- TheEngineer2008, on 06/29/2009, -0/+5It's time to repeal this worthless law. You can help. Send a letter to Congress in only 60 seconds at: http://capwiz.com/pokerplayersalliance/home

- FreddieD, on 06/29/2009, -0/+3Gambling in any form is hardly a hobby of mine, but I think it is very bad that the government sticks their noses into things like this. The saddest thing is, unless someone who was truly libertarian was in power, the Poker Players Alliance will have a tough time with most any democrat *or* republican. They really find themselves in a bad no-man's land between a Democrat's desire for big government and a Republican's desire to appease the religious right.
- TheEngineer2008, on 06/29/2009, -0/+2PPA didn't endorse anyone during the primaries. We didn't have a PAC at the time. However, I rated Dr. Paul A+ in our guide. I rated Barr/Root A+ as well.
Check my blog for pics with Dr. Paul, at http://poker.townhall.com - TheEngineer2008, on 06/29/2009, -0/+2"lol. I don't need a history lesson from you."
It seems you do. - TheEngineer2008, on 06/29/2009, -0/+2PPA didn't endorse anyone for president. Why do you think we endorsed Obama?
- WilliamDavis, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1Maybe "endorsement" was more in my own head than reality, but the PPA usually profiled Clinton, Obama, Huckabee, Romney, and McCain.(most often without mention of Paul at all) Often, they characterized Obama as a poker player. Maybe I believed that because of the countless poker players talking about how Obama's a poker player. A lack of endorsement, and calling Obama a poker player wasn't the right thing to do if they didn't want poker players supporting Obama.
I guess PPA should have endorsed someone in the primaries if they wanted to advance their own cause. Doing nothing got them the same nothing they can expect next time with that strategy.
None of that is directed at you personally, btw. I know you have personally tried to make useful things happen. - TheEngineer2008, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1William,
PPA couldn't legally endorse anyone in the primaries. We didn't have a PAC. IMO we made it clear that Dr. Paul was the man for poker rights. I'm familiar with the profiles, as I wrote them, and Dr. Paul was always prominent. Additionally, I've sumbitted plenty of articles on Dr. Paul, Campaign for Liberty, and Barr/Root here, many of which hit the FP. - CoD4, on 06/29/2009, -1/+2OMG PONIES
- WilliamDavis, on 06/29/2009, -2/+2lol. I don't need a history lesson from you.
The PPA had a chance to endorse Ron Paul early on, who was the only candidate clearly on their side. That "republican-democrat" stuff is nonsense. Most of those people are establishment vs non-establishment or rich vs poor.
And if their endorsement was for Obama last time when there was so clearly a better alternative, why do I even care who they endorse next? That endorsement was obviously not about who would have been best for poker. Paul would have likely suspended enforcement on it immediately.
These other guys.... they never stop damage caused by previous administrations. They just continue on with their own damage. - svendm, on 06/29/2009, -3/+2This bill was passed at midnight at the last session before congress went into recess for the 2006 election. A sneaky passing of a bill by a Republican-majority house, a Republican-majority senate and a Republican President.
So, exactly WHAT was the better alternative to Obama? - WilliamDavis, on 06/29/2009, -2/+1"To help to rectify these problems and to stand strong for our equine industry"
What? That looks like a poker site. The Poker Player's Alliance endorsed Obama when they had a much better alternative. Sad, really, because Obama has made clear plenty of times that he's not a fan of the gambling industry.
