- yourmartdotnet, on 12/27/2008, -6/+31He got shot by his mom's boyfriend. I don't think that's a lifestyle issue.
- j0hn, on 12/28/2008, -2/+20Nascar is the most overrated sport. Get real.
- roastedbagel, on 12/27/2008, -5/+18Dammit. RIP Justin
- HerrWolf, on 12/28/2008, -6/+18Considering violence in MMA doesn't involve gangs, drive-by shootings, stabbings and drugs, it _does_ surprise me.
- AmnesiacJack, on 12/28/2008, -4/+15I wonder if it has any thing to do with being so bad ass that instead of fight you people feel safer shooting you.
- spunkinator, on 12/28/2008, -1/+10Nampa is like the Compton of Idaho. I live in Boise and I only go out there to buy meth and perform drive-by shootings.
- TrevorBelmont, on 12/28/2008, -2/+9You know that saying ***** like that is racist, right?
- TrevorBelmont, on 12/28/2008, -2/+9There were three notable MMA deaths this year. One accident (or misadventure), one suicide and one murder.
If you see a common thread there, I'd love to hear it. - eddantes7, on 12/28/2008, -4/+10Maybe they were referring to the white trash lifestyle?
- ConceptsX, on 12/28/2008, -1/+6Don't pay attention to cantaclaro, hes just a Mexican!
- kagebutsu, on 12/28/2008, -2/+6Wow you heartless bastards are really going to digg this down?
- DaviDTC, on 12/28/2008, -0/+4They are all dead. I win. Sorry, that was bad.
- newsfully, on 12/28/2008, -1/+5Do we always have to have comments like these when a MMA story makes the FP. obviously many people enjoy the sport. Justin Eilers wasn't the greatest fighter, but it is very sad to see someone taken away from the sport like that.
- Ac1dburn, on 12/27/2008, -5/+8That's terrible. MMA fighter have had a string of bad luck lately
- Teknikscian, on 12/28/2008, -7/+10youre an idiot
- sat0shi, on 12/28/2008, -1/+4Nanpa, pronounced like Nampa sort-of, is the Japanese word for "picking up random chicks for a date and/or sex". The more you know.
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -1/+4"Except in Brazil"
What.The. *****? Do you even know what you're talking about? - Zetex, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3Nampa is Idaho's armpit.
- Jerk, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3It was family that killed him. His step-dad is sitting in jail right now.
- pitchblackjava, on 12/28/2008, -1/+4No. People only live in the larger cities.
- Heywoodj, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3More info in the local rag.
http://www.idahopress.com/news/?id=18024 - lunachique, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2My grandma lives in Nampa. I visited her once. There is nooothing there.
- Bologner, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Apparently you don't ***** with Idaho.
- Mujokan, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Of course MMA would be very useful in your average brawl, but I think the striking component would be your top priority there. I wonder how many people who take it up for self-defense (or "self-defense") focus on the ground game because it's so important in professional competition. You don't want to go to the ground in any situation with more than one opponent, and you generally don't want to be rolling around that close to someone who may have a knife in any case.
- Heywoodj, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2@spunk You can't find meth in Garden city? Your wasting gas bro.
- farfromhere, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2And you did say it.
- ngmcs8203, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Mainstream articles? Maybe, but I'd say an episode of Law and Order will cover it first.
- Heywoodj, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2If by random you mean unmedicated bipolar fat chicks you are correct.
I had no idea the 2C was this well represented on digg. - Heywoodj, on 12/28/2008, -1/+3@j1ggy A Canadian makes that wise crack? I see your kettle and raise you a pot.
- etherreal, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2I ***** you not, this was like two miles from my house.
- solidcube, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Iglooburner, I'll take your no-name NHB fighter and I'll turn him into a pile of profusely bleeding sashimi in a few seconds. That's streetfighting, not this testosterone festival people call cage fighting. Any kind of arranged contest like that is, by definition, NHB.
On the street it's the real deal. - whiteninja, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Was he lost dead?
- solidcube, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Yes, that's exactly it. There's also a component of false pride that goes along with it.
MMA has about as much in common with real streetfighting as WWF wrestling does. - inactive, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Buried for racism.
- Mujokan, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Nanpa means something like "soft faction" as opposed to kouha which means "hard faction". The hard faction is the old-school Japanese masculine reserve where you never show interest in women and keep your dignity. Nanpa is the more modern attitude of showing you are interested and trying to pick them up. That's where it comes from, anyway, though sat0shi's definition is totally correct as the word is normally used.
If you want to try it, go up to a girl and say "hei, soko no kanojo, ore to ocha nomanai?" You will probably get a spectacularly negative reaction. - solidcube, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2It actually is a lifestyle issue. These guys have bought into the myth of their sportfighting. They think cage fighting makes them tough-- and it does, to some extent-- but it doesn't toughen up their livers and internal organs.
One of the high ranking Brazilian guys was stabbed to death in Sao Paolo by a street mugger not too long ago. - TrevorBelmont, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2*****! YOU GAVE ME A VIRUS!!!!
******DO NOT CLICK******* - inactive, on 12/27/2008, -18/+19It is bizarre. I suspect that there is a lifestyle attached that leads itself to such tragedies in the sport. I also suspect we will shortly see some mainstream articles about it.
- hymneforthedead, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1first evan tanner, now this? damnit. RIP BRO.
http://www.evantanner.net/ - MvP1292, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1it's easier just to say bury it..
- bpm2000, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1RIP - always liked watching him getting knocked out in spectacular fashion in the UFC.
- rheaume, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1everybody knows its about the fries and burrito coverins'
- Birdoftruth, on 12/28/2008, -3/+4considering you didn't read the article. I am going to consider and conclude that you're an idiot.
- BradArmstrong1, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1i went to nampa once, saw a crack house, stayin in boise
- Mujokan, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1NASCAR is more like the test cricket of motor sport. The demographic is a bit different, though.
- etherreal, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1I quite like my life here.
- BradArmstrong1, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1NO :(
- Zetex, on 12/29/2008, -0/+1I can't stand 2C drivers. Everything about Canyon County sucks.
- ironsport, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1Having met Justin on a few occasions, it really was sad to see him go. He will be missed.
RIP - BaldGuy, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1I wonder if this ever happens to championship marksmen?
