- rentmitchum, on 03/25/2008, -0/+30I saw this lady on TV, she was born without arms, she was born with her hands attached to her shoulders, and that was sad. But then they said, Lola does not know the meaning of the word "can't", and that to me was actually kind of worse in a way, you know, not only does she not have arms but she doesn't understand simple contractions.

- bitterjack, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1I feel bad.. am I the only one who didn't believe this was real? like.. how do you get pinned by a guy with no legs.. its impossible to stop the twisting/torsion movement without legs to leverage your weight on.. the limbless guy, i give him credit because he must be strong.. but i just feel like this is .. impossible.
- ClassicComposer, on 03/25/2008, -0/+0Just look at the size of their torsos. The limbless guy actually has a huge weight advantage. If his opponent worked out and got that much muscle he would be put into a new division because his legs would also be much more muscular. It’s almost cheating... almost.
- spidoman, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1I remember back when I was in highschool we had one of the best 140lbs wrestlers in the nation, he went up against a mentally handicapped wrestler. It was an insanely mismatched fight, and the good wrestler basically picked up the other kid, laid him down gently and pinned him.
I mention this because it was much more impressive and awe inspiring than this video. A good wrestler can pin people, but I've never seen anything as impressive as gently pinning someone when they are trying to resist. There was no aggression at all as he picked him up and pinned him even with the other guy trying his best to fight back.

- rentmitchum, on 03/25/2008, -6/+4I won't call it out like other people do, as gay or whatever, but I do get an acute sense of embarrassment, maybe for our species, when watching wrestling.. I have the same reaction to wrestling as I do to when someone waves at someone else right through, you, and you wave because you think they're waving to you for some reason. Or some jacksauce with the bluetooth headset is talking to you, but not really, it just appears that way. God I hate that. That's sorta like watching wrestling for me..
- genki831, on 03/25/2008, -2/+1God I hate those things too. Maybe we should have a beer. Nah...there'd probably be some confusion about a gesture and we'd both be embarrassed.
- nogayskthx, on 03/25/2008, -6/+0if you wave to someone you don't know because he waved at you first, you're nothin but a cocksucking bitch.
- ThorsSon, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2Where I'm from, people wave and smile at one another... when someone does NOT return the gesture, it is they who look the fool.

- HiKevinRose, on 03/25/2008, -3/+6I was impressed and then I read the description under the video. I didn't even notice he only had one arm, and his other arm doesn't look too fully formed either... damn good job, bro.
- closedoor, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2i don't believe you can say he had one arm unless you add what is left of the two arms together
- closedoor, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2i don't believe you can say he had one arm unless you add what is left of the two arms together
- JigoroKano, on 03/25/2008, -3/+65Armless/Legless people often do well in wrestling. They are incredibly strong for their weight class and you can't possibly get lower than them. They also have incredible core strength.
- LBobRife, on 03/25/2008, -2/+15Not to mention you can't pin them by grabbing their legs. It's interesting that with wrestling it might actually be an advantage to have smaller limbs.
- jon30041, on 03/25/2008, -0/+29The fact they have no arms/legs means the other limbs can be more muscled, I'm guessing?
I feel bad about it... but when I was watching it, I couldn't help but think the kid looked like a small dog...- XBSHX, on 03/25/2008, -0/+4Yeah I was thinking that too.
- WarnerK, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3I think it's simply that if they don't have arms/legs, then they weigh a lot less. They could be built to be in a larger weight class, but since they cut weight by not having some limbs, they can qualify for the smaller weight class, which kind of gives them an "advantage," if you can call it that.
- Narcism, on 03/25/2008, -1/+12If, for example, both guys weighed 140, the limbless guy would definitely have a serious advantage in torso weight... yes, obvious cat is obvious.
- Contrast27, on 03/25/2008, -5/+19I'm sorry, but i'm just really not that impressed. Had the guy in blue practiced everyday against cripples as the cripple had practiced against normal people, the playing field would be level. Support him all you want, but the only thing he has as an advantage is the fact that he's up against people who have never wrestled anyone with his likeliness before.
- newbis, on 03/25/2008, -0/+10That may be true, but there is more of an advantage going to the legless wrestler.
How much do your legs weigh? 1/3 of your total body weight? So if he would normally weigh 150 pounds he's now knocked down to 100. That means a kid that weighs 100 pounds is wrestling against a 150er's arms, chest, back, core, and neck.
Also, the legless wrestler is... well, legless. Now the other wrestler is missing probably 85% of his repertoire of moves (single legs, double legs, high crotches, knee picks, ankle picks, and so on).
Now I don't want to take away from the legless wrestler. It takes a lot of courage to wrestle with a disability, especially one that is apparent as his. Many times they have so much trouble fitting in with the other athletes they train with they don't want to stick with it. He did a helluva job.
P.S. I still dugg you up. You were definitely thinking from a different perspective when you wrote your post. I applaud that.
P.S.S. If anybody wants to question my credentials, I wrestled for 15 years and was asked to wrestle for my college. I turned it down so I could volunteer coach at the local high school's team. Someday I hope to coach my own high school team.- KamiKiller5000, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Right, outside of a headsnap or front headlock, how are you going to score?
- Contrast27, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1An informative and detailed response! Rare for digg ;)
Your insight is appreciated, as I have never been a wrestler myself. I just figured that given his odd circumstance, he is forced to invent a new style of wrestling, one that most all of his opponents have no experience with. Granted having no legs and no arms (sort of) is impossibly difficult to live and let alone play sports with, he still does have that element of surprise that he can use to his advantage.
- newbis, on 03/25/2008, -0/+10That may be true, but there is more of an advantage going to the legless wrestler.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3You can get control of someone from their wrist, but getting control of someone's bicep is another matter.

- skyshock1, on 03/25/2008, -3/+60I mean, the kid can't be put in an arm-bar. Or a leg-lock. I'd imagine he could probably wiggle his way out o f a full-nelson pretty easily. Kinda limits your methods of attack when the dude has no limbs.

- Gndoab, on 03/25/2008, -3/+17In the guy's defense, having done Brazilian Ju-Jitsu for the last 3 years or so, any kind of ground fighting with someone that you don't normally train with is incredibly difficult. I'm the lightest in my gym by at least 40 pounds, but have no problem handling the heavier guys. It's when someone comes in thats my weight class that I end up having the problem...
also, not being able to grab below the knee's or control the wrists puts the guy at another severe disadvantage.
The guy with the messed up arms and no legs beneath his knee's is not at that big of a disatvantage despite that, since hip movement is more important than leg or arm movement.
But again, he did just get his ass kicked by a guy with no legs and only one functional arm.
PS I am in no way saying the guy is awesome for what he's done with what he's got...just that wrestling is a little more complicated than it looks.- Gndoab, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1That last line was supposed to read "I am in no way saying the guy ISN'T awesome..."

- patriot050, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3This kid is defeating some massive hurdles he has a pretty good advantage to (no legs, no leg shoots), but frankly the kid in the blue is doing everything wrong after his attempted sprawls , they kid with no legs was obviously toying with him. (because he's the better wrestler).
- pakakapa, on 03/25/2008, -5/+3"I'll bite your legs off!"
- rasko, on 03/25/2008, -3/+11I'd still beat him at the high jump though
- Reclaim3r, on 03/25/2008, -1/+8Does anyone else think its super cool when the kid goes on all fours and moves around with the grace of a ninja tiger?
- BriscoeJr, on 03/25/2008, -0/+0Ninja tiger with it's legs chopped off at the knees?
- antonio97b, on 03/25/2008, -1/+17Well honestly, how to you pin a wrestler with no legs to the ground? Without legs he can easily rotate, twist and bend to get back on top. More agile. You can't take the legless wrestler down with leg attacks now can you? He actually has the advantage. Now if this was MMA where the opponent could just kick the little guy in the face, it would be a different story.
- PorkFluff, on 03/25/2008, -0/+25I feel bad for anyone that has to wrestle him. If you win, you're the guy who beat a kid with no legs and one arm. If you lose, you're the guy who got beat by a kid with no legs and one arm. It's a no-win situation for his opponents, socially at least.
- sclew, on 03/25/2008, -1/+0If you win, you beat an Ohio state qualifier. That would be pretty impressive and far from a lose-lose situation.
- theoceanmusic, on 03/25/2008, -1/+7I am sorry but am I the only one that got extremely creeped out by this. Imagine those half limbs locking onto you......dear god.
- genki831, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1yeah...that is creepy as hell...i couldn't do it. in fact i'll go so far as to say the kid who had to wrestle the no limb kid was the one who did something amazing.
- ivansusanin, on 03/25/2008, -4/+3guys come on why do these stories get so much hype, it just looks like the kid in black is wrestling a dog
- BriscoeJr, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1If he was a dog it would be more amazing.
- 83457, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3Another wrestler who was linked around the last couple year has taken up submission wreslting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWhByQuLSPI&NR - Sumyunguy, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3Poor kid in black is horribly coached. Several opportunities there to make a few moves that would have thwarted his style. Cross Face, Front headlock, sit-out, stand-up...all the basic wrestling moves you practice every day as a wrestler. That being said the guy with no arms and legs looks crazy strong and about 4-5 weight classes lower than he would normally be located.
- RedSaber, on 03/25/2008, -4/+2Oh my f*cking god.
- VinnieDaMac, on 03/25/2008, -4/+3If you win, you just beat a cripple, whoopie. If you lose, you just lost to a guy with no legs and no hands too(?). It's a lose/lose either way. How do you beat a guy with no legs and hands(?) anyway??
- RonnyIsRondo, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2How could you even wrestle him? He has no legs i would feel bad.
- genki831, on 03/25/2008, -2/+1honestly, how could you beat him. you'd be a huge dick and everyone would hate you for it. also, id hate to have to wrestle that kid purely because it would be the most uncomfortable experience of my life. i'm sorry, but that looks like something i'd have nightmares about. the whole thing is stupid.
- BruceDude, on 03/25/2008, -2/+4He's a jackass if he wins, and a dweeb if he loses.

- schmitey, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3For starters...that kid did not get the crap kicked out of him. They both scored points. Second, the larger kid was a sloppy wrestler! A good wrestler will NEVER be on his knees, you want all your weight on your opponent. The small guy was quick as hell and you're not shooting under him lol!

- coit, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2This is Kyle Maynard. Fantastic guy. Google him and be amazed at his accomplishments, and perhaps a little embarrassed by yours in comparison.
He won an ESPY award as a Sr in High School.- sclew, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1He's actually Dustin Carter, a wrestler from southern Ohio. He qualified for the state high school tournament at 103 in Ohio, which is an impressive feat in itself. He ended up losing before placing, but still received a standing ovation from a near 15,000 at Ohio State's Schottenstein Center.
- FunkyELF, on 03/25/2008, -1/+0Does that guy have an advantage because he has a lower center of gravity?
- elliotys, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2Actually the dude may have had an advantage. Not having arms and legs cuts a lot of weight off, so you could have a lot stronger torso, and still be in a smaller weight class. Also in wrestling most ways of getting in control of someone require you to take them down from a standing position.
- lucutus, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1Probably the gimps best moment for his entire life. Wouldn't have stood a chance in NY section5 '80- '00. Props for the effort and all. I'm not finding any inspiration to overcome my own disabilities from this though.
- papashawn, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1is that the same limbless male model that was interviewed on larry king awhile back?
no seriously, he was a wrestler. - WTF69, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2"What you feel proud of yourself because you beat a limbless wrestler?"
"Ha ha you got beat by a limbless wrestler"
Which one would you want to hear some one tell you - mrhaines, on 03/25/2008, -0/+5Not to put a stick in your inspiring wheel, but the only reason the guy is winning is because the other guy has nothing to hold on to. Not to say the legless guy doesn't have talent, but it is only people without a disability that would think this is "amazing" or "inspiring". The guy without legs obviously has an advantage here. Good for him though for not letting his disability hold him back.
You want inspiring, read about Terry Fox:
