on that bandwagon, legalization is near.

- wpc33, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3Hey, petersonica, take a hit off this *****.
- mrfizzle, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3Now you know that's going to make everyone want to look at it
- wpc33, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3The way he swims, I almost wanna toke up, myself. Have you seen the videos? Nothing should be dismissed as coincidence!
brb - mrfizzle, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2This is a perfect product for him to be sponsoring
- CoD4, on 06/17/2009, -2/+4They should pay you for this tagline
