- soccerkidjp, on 01/17/2009, -2/+61Oh. Whew. I thought he was replacing Robert Downey Jr. or something. False alarm.
- inactive, on 01/17/2009, -8/+42Imagine how good he'd be with TWO balls!
- fwertz, on 01/17/2009, -3/+29I first thought they were talking about a movie.
- Maynza, on 01/17/2009, -2/+22You would think mastering the trumpet and going to the moon would be enough for this guy. Jesus.
- richirwin, on 01/17/2009, -1/+21I believe he should do well in the cycling part of the competition.
- alangham, on 01/17/2009, -1/+16Except the title should be "...To Attempt Ironman". He won't be one until he finishes.
- clintmaher, on 04/21/2009, -2/+17Lance Armstrong seems to be popping up everywhere lately.
- mydragonfly, on 01/17/2009, -4/+16Is there anything this man cannot do. Talk about Mindset Mastery!
- edebolt, on 01/17/2009, -0/+12L.Armstrong resting pulse = 32
Miquel Indurain = 28
Sebastion Coe = 33
Muhammed Ali (prime) = 52
Reinhold Messner(first climbed Everest w/o oxygen) = 42 - RavagesOfTime, on 01/17/2009, -2/+10Just when you thought anything you've ever accomplished in your life was really spectacular....Lance Armstrong is back.
- psychohog, on 01/17/2009, -1/+8Gary Coleman?
- psychohog, on 01/17/2009, -2/+8Ha, I beat everyone on here by at least 40.
- clintmaher, on 04/21/2009, -1/+7@JamesBondJr, we shall see in July after the TDF I guess.
- Sp0rAdiC, on 01/17/2009, -0/+6You didn't even have to read the article, all you had to do was glance at the description.
- fracktica, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4I've always thought Lance should attempt an Ironman. He has an excellent marathon time (2:40-something?) and is a tremendous cyclist... Now he just needs to be able to swim 2.4 miles!
It doesn't matter who you are; finishing an Ironman is an achievement of a lifetime. I am truly inspired by the sacrifices that people make to achieve the impossible 140.7 mile journey. Life can be full of so much ***** - having the right last name, being in the right place at the right time, having the right politics, the color of your skin, ending up on the right team... none of that matters with the Ironman. It's you vs. your own humanity. - BayouBengal, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4@forcedfx Luke and Owen's last name is Wilson, not Olsens. There's a coach named Lute Olson though.
- justgenius12, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4I'm surprised he's didn't start doing the ironman earlier...
- gr8spAcstr, on 01/17/2009, -3/+7Who needs BOTH balls when
you've had BOTH Olsens? - Kerrigore, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4Keanu Reeves was born on September 2nd, 1964, while Lance Armstrong was born on September 18th, 1971. So Keanu is 7 years older. Just saying...
- Kerrigore, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4Yes. Because true athletes have allegations of performance-enhancing drugs. Until you do, it's proof that no one is jealous enough of you to accuse you of cheating, in which case you haven't been successful enough to achieve "true athlete" status. It all makes sense now...
- foomojive, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4i hear that man, this is one of the most grueling competitions ever. seriously, just try to run 26 miles and see if your legs can handle it. not to mention the 110 mile bike ride or the 2.4 mile swim.
question #1 to see if you're ready to run the iron man: are you insane? - BassMasterP, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4dugg for all the hate
if you have hate in your heart, let it out - venuspcs, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4no more likely with "Mork from Ork"........KR is too young for this old salty dog
- SpeedyG, on 01/17/2009, -1/+5So, for Lance, it's basically one Tour stage, plus a swim and a marathon. Doesn't seem too far afield to me.
- Skurt, on 01/17/2009, -0/+4Oh please, the title lured you in.
Classic Bait and Switch.
He is not go to BE Ironman
He is at best going to be AN Ironman.
/BullHunter is really a *****. - madin, on 01/17/2009, -2/+5This guy is really amazing. I'm curious how succesfull his cycling comeback will be. Is he going to win Tour de France once more?
- venuspcs, on 01/17/2009, -0/+3Don't you mean the TDL (Tour de Lance)?
- Daniel591992, on 01/17/2009, -0/+3Why not? He's doing this stuff for fun.
- teaguecl, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3You seem to forget that Lance already knows how to swim. He was quite a promising triathlete before quitting to focus on cycling. He will do Ironman, and he will be FAST (for a 40 year old). I'm guessing in the 9 hour range.
- dlan4327, on 01/17/2009, -2/+5You just know he's not human. Nothing can stop him. He probably hitched a ride to Earth with Keanu Reeves.
- mostie, on 01/17/2009, -2/+5Wasn't there an SNL sketch about this?
- trakie, on 01/17/2009, -1/+4do some googling before you look like an idiot:

the pros are tested. - riveraoor, on 01/17/2009, -0/+3haha me too ... it took me a whole second till i realized
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3@organic blood doping is why Steve Prefontaine lost in the olympics, those cheaters. :'( . and no this just means they are in awesome shape i wouldn't think blood doping would make a pulse lower
- Kerrigore, on 01/17/2009, -0/+3Yes, clearly he should have retired after he won the Tour de France the first time. I mean, what kind of show-off jerk goes on to win it another 6 consecutive times? Dude needs to learn some humility.
Of course if he hadn't won it 7 consecutive times he probably wouldn't be considered one of "the greats" in which case he wouldn't need to "accept retirement". Hmm, a quandary. How many times can you win a competition before you just need to "accept retirement"? Or is it that if you're great at one sport you're not allowed to try any others? - HiddenLYNX, on 01/17/2009, -2/+5Ironman, in normal units: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run.
I want to do one under 12 hours. - venuspcs, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3I want to do the Coast to Coast across NZ. But alas no passport, no bike, no crew, no sponsors, no nothing...........shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
- forcedfx, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3Luke and Owen?
- Conguent, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3Who else thought this meant he wanted the role of Tony Stark for a second?
- anshuman, on 01/17/2009, -0/+2Ohh... That Iron man ... !
:) - salinemist, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3He has a shot at it, but I wouldn't put money on him.
- edebolt, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3it's Pantani from the grave. eat dirt you loser !!!!!
- Kerrigore, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3Man, he coulda got a lotta free Whoppers. Of course, those probably wouldn't help him in July...
- DjOverEZ, on 01/17/2009, -3/+5"Lance Armstrong seems to be popping up everywhere lately."
That's what she said? - Spoomeister, on 01/17/2009, -2/+4Wow, doing the Ironman takes a lot of balls.
Um, I mean, ball. - KingGorilla, on 01/17/2009, -0/+2well he better drink up then
- inactive, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3He will finish it. with a sub 9 hour time too probably.
- inactive, on 01/17/2009, -1/+3ewwwwww
- HiddenLYNX, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1Oh get over it, it was an american race to begin with, started in Hawaii by some Navy Seals.
I was just saying that its normal because I've never seen a reference to it in metric only US standard, and apparently I offended you by saying Normal.
HA, fine, be offended... - inactive, on 01/17/2009, -1/+2Disappointing title :[
