- gofalcons, on 12/07/2008, -0/+31De la Hoya is done! It's time to step away gracefully and keep your legacy in tact man.
- inactive, on 12/07/2008, -0/+29Manny and Mayweather Jr.?

- FullMetalNIN, on 12/07/2008, -0/+21"I believe our mission in this world is not only to make money, but we have a big responsibility," said Pacquiao, who has won world championships in four weight classes and is moving up in weight (to 147 pounds) to fight De La Hoya. "If you get the blessing from God, we are to give some to our people, and especially the poor people."
Pacquiao is awesome. He gives a significant amount of his money away after every fight. Apparently there is a huge crowd congregating around his house right now. His trainer thinks that he's going to give all his money away. - inactive, on 12/07/2008, -0/+21"It isn’t about Filipino vs. Mexicans. It just happened that during my time, there were a lot of (great) Mexican fighters. It’s not my intention to fight all the Mexican fighters. I love Mexicans.” Manny "Packman" Pacquiao
- branndon, on 12/07/2008, -0/+20Not what I expected! Manny really surprised me. I knew he was good, but he was better than I thought.
- hotjava23, on 12/07/2008, -0/+14Mabuhay Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao!!! You bring so much pride to the Philippines and I'm honored to be his fellow countryman.
- freebird09, on 12/07/2008, -1/+15What do you expect from the "Mexicutioner?"
(I didn't come up with it) - DreamVsPs2, on 12/07/2008, -0/+14that was the most embarrassing fight i've ever seen.
- ansatsu29, on 12/07/2008, -0/+13Actually, people doesnt want him to get stained by the public politics in the Philippines. They utterly hate the politicians trying to surround him - somewhat leeching him of his money.
Correction: Pacquiao can read. So happens that he didnt finish highschool because of the dire times he has experienced - his father abandoned their family and Manny stood up to earn a living for his family, eventually landing him into boxing. And he is actually trying to finish his studies and is now taking a course at Notre Dame College in his town. He's even a military reservist with the rank of sergeant. - AddiX, on 12/07/2008, -0/+13For a guy that small to win the way he did against a much bigger fighter is awesome. Manny was bouncing around all over the place and didnt look the least bit tired. Pacman is a Phenom. He has now beaten 4 Mexican Hall of Fame Fighters. Also, props to Freddy Roach, he laid down a perfect game plan for Pacman to beat Hoya.
- dikaiosyne, on 12/07/2008, -0/+12Pacquiao - Sugar Ray Leonard
Golden Boy - Roberto Duran
"In round 8, Durán turned around, walked to his corner and gave up, supposedly saying the now famous words, "no más" (no more)." - CTK14A, on 12/07/2008, -0/+12http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/6592/delahoyazh ...
- 2ToneKevin, on 12/07/2008, -2/+13MANNY MANNY MANNY MANNY!
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -2/+12No. That wouldn't draw nearly enough attention. More like Manny vs Hatton. Now there's an interesting fight.
- inactive, on 12/07/2008, -0/+8Manny Pacquiao will be the Fighter of the Year for 2008. He just clenched it again, as he did in 2006.
- pacificislandr4, on 12/07/2008, -1/+9Mabuhay Manny Pacquiao!
- deeauds, on 12/07/2008, -1/+9mabuhay ang Pambansang Kamao!
- KennedyFinsin, on 12/07/2008, -1/+8Pac-man is my favorite welter, light, and feather fighter.
I was not expecting anything else from him with this so called "dream match."
De La Hoya has been a bum since 98. - paraforce, on 12/07/2008, -1/+8you slaughtered that chief
- ansatsu29, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7Filipino here too - and we know his story very well. Manny is such a hardworking fighter. He trains damn hard and tries to be better than the other guy. And now, he stands with the other Filipino boxing legends such as Gabriel "Flash" Elorde and Pancho Villa.
- ryrocker, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7oscar didnt even leave a scratch on this guy...
- thenativeraver, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7I knew Pacquio would beat his ass. You can't ***** with the pac-man.
- ansatsu29, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7Manny is now indeed (more) famous. He's all over Digg! Great fight for that guy!
- hotjava23, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7Heart and determination beats size any day.
- fuzed, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7This wasn't even really a fight. How anyone could think that De La Hoya had a chance at winning this fight is beyond me. He looked SLOW. Actually he said it best in the post fight interview, "His heart wants to fight, but his body just can't keep up." Oscar had his time, and he'll be remembered in boxing history for it. Now its time to move on and let others take the reigns - and Manny looks like he could fill those shoes.
- ryrocker, on 12/07/2008, -1/+7oh wow...
i had no idea
=] - tdmoney, on 12/07/2008, -0/+6De La Hoya is finished. This fight was an embarrassment for him. He was absolutely dominated for 8 rounds.
No doubt Mayweather will come back for a fight with Pac, perhaps after Pac Man murders Hatton. - SDM187, on 12/07/2008, -0/+6yeah... so since when is Hatton a top fighter? He's beaten who exactly? Kosztyu... BFD. I dont get how anyone thinks Hatton would last 6 rounds with Manny... were we watching a different fight last night? when has hatton done that to anyone who's even remotely a big name. malignaggi? ooooo
PBF vs Manny is THE big fight and any fan of boxing knows it's been the big fight on the horizon for about 3 years.
this might come off as hostile, but i'm just pissed that i didnt bet Pac Man last night. when first hearing that fight announced i was like, pffft, pac will be what, a 2-1 favorite? could not understand why DLH would be a fav. - adamroach, on 12/07/2008, -0/+5Damn spoilers.
- fakeguy, on 12/07/2008, -1/+6Is it me or would anyone else rather have it stopped or get knocked out than just giving up in your seat?
- dalittle, on 12/07/2008, -1/+5only if you want to watch Mayweather run the whole time. I cannot think of a more boring fight.
- SgtAl, on 12/07/2008, -1/+5The time to step away gracefully was when he retired the first time. Now no matter what else he does he quit on his stool between rounds. He should have stayed retired.
- rowlodge, on 12/07/2008, -0/+4well if it was for enough money ,still ...
- nephilim08, on 12/07/2008, -1/+5it's like watching that pac guy go to toe-to-toe against a walking sandbag with a speedbag for a head.
- dalittle, on 12/07/2008, -0/+4Not getting hit is intelligent boxing. Running is not boxing and is very boring to watch.
- Qupal, on 12/07/2008, -2/+6I haven't seen a lopsided fight like this since Mayweather vs. Gatti. Manny eats mexicans for breakfast. as much as i wanted Manny to win it was sad to see a great fighter like Oscar to loose the way he did.
- IpwnZnoobs, on 12/07/2008, -0/+3Are you kidding?
- nyr633, on 12/07/2008, -1/+4you obviously don't follow the sport...
- nyr633, on 12/07/2008, -1/+4Exactly! Though if Mayweather did come back, both men would be itching to get at him. Manny would want to proove wrong all those saying he isn't poun 4 pound because he didn't fight Mayweather and Hatton because paybacks a dirty SOB!
- ansatsu29, on 12/07/2008, -1/+4Whenever he trains, he always wanted to be the better fighter than the other guy, so he trains damn hard - he really push himself to the limits. That is Manny's attitude when it comes to his fights - and he always end up the better one.
- teodz, on 12/08/2008, -0/+3Filipino here as well. Yesterday, there were literally no jeepneys, pedicabs and tricycles here in our place -- all are glued to our TV Sets. Watched the bout on the Gymnasium nearby, place looks like the fight is really in front of us. Philippine Flag was waived after the TKO announcement. Parang nasa harap namin si Manny at Oscar! lol
- EricDraven, on 12/08/2008, -0/+3Blinding speed doesn't hurt either.
- nyr633, on 12/07/2008, -0/+3lets not forget Manny has been knocked out twice and Hatton's only loss came off a badly reffed match against Mayweather. I'd like to see what Hatton could do with a second crack at Mayweather even if you don't.
- EricDraven, on 12/08/2008, -1/+4Yep, ryrocker. He actually ran for governor but lost. I also detest the thought of him trying to get into politics, but it's not like people can keep him from doing what he wants. That said, people should keep their intentions for him clean, as he is a well-intentioned man himself.
- KnivesForRobots, on 12/07/2008, -2/+4sit back and envision....
http://www.ispeech.org/documents.php?mid=35ce6e0bb ... - EricDraven, on 12/08/2008, -0/+2Trying to win by not getting hit is not everything you need to win. You need to enforce your will on the other fighter and beat him up. Manny did with ODLH, Mayweather Jr. didn't.
That said, styles make fights. I think Manny will be a bad fit for Mayweather's style. Admit it guys, Floyd doesn't want to get hit, so he runs. Hatton? Now THAT is a REAL fight. - nyr633, on 12/07/2008, -4/+6though i swore vehemently that de la hoya would win, in my heart I wanted the pacman to win. Another great fight from the little guy. Next stop Ricky Hatton of England and if the offer is enticing enough, Mayweather may come back for a crack at Manny. Of course that would also pave the way for a rematch between Hatton and Mayweather...For all those doubters about Mayweather coming back, answer me this: How many days can you walk around with 10gs in your pocket before you run out? Money always keeps them coming back!
- EricDraven, on 12/08/2008, -0/+2Dela Hoya weighed in at 145lb, Pacquiao at 142. Unofficial HBO weights at fight time were 147 Dela Hoya, 148.5 Pacquiao.
