Final Standings-->http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/results/3229?viewall=true - listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Thanks for ruining it. Couldn't the title+description have left out the actual winner, indicating that clicking the link would reveal him/her? I would have liked the suspense when watching it on TV.
- fishbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I mean, really... USA Today published as much in their headline of the story. You were going to hear about the winner before-hand anyway.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It'd be nice to even be 200th place. I mean damn, good payouts.
- rxbandit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Seriously, you can post a story without ruining it for every digg user hoping to avoid reading about the winner.
- acemilo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I was really looking forward to watching the main event, thanks for ruining it. All you had to do was put "WSOP has a winner, click to find out who won" instead of "This guy won the WSOP". That was seriously inconsiderate.
- senatorkevin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Even ESPN has the winner's name in their scroll on the bottom line. This happened last year too, get over it.
- kyleh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2wow, im gunna try to forget who won so i can actually enjoy the show, thanks for the spoiler alert buddy
- Fenster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hope you were actually in Vegas or knew some one at the final table and not just a pay-per-viewer. I like the ESPN broadcasts as much as the next guy, but I can't imagine watching live poker without knowing the cards.
I have tried to watch the older WSOP events on ESPN and I can't watch the ones where they don't show the hole cards. Seat 1 bet $200. Seat 2 raises to $400. Seat 1 folds. Good hand, who did the right thing? Who do I cheer for? Kind of like playing war with the cards face down. - rhfb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stayed up till around 2am Vegas time watching it live. Pretty cool stuff, but can't wait to see the ESPN production so I can see the Hole cards.
- skyzp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1talk to some of the actors that this guy represented and find out how wonderful a guy he is. not. bah.
- Aidenag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man you guys are retarded.... how the hell am i bieng bashed for saying who won... i mean come on people...... that would be like someone posting "SuperBowl Over" for the headline of a superbowl winner story... OF COURSE i named the winner....... and yeah if ANYONE thinks they wouldnt have known it before ESPN airs its crappy coverage.. dream on...
Jamie will have already been on leno and letterman LONG before you guys get to watch the series tape.... - bigdc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't mind the spoiler, as I knew who won already. But the title should refer to the Main Event of the WSOP, not the whole WSOP. The WSOP is a series of (this year) 45 events. The Main Event winner is just the biggest luckbox, not the best player. That honor probably goes to the winner of the $50,000 buy-in HORSE event this year. The buy-in was 5 times the main event, and you had to play poker games other than Hold Em.
Seriously guys, if you're going to complain about knowing the winner already, then why are you watching the repeats of the 2005 WSOP every damn day? If you really wanted to watch it on TV and be surprised, you should have coughed up the $25 and watched it on PPV. Every hand. Zzzzzz.... - listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@thekitchengeek
This is different, though. Most sports events are broadcast (more or less) live. A single person may wish to not know the result due to an inability to watch it live. It is reasonable for that person to avoid media outlets that would report on such an event.
The WSOP, however, is not televised live (AFAIK). Everyone who watches/will watch it has been delayed by multiple weeks. The original poster could have at least proceeded with discretion. This post ruins it for everybody, not just the one person who missed the live broadcast. - josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You poking my eyes here?
- terrordemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1boo @ doug kim losing in 7th
and boo @ gold's rediculous table edicite - ihateatmfees, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was a public event that could be seen live at the Rio in Las Vegas, seen live on PPV, heard live on SIRIUS, and its result can be seen on the front page of nytimes.com, espn.com (who's network is airing the tape-delayed coverage), and google news. Saying that the winner doesn't belong on Digg is unwarranted.
- everfresh59, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Only shows how just about anyone can win the World Series, with a little luck and some mentorship from the likes of Johnny Chan. Congrats on the 835 players who lasted out of the 10,000 competitors to take home a prize!!!
- ehberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0in terrordemon's case
rEdiculous is means to be ridiculous - dvide, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1jesus that page royally screws up my browser
- listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Everyone: consider burying this story (OK, this is lame). Then digg the story I just posted into Other Sports.
Do it for the children!! - blakex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Would have been nice to not see it as a headline here. Main event starts in 2 weeks on ESPN and there's probably a lot of people waiting to watch it there rather than having it ruined by a headline on Digg.
Current news, yes. But couldn't it have been put in the body rather than the title? Or just a link to a story? - dadrew1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its funny, his last name is Gold, One of the other's was Moneymaker - are these just nicknames, or am I onto something?
I'm going to enter one of these tournaments and name myself Andrew Cashalot! - jwegan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ari Gold is based on Ari Emanuel, not Jamie Gold. source: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-aquaman28jul28,1,339510.story?track=crosspromo&coll=la-headlines-entnews&ctrack=1&cset=true

Then you're not a poker player. You should be able to discern a range of hands from the bets and know how you'd play against them. Watching that poker game last night was amazing. I stayed up until 7am EST to finish it off and loved it through. It's much better when you don't see their cards because it gives you practice on reading plays. - senatorkevin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Can't believe the real world Ari Gold won the WSOP.
- blakex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@thekitchengeek
"if you don't want to know who won any kind of sports event, you should avoid all forms of media, including radio, TV, newspapers and the Internet."
The thing is, I have Digg on my Google Start Page because it's more or less tech news. That's what I come here to read. I have politics turned off completely and while I'd prefer not to do the same to news and sports, I might have to to avoid spoilers.
It would have just been easier and made more sense to not post the winner in the title of the story. - ehberg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Boo Hoo, you found out who won the WSOP. All you babies need a nap.
