- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -5/+40blargh...argh...yargh...yehh...ugh...ahhh!!
- ElectroStep, on 09/05/2008, -2/+34Broken leg =/= unharmed
- ScottMcIntyre, on 09/05/2008, -11/+38This is an amazing video clip- the videocam on his crash helmet lets us relive the terror he must have felt the moment the parachute failed. Very luckily, he landed unharmed in a tree.
- DiggItalia, on 09/05/2008, -1/+25Nature loves you, there's always a tree when you need one.
- stanleyford, on 09/05/2008, -2/+24Hello up there! I seem to have fallen down a cliff. I'm still alive, but I'm very badly injured. I think my legs are broken. I'll try to stand. Yes, they are broken. Perhaps you could toss me a band-aid or some antibacterial cream. I'm in an extraordinarily large amount of pain.
- akrondude, on 09/05/2008, -4/+25i can tell you've never had a broken leg.
- V1ncent, on 09/05/2008, -3/+20All you base jumps are belong to us
- dagnabbit, on 09/05/2008, -1/+18I did a regular tandem skydive when I was 18, and the chute came out kinda twisted up so we were going backwards at first, then flipped around and got it right before we landed. The way the instructor was cursing and pulling ropes man, it was the scariest moment of my life.
I'd still do it again though. - bicyclethief, on 09/05/2008, -4/+17"WHOA sucks."
- leerayIG88, on 09/05/2008, -0/+12He was very fortunate. If he was mistaken as a flying kite a tree would have eaten him.
- azhura, on 09/05/2008, -0/+11Reason why we should plant more trees!
- aflaks, on 09/05/2008, -1/+12after watching a ton of these videos in a somewhat (ok, very) altered state, i can no longer even begin to view them. I had a friend who told me all about his parachute adventure when he got tangled in the wires and cut away just in time to deploy the backup shoot. He told me about the intense fear you feel and how the desire to come to terms with life and just plummet to your death overwhelms your senses and oftentimes causes a man to just give up. I dont think I can stomach these videos anymore, I just dont find enjoyment in a person's final moments anymore, sorry internet, you have re-sensitized me.
- Lutfesk, on 09/05/2008, -1/+11The English translation was a bit off - here's the only news-article from the event I could find translated thanks to translate.google.com. (Not that successful!)
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F ... - blackinthmiddle, on 09/05/2008, -1/+11Well, I wouldn't call breaking your leg being unharmed. But yes, he's a lucky bastard, all things considered.
- Laminarcissus, on 09/05/2008, -1/+10That looks like it must be awesome to do when it goes right.
As a side note, does he have to pay for the air ambulance to pull him out of trees? Or can you do anything you want and still have it be courtesy of taxpayers or an insurance company? - rollerboy, on 09/05/2008, -5/+13"Complete control"? that was some good control crashing into the side of a mountain.
- phimu227, on 09/05/2008, -1/+9youtube link if break is blocked @ work like it is for me...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuJiDvQpDWU - mnemy, on 09/05/2008, -3/+11The casualties? A broken leg and a thoroughly ruined pair of pants. I would assume at least.
- thescimitar, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8Ironeus -> Irone -> Irony.
That was complex, hope that helps. - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8!=
- webresources, on 09/05/2008, -3/+10***** happens :)
- RadiatedAnt, on 09/05/2008, -3/+10Instructor: Holy mother of ***** it's over!!1 nooo I don't want to die noww *sobs* *pulls ropes frantically*
Dagnabbit: Oh my God are we going to die mann?!
Instructor: We're ***** alive!! *ends in hysterical laugh* - oleeid, on 09/05/2008, -0/+6Defeat nature and survive a fall from 1000m is NOT a fail....
- LordRedSnake, on 09/05/2008, -0/+6Probably doesn't have to pay anything in Norway, but try that in the US and you better believe you'll pay. Hell, I had to pay 900 bucks for an ambulance ride after a surfing accident, and I know someone who needed to be airlifted with a helicopter and ended up paying thousands.
- thescimitar, on 09/05/2008, -1/+7"at least he can still walk away with a broken leg." -ironeus
Apparently diggers can't fathom irone. - consoneo, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Break just plain sucks, thanks for finding that :)
- ironeus, on 09/05/2008, -8/+13at least he can still walk away with a broken leg.
- DiggItalia, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5You can basically do anything you want, curtesy of the taxpayers/insurance company. Which part puzzles you?
- hoowahman, on 09/05/2008, -1/+6Man your dialog is cracking me up...that never happens.
- covenent, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5He wouldn't have to pay a krone (norwegian currency) to get picked up by the ambulance. Norwegian oil money ftw :)
- shotgunefx, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5I have a friend who had a tangle like that on her first jump, luckily they got it straightened out before they landed but they wouldn't let her have the tape without editing that part out.
Didn't put her off a bit, she went right back with the same people. - microview2007, on 09/05/2008, -2/+7He never mentions how much human excrement was expelled in his pants.
- DaviDTC, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26545187/
- loquax, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4Ganske idiotisk! Jumping off a perfectly good Norwegian mountain for no good reason ;)
Actually, I am glad he is ok, even if his underwear is soiled. - RG13, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4I like Lutfesk's better
caption from his article: "Here is basehopper Hans Lange his own shadow before he smeller into the fjellveggen." - hoowahman, on 09/05/2008, -1/+5I did a tandem with some students that were jumping by themselves and they were suppose to go in another part of the field when landing. This one student hit our chute with her legs about 150 ft in the air and our chute collapsed. Everything happened so fast that the instructor was able to swoop down and right before we hit the ground opened it back up somehow and we skidded on our asses. Unfortunately the student fell hard and on their back but didn't die. Freaked me the hell out and I'm not doing it again.
- dagnabbit, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4More or less, although the everything was happening so fast you don't have time to start crying.
- jbarket, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I don't know if I'd call a cliff strike unharmed, but still amazing footage.
I'm not a big fan of BASE carnage videos, but cliff strikes and people's reaction and struggle to get free always amazes me... especially when in the midst of ***** like this, they manage to push away and get out of their line twists. - NailerNforce, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3The translation is horrid. He says something plain like : "I have never concidered this as my last jump" and they translate it with "The feeling of wind through my hair..." etc. etc etc.
- Braxford, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3Because THAT's what is important here...
- raisputin3, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I lol'd
- thetanman, on 09/05/2008, -3/+6And that's why I don't basejump.
- Radan, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3You do know that if you Norwegians are feeling lonely, you can always come and hang with us Swedes again, like the good old times. Don't worry, we got beer, just bring the oil and we'll be fine.
- graemee, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3May Darwin bless you too. raisputin3
Of course rasputin has a tough SOB. - raisputin3, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3pussy ;)
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I believe I can fly............. wooooooooooooooo!!!

- Stavrosian, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3You should try socialized medicine. Sweet, sweet socialized medicine.
- ironeus, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4I'm being quoted on Digg, and what's w/ the breakdown of my username? I wasn't aware Webster had to define it first.
