- Digitalicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+101I bet wiping out in them blows though. They should show some people taking spills.
- b1m2x3, on 10/14/2007, -0/+100imagine running from the cops with those :-P
- TheHurler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+61I've got some, I got them at http://www.ExtremeExerciseEquipment.com, and I've got more info.
They were invented by a German man nearly ten years ago, but quickly knocked-off by the Chinese. International lawsuits occurred, and since the Chinese don't respect patents or any Intellectual Property law, they went after the retailers instead. For a while they were illegal to sell in the US (patent infringement - we have a patent respect treaty with Germany), but you could still get a pair on Ebay from time to time. Then a Korean company came to an agreement with the Germans and you can buy the Korean version now. Try SuperDairyBoy.com or ExtremeToysForBoys.com too.
Wiping-out really sucks. Like falling off a ladder going 20 mph. Imagine standing on top of a car as it cruises your neighborhood, and then diving off it for no good reason into the pavement. That's the experience you'll have falling off the PowerIzers. Unfortunately, I did this in front of a girl I was trying to impress. Fortunately, she was a nurse. Unfortunately, she still thought it was a pretty stupid stunt.
So, now, I perfer the air-kicks. Similar feeling, but not so high off the ground. It's more like walking on the moon instead of running. Boing-Boing-Boing! They're at http://www.ExExEq.com and also at http://www.BallisticToys.com
Those Wave Street Surfing boards and the Dirt Surfer are pretty cool too. At least, I get a kick out of them. - drafhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+57Yeah? Can you imagine the rise in occurrences of head trauma that will plague our Emergency Rooms?
I'll buy two. - saintdesy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45These + COPS = Best Television Ever
- davidrools, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34jumping over stuff is just the beginning. i can imagine some kickass games of ultimate frisbee or paintballing or basketball or whatever in those.
- tristan55555, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32These + Ninja = Unstoppable fighting machine.
- Catchpen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28tIGGERs CaN bOUnce!
- green1152, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22That was my exact first thought too!
- fantasticjon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17$238? no, It was £238s. Try $458.84 converted.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16The real alternative to Crackdown.
- zookee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16@flamingmb, would you rather spend less and be worried about them breaking? Its actually only a bit more than a new skateboard or a nice pair of rollerblades.
- moft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15They've actually been around for over five years - they were taken off the shelves of some retailers because they didn't put sufficient safety warnings on them.
I think another rumour was that they were sued because the didn't supply any safety gear (helmet, elbow, knee pads - can you sue for not getting a helmet and knee pads packaged with your K-mart skateboard?), which begs the question - should those dumb enough not to wear gear with them be allowed to buy them at all? - DurkaMcDurk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14@davidrools
are you offering sex for these? - WestDC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15@shrewduser
Snu-snu? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I've seen these before... I wanted a pair so I looked around online. I found some on eBay pretty cheap that DID ship to the U.S. but after reading the guys description about how much it sucked to fall, jam fingers, break fingers and almost get decapitated by a ceiling fan... I reconsidered buying these. Ever since I have been thinking of a safe way to use these things...
oh and here's a forum section about injuries on these things!
http://www.poweriserpages.com/forum/injuries-b14.0/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12lol - no one's getting decapitated by a ceiling fan... You might get a nice lump on your head, but any ceiling fans I've seen in the 29 years I've been on this earth have fallen way short of guillotine's.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@legato: Segways are pretentious. This on the other hand is just cool. I would love to go to university with those on.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Even a small fall looks really painful ---
http://tinyurl.com/yuap6g - mcrosby, on 10/14/2007, -5/+14Thought it was cool! :-)
- jivemasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Wasn't something like this made for people without full legs?
- chevymanusa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8US site: http://www.powerizerz.com/buynow.html
Says they ship 1-2 days in US by UPS, little more then UK :( - Legato, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8as anybody here actually used these? i too was looking into buying them until i saw the price tag, but i certainly wouldn't mind saving up... really the only problem i see is the whole segway effect of using these things in public.
- eggo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I would love to see what happens when the guys from Jackass get their hands on of some of these. I predict kangaroo jousting.
- zookee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6wow that looks like fun, but I'm having flashbacks from my skateboarding days, I can only imagine the wipeouts :(
- diggdong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Maybe now I could dunk a basketball.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Can you imagine paintballing with these?
- KeenanStorbeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_AI7DWCMjs&mode=related&search=
Alright you saw the pros's, and how cool/fun these things can be. NOW WATCH THE NOOBS!!! - EvilFerret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6As an ex-LEO.... I have to admit, if somebody was running/bouncing from me with those on....I would have to simply laugh at let him go. (Provided he didn't do anything serious of course) At the very least I would catch him, get a camcorder to record with and make him bounce over my cruiser a few times before I let him go.
- mcrosby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Me and a friend had this crazy idea last night of using them to jump over all the fences in our street - I think it would completely freak people out seeing someone jump into their garden then out again! Totally illegal of course, but its got to be done anyway! :-)
- mp3dog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'd love to see video of someone using these to run from the police in a foot chase.
- EvilFerret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4*****, I want them so bad! Goddamn they're expensive though.... Ugh, ***** it I'm buying them... My wife is going to try to kick my ass when she finds out, but I'll be bouncing away too fast for her to catch me :)
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Remember agent, skills for kills!
- cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sold out in Mexico everywhere.
(from YouTube comments) - SoCalDissident, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That forum is actually quite hilarious. Not so much the injuries, but every thread is "Ow, my !" or "My hurts!" etc...
- davidrools, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Can someone in the UK buy these and ship them to me? i'll make it worth your while ;)
- wvannus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've used them. They feel natural after a couple hours practice. The biggest thing to realize is that they don't give you any new abilities, just enhance those you already have. If you can't run down stairs, don't be hoppin down. The ones loaned to me two summers ago were laminated carbon fibre and cost about $1200 at the time. The only way to fall is to have your knees bent too far.
- xabstract, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.powerizerz.com/
- mattcoady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yea, who needs an uncracked skull anyways...
- SjRaptor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I didn't think these actually existed.. I always thought they were animated in the commercial for some financial advisor/investment company... cool
- enginbeering, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This video would be better if it had a wipeout montage.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4those are a accident waiting to happen
- da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I believe me and the other digg users would like to know. do these work on big fat guys? lol or is this going to be the pogo stick incident all over again
- theskunkworks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i wanna see someone do a face plant while hopping around in those things
- argash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sadly they don't ship to the US
- antikmart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Or just be black?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Some countries have really fast, metal blade ceiling fans ='[
- EvilFerret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They're obviously experts on these and extremely athletic...... I don't think an obese guy would be doing front flips or jumping over cars with these...LOL.
- JeffD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Similar looking but with less of a spring to it. Amputee runners use them,
http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/print/2189 - flamingmb, on 10/14/2007, -5/+7$238! I dont know, thats a tad to much.
