- FirstCuts, on 05/26/2009, -5/+73OK, has Jose Canseco gotten the message yet? MMA fighting is not something any roided-up freak can do. There is some skill involved, and Canseco severely lacks said skills.
- Kladionice, on 05/26/2009, -0/+61The korean man is huge, jeez!!
- Decibel9M3, on 05/26/2009, -0/+46Same 7' 2" Korean kickboxer, completely different outcome....

Fedor Emelianenko vs Hong Man Choi
He is 4 inches shorter and weighs about 10lbs less than Canseco too.....but then again, he is currently the baddest MMA fighter on the planet. He is also about 10 years younger too. lol - bakedpajamas, on 05/26/2009, -4/+42Snitches get stitches.
- Dignan666, on 05/26/2009, -0/+38In no way was I expecting Canseco to be the smaller fighter. I thought 7-2 was the Korean's fight record.
I mean, jesus, that size AND he has kickboxing and military training? What was Canseco thinking? - inactive, on 05/26/2009, -0/+326'4 240 lb guy looked like a midget
- badtzmartin, on 05/26/2009, -0/+32Glass Joe.
- mmaine, on 05/26/2009, -0/+32Who would've thought Jose Canseco would be a better writer than a fighter?
- rjey, on 05/26/2009, -1/+32Jose is still the winner, did you see his girlfriend?
- anexanhume, on 05/26/2009, -0/+30Why would you fight someone with a reach that measured California?
- ColinsvilleMD, on 05/26/2009, -2/+29Canseco's done some stupid ***** in his life, but this takes the cake
- TheR3dMenace, on 05/26/2009, -2/+29Being a roided-up freak surely doesn't hurt though
- thefourcast, on 05/26/2009, -0/+26It amazes me how professional athletes do such a terrible job managing money. He was a MVP baseball player and best selling author and he still needs to hop in a ring and get destroyed??
- harvinator24, on 05/26/2009, -0/+26That is one big mother *****, he made Canseco look like a little person.
- kingmanic, on 05/26/2009, -0/+26Manager: alright Canseco, they'll pay you $10,000 to fight a Korean guy.
Canseco: pfftt... Just one? ahahhah I look forward to to eating kimchi off the top of his head. hahahah. I wonder if he'll need a step ladder to swing at my face. hahah maybe I should do this fight on my knees for fun. hahaha
MAnager: errr.... Alright well we need that 10k.
Canseco: Ahaha this is going to be so easy. - jer21, on 05/26/2009, -3/+26cool story bro!
- allfatherblack, on 05/26/2009, -4/+25That's literally the largest Korean person I've seen in my life, and I lived in Korea for a year.
- allfatherblack, on 05/26/2009, -0/+19Man watching him blindly pitching those punches with nothing but faith and hope behind 'em was pretty hilarious. It looks as if everyone involved knew this wasn't going to be a contest, too.
- inactive, on 05/26/2009, -3/+21wow that's surprising!
- alpha94, on 05/26/2009, -2/+18Except that was only in a movie, and Abdul-Jabbar was his student in real life.
- m3arvk, on 05/26/2009, -2/+17Tell me more!
- ventralnet, on 05/26/2009, -3/+18i think he did quite well... connecting some punches to a guy that was twice his size.
- taokr, on 05/26/2009, -0/+14You managed to misspell "conquer" differently 2 out of 3 times...
- cschro, on 05/26/2009, -5/+18is it just me, or did he tap out like a little bitch? I mean, he dident even try.
noob - toonworld, on 05/26/2009, -3/+16a baseball player? in MMA!? I mean I could understand a hockey player or a football player doing MMA, but freaking baseball!? Might as well send a golfer or a tennis player. That would be even more funny...
*smack* 15-Love - jonnyeuchre, on 05/26/2009, -2/+15
You know what, most of the time celebrities do ***** like this, it ends with their faces looking like a plate of mashed potatoes. But Canseco did alright. The Korean guy was even checking is nose for blood at the end of it.
I'll give him credit for not looking completely foolish while doing something completely foolish. - dse78759, on 05/26/2009, -0/+12I remember an interview with him in the 97-99 stock build up where he was bragging about his portfolio and ragging on people who were happy with 20%. He probably lost alot.
- DrDragun, on 05/26/2009, -0/+12I'm sure most people think that but a couple of battering rams to the face from a 7 foot Korean would probably have you thinking you'd done enough to prove your manhood already.
- Decibel9M3, on 05/26/2009, -0/+11Getting his ass handed to him? Lol....at no point in that short fight was he ever getting his ass handed to him. If you watch closely, he threw and landed more punches than Hong Man Choi and he would have scored more points on the technical side. Not to mention, he almost submitted him once, and eventually ended the fight with the armbar. He handled that fight about as good as any other opponent could have.
I'm sorry, but a few punches and falling over on someone with your 7'2" 330lb body doesn't count as handing someone their ass. - dscan, on 05/26/2009, -6/+17It reminds me of Bruce Lee taking on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, only Bruce Lee had a chance.
- inigomntoya, on 05/26/2009, -0/+11His hand reached out of the ring and he taped the mat. But, I would have called the fight if I were the ref. Jose didn't have a chance.
- FallenTurtles, on 05/26/2009, -0/+11A Jose Canseco bat? Tell me: you didn't pay money for this.
- inactive, on 05/26/2009, -0/+10To give him credit he wasn't "running away like a spineless pussy". He was moving inside the monster's reach, striking and then moving out of the monster's striking range. It was the right tactic, he just didn't seem to have the heart to keep it up, or the knees.
- Alli3388, on 05/26/2009, -0/+10I think Canseco is funny. I kinda like him.
- amorrise, on 05/26/2009, -0/+10MMA guys are freaking tough. Canseco probably smashes beer cans on his forehead and thinks he can take heavy hits. Meanwhile the rest of the MMA fighters are smashing beer cans on their foreheads too, full ones.
- inactive, on 05/26/2009, -1/+11He's big, but he's not a very good fighter pound for pound, his only advantage is his size. He lost to lots of 6 ft fighters in both K-1 and MMA.
Fedor whopped his ass in less than 2 minutes. - martoq, on 05/26/2009, -0/+10Been in a lot of MMA fights have you?
- passedoutghost, on 05/26/2009, -0/+10Spoken like a true internet tough guy.
- ronindigg, on 05/26/2009, -0/+9not just you
- ZzFDKzZ, on 05/26/2009, -0/+9He did tap.
- Antialias, on 05/26/2009, -1/+10I always wondered with this MMA stuff if we just don't see the true "masters" of kung fu or whatever. It always ends up in grapples and rolling on the ground but if someone like bruce lee had ever done MMA would it be any different? Could someone really be good enough with some martial art that the could avoid any holds and always use striking?
I don't really watch MMA though I've only seen random clips on the web so there may be some guys like that? - DarkBlueAnt, on 05/26/2009, -0/+9This reminds me of using Dan to fight Sagat in Street Fighter 4.
- theduffster89, on 05/26/2009, -1/+9He did way better then i thought he would do....he did land one good punch at the beginning but that was his best shot
- inigomntoya, on 05/26/2009, -0/+8Wow - we must have been raised differently. I was always taught to feign an injury and pray for mercy from your assailant... /s
- stealthrocket, on 05/26/2009, -2/+10I give Canseco a lot of credit for even getting in there. At the end of his life do you think he'll look back and regret it? At least he's living life unlike most of you pussies putting him down.
- FirstCuts, on 05/26/2009, -0/+8Vid is definitely NOT down.
- JCEEZ, on 05/26/2009, -0/+8Loyota Machida is the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion and has a VERY unique style because of his former training in Karate. MMA is super new and constantly changing. Right now it's dominated by Brazilian JiuJitsu and muy thai / kickboxing. Who knows what the future will hold as other martial arts are adapted to the MMA format.
I've heard the "Kung-Fu (or any other traditioanl martial art) vs MMA" argument 100000 times but I don't know how good of a comparison can be made. MMA is a sport, with rules. I've studied and practiced a few martial arts / wrestling before and thats the biggest thing. Karate is as much about breathing techniques, tradition etc as it is about self defense. Wrestling is 100% a sport. I lived in Japan for a a while and took ninjitsu for fun for a few months, and we had entire lessons on small joint manipulation (fingers and toes), something that is completely banned in the UFC, not to mention the higher levels are stuff like "how to siege a castle". We had lessons on how to improvise weapons with stuff like pens and chopsticks, throat punches, kicking in the balls, raking eyeballs, yelling into someones ear... and all sorts of other gnarly stuff. it's like saying, whats the best way to get into the endzone in football, without rules, you'd have a different sport then football as we know it.
Bottom line is, a top MMA dude would probably be a top Karate guy if he spent as much time training that as he did MMA, and probably the same in reverse. Tough dudes are tough dudes. - jedinate, on 05/26/2009, -0/+7That will pummel anyone into submission !!
- Lavarock, on 05/26/2009, -0/+7Well we can pretend it's a scenario where two people are fighting who don't want murder charges.
- Stingwolf, on 05/26/2009, -0/+7You must be basing that comment on Bruce Lee's "fighting" in movies. If you read his writings, such as the Tao of Jeet Kun Do, you'll see that he mentions wrestling, grappling, and in-fighting quite a bit. It is an important aspect of any fight. Even those who want to focus on striking should at least be knowledgeable enough to escape from a grappling situation.
