- gnotDigger, on 12/27/2008, -3/+14Don't stand in the middle of the god damn slope you retards If you want to do instruction do it somewhere safe. I can almost guarantee this idiot was right smack dab in the middle of a sweet run. You see these jobbers all the time on the slopes.. Like the fact you have a kid with you is some magical protective shield that means everyone else is supposed to go 2 mph down the slope.. Get Real. Its not like this skiier had some fantasy of killing someone on the slope, Oh yeah that's what I dream of everytime I go skiing i just want to kill someone by slamming into them hard #@%# NO! That ***** would hurt bad!
- badqat, on 12/27/2008, -3/+13Take all of 3 minutes to RTFA before commenting, please.
- divinediva, on 12/27/2008, -2/+11It is the second fatal accident at an Italian resort.
- supermanKD, on 12/27/2008, -0/+8I agree a bit with both of you. I love to rip down the greens and blue runs just as much as any other decent snowboarder. I never go so hard that I can't even stop before hitting the people in front of me, that is just stupid. But I see gnotDigger's point. One of the first common sense rules in skiing or boarding is don't sit in blind spots. I have seen my fare share of kids sitting at the bottom of a large jump if you are gonna be that retarded you better apologize to the rider that nails you
- kurtwinter, on 12/27/2008, -0/+7I'm on the fence here. First of all, if another skier could be coming down at such a rate of speed, they were probably on an intermediate or expert slope. So why the ***** was the victim teaching his kid how to ski on an intermediate or expert slope? Because parents today can't sacrifice anything - they want to ski down the courses that they want to ski on, and drag their kids behind them. Beginner and bunny hills are what you teach kids on, not intermediate. Often, they will be in the middle of a slope, or right beyond a mogul, making it damn near impossible to see them or stop in time, and they are often giving their kids very beginner lessons - like how to get back up without removing their skis. The only times I've fallen the last several years I've skied is to avoid hitting these idiots, and I'm sick of having to risk my safety to protect the stupid and their offspring.
- axelgrease, on 12/27/2008, -2/+8***** these days...
- esilverski, on 12/27/2008, -1/+7On the mountain, yes. But hit-and-runs shouldn't happen
- CaviMike, on 12/27/2008, -1/+6I tend not to stop my car in the middle of the hi-way so why would I stop in the middle of a ski slope? Too bad he had already procreated. Darwin, you have failed us yet again.
And please tell me, what exactly is 'careless skiing?' Skiing with scissors in my hands? I would have to say stopping in the middle of a ski-slope is fairly careless. - Ibox, on 12/27/2008, -0/+5so we read in the article...
- ispshadow, on 12/27/2008, -0/+5Yeah, I thought that same thing. I thought I was seeing an article from the Wild West here in the America.
"WANTED: Any Chinaman"
For the crime of jaywalking!
DEAD OR ALIVE: $500 dollars
That part about the British was just filler to get people stirred up and find the nearest foreigner to lynch. - deathspeth, on 12/27/2008, -3/+8I hate grammar Nazis, you never add to anything other then pointing out a mistake. Then you pretend like you had no idea what the article is about.
- chrissku, on 12/27/2008, -0/+5'The resort is very popular with foreign tourists, including British, and at this stage we cannot rule out the possibility that the culprit was a foreigner.'
This detail is meaningless at this point. Unless the police can say for certain the ethnicity of the assailant I just don't see why this was worth mentioning. - Gavin, on 12/27/2008, -2/+6Um.. What evidence do you have that this story is false?
- DangerCollie, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4I had some assbag come so close to me he actually crossed the tail of my skis. That was the one time I really felt like following someone and hammering the snot out of them. I know it wouldn't do any good, he'd still be an *****...a bruised and lumpy one...but why does it seem like it would feel so good?
- dondara, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3"I know it wouldn't do any good, he'd still be an *****"
You don't know that. He might have learned his lesson and gone on to cure cancer. Or not. Besides, kicking his ass is about making you feel better, not him. Kneeling on some moron's chest, punching him over and over is very satisfying. Then take his wallet so he can buy you drinks till your hands quit hurting. - inactive, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3The idiotic reporter probably asked 'do you think the perpetrator was British?'.
Its a ***** terrible newspaper, the Daily Mail. - BN2L, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3Not enough info to judge really, as a competant skier nothing annoys me more than learner skiers weaving on black runs or narrow transverses were momentum is essential. I will always ski polite and safe but there's always some ***** who stops directly in front of me just as i'm overtaking. People need to be aware of whats going on around them, that goes for fast and slow skiers. To some extent road rules apply on the slopes, you don't just pull out onto a highway without looking, you don't just stop suddenly without checking behind.
- BillE3, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2Um, how about blunt force trauma?
- inactive, on 12/27/2008, -3/+5Drakoi, I was laughing at you the whole time I was reading your comment, RTFA and just keep your mouth hole shut.
- Murdats, on 12/27/2008, -4/+6I grew wings the other day and saved 500000 orphans
what evidence do you have that my story is false? - kolop1, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2Look out!!!
- Tarkaan, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Shows what I know about skiing. I thought you were advocating a hate crime there.
- BillE3, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2While at a California popular and famos ski resort my wife and I were part of a group of vicitms of a total jerk that was zigzaging down begginers slow slopes knocking down everyone he could. All the time shouting obscenitities at everyone on the slope.
For some reason there are idiots that prefer to use the slopes designated for families with children and slow skiers to race down at high speed. - Paulish, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2I remember when I was probably 10 or 11 I did that once. The guy chased me down the slope. Scared the ***** outta me. You better believe I never did that again.
- BillE3, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2The rules of the slopes are to avoid slower skiers; not to run them off the slope.
- BillE3, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2I always wondered if they give out jack ass pills with the snow board rentals.
If you are that good; then stay off the green runs where beginners are trying to learn. Blue and Black runs are for going fast. - Gavin, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1Dang, that dude must have been really fast.
- DEADB33F, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1Careless skiing is any form of skiing which endagers other mountain users, including yourself or any rescue party who may have to come to your aid should you get into trouble.
This could be skiing beyond your ability, stopping for lunch in the landing area of a jump, skiing off-piste in an unsafe area, etc.
I spent winter 07/08 in france and have spent some 50 weeks in total on the slopes, so am not some dumb tourist.
Towards the end of the season I was hit hard by another skiier, breaking four ribs, giving me severe concussion and cutting my season short by a month.
I was skiing a blue run on the way to the park. The run I was cruising along on crossed over a red where some french idiot was barreling down way way too fast for his abilities. After the hit I ended up around 100yds further down the slope. I got up and started to run back up the hill towards him with the intention of beating the living crap out of him. Fortunately for him he was knocked out cold by the impact.
I was very poor so didn't have insurance. With this in mind I put my skis back on and nursed myself back down to our chalet where one of my flatmates was a GP.
I'm 27 and in the prime of life. Had I been in my fifties or a child I'd probably be dead right now. - oda1, on 12/27/2008, -3/+4The headline makes it seem like the hit-and-run guy killed his own father. English isn't that hard, c'mon.
- gnotDigger, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1Dumbasses do this on ANY run. Blue and blacks its even more common because some newb is scared to keep going and just stands in the ***** MIDDLE of the ***** slope or takes of their skis and starts walking down the GD middle. USE THE SIDES. HOW HARD IS IT TO USE THE SIDES. Its like someone standing in the middle of the street Yes its only 35 mph but you're ***** retarded because there are cars sharing your space! Move outta the way! Right of way doesn't matter when you're in a world of pain.
- bRUTALkANOODLE, on 12/27/2008, -3/+4People downhill do have the right of way so you should be watching out for them and be in enough control to stop at any time. If you don't want people standing in your way go hit some blacks where there aren't instructors or noobs.
- BillE3, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Richard Cranium loves to go down the sides and running slow pokes like me off the green run all the while filling the air with his limited vocabulary of profanities.
Typical of jocks. - illDecree, on 12/29/2008, -0/+1It's not his article you dumb *****
- gnotDigger, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1Exactly what I'm trying to say!
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Buried for the Daily Fascist
- BillE3, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1Without eyes in back of my head it is really hard to see Richard Crainium in at tight tuck streaking down the bunny slope for a short cut to the chair lift.
- whatthefu, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Why are you judging a guy you never knew based off a little sliver of information provided by the Daily Mail of all things?
- Tarkaan, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1***** you. Two of my friends died in skiing accidents.
Actually, they did. :( Kevin was 14 and Mickey was 18. Both in Vale over Christmas Break, three years apart. - whatthefu, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Hit and run. Can you not ***** read?
- inactive, on 12/27/2008, -4/+4Jesus *****' Christ people, he was making a joke about the title. It was poorly written, and that is a fact. But just take it easy and just let him be.
- inactive, on 12/27/2008, -2/+2misleading title, not the killer's father.
- iomatic, on 12/28/2008, -0/+0Always some damn skier. World would be better place with just board sports. I kid, I kid.
- JazminMillion, on 12/27/2008, -2/+2Accidents happen...
- LarsonLE, on 12/27/2008, -0/+0That's what I was thinking...
I wonder what kind of injuries the father suffered? - Fuckmypooplease, on 12/28/2008, -0/+0I'm not saying the story is false at all, i'm saying the Daily Mail are likely to sway it in one direction. It's irregardless if it's something as fact based as this story, there is only so much you can change...it's the Daily Mail's general writing.
- mbac, on 12/27/2008, -3/+3The suspect just turned himself over to the police (breaking news on http://www.corriere.it/ )
