..................................., - IRAcarbombs, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2I disagree with a couple of your points, the win against Hopkins looks a little more credible since he beat the snot out of Pavlik. Sure Joe didnt get a fight out of Wales until the last couple of years but hell, the guy was undefeated and got ducked probably more than any other fighter during that time ( except for Winky ). Tszyu in my book is not a legend, come on he was a good fighter but not a Hopkins, Jones or Mayweather.
- jbeardsl, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2OK my original comment was pointing to the first comment, as the guy who had the first comment linked to an .exe virus file. The first post has since been removed I guess, so please continue with the original article. Moderators FTW.
- MonTheBuds, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2This is a growing problem on Digg. Mashable did an article on it yesterday. http://digg.com/security/Digg_Quirk_Malicious_Trap
- djmphoto, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2I was at the fight, it was pretty intense at the beginning when Joe went down, I was like "Is that it," they Roy got his ass handed to him for the rest of the fight.
- kjd84, on 11/10/2008, -2/+4Jones is a shadow of his former self. He should have retired a long time ago. Calzaghe's hardest fight to date has been Kessler and that was truly a great win though I must say that apart from Kessler and Hopkins fights he hasn't done anything else. Beating the 2008 Jones is no big deal IMO he should be looking to fight Chad Dawson IMO.
Yes Calzaghe has a few great names at the end of his Career. But the likes of Jones Jr, Benard Hopkins, Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather have had fought greats all throughout their career and that is the difference between Joe and true legends! - Stonekeeper, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2To all the nay-sayers: Jeff Lacy *was* that young, hungry, in-his-prime fighter you keep saying Joe has never fought. The guy had his arse handed to him. Joe, at 35, totally destroyed a young, ripped world champion. Give us all a break, Joe is a legend.
- GoKings, on 11/09/2008, -1/+3That fight was embarrassing for Roy Jones... Just embarrassing...
- Stonekeeper, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1ninjavideo apparently, so someone said.
- chazman24, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1Any one got a link to the fight ?? :D
- paulclough, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1http://www.mycatalogworld.com
Joe Calzagne quits! think that's a good decision to go out in this fashion... some athletes hang around, lose their luster, and just fade away. Besides, I'm sure that boxing takes quite a toll on the body... another good reason to call it quits "early." - mitchua, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1Here's a liveblog of the whole match http://www.scribblelive.com/Event/Roy_Jones_Jr_vs_ ...
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1he doesnt rape enough to be truly great
- Junior612, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1I liked the park where Jones pretended to get a booboo over his left eye. Oh wait...
- cgoodwin, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Nah, Lewis is probably more iconic. Calzaghe is great but he has that 'but' after any statement you make about him. He's unbeaten but he didn't fight the best at their peaks. He made a record number of super middleweight world title defenses but he mostly fought nobodies. That's not his fault, you can see his frustration when he spoke about it at the press conference. His talent was let down by his promoter. The great shame is that 5-7 years ago he had the talent to live with greats Hopkins and RJJ at their peak - Joe might have beaten them, we'll never know - but the boat sailed as they aged and his legacy will be marked by that. Saying that, Calzaghe is an all time great boxer, but Lewis has an amazing record too and he beat all-comers, Tyson aside (not Lewis' fault, Mike went off the rails very young).
- IRAcarbombs, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1thats what i was saying, just like Winky except for now Winky wants money fights and is getting stingy like BHOP did later on in his career ... but it worked out for him in the long run. Seriously though, you think Calzaghe couldve stayed in there with a prime Jones Jr..... i think not.
- kjd84, on 11/12/2008, -1/+1I was saying that his most credible wins were against Kessler and Hopkins.
I also don't believe he was ducked. I think he was protected by Frank Warren as a cash cow much like Hatton was until he broke from Warren.
Hatton's win against an ageing Tszyu was a good one but Hatton had everything in his favour.
Hatton would not have beaten a prime Tszyu or even the Tszyu that was in the ring in Mitchell II fight. But history is just that and Hatton was the winner that night.
I have to say I do like Joe he is a great boxer but I just wont believe he was ducked.
To see what he has done to Lacy though is amazing. Lacy is a shadow of his former self.
Calzaghe exposed him and Lacy has never bounced back. - wsgwilt, on 11/10/2008, -0/+0CYMRU AM BYTH! WALES FOREVER!
- AngusMustang, on 11/10/2008, -3/+1I've never seen an "emphatic victory on points..."
*yawn* - funk1999, on 11/10/2008, -5/+3***** you for posting the outcome in the title. ***** you.
- TEEMANOID, on 11/09/2008, -7/+1That's not saying much tbh.
