- TortfeasorG, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22i'm pretty sure it's that god-aweful music that's driving the fish crazy
- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14That's quite possibly the most redneck thing I've read on here in quite some time. :)
Who eats carp anyway? - dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Actually Sally, he's right on the ball. These fish apparently DO react like this because of the electric current from an outboard motor on the boat.
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I've actually seen this happen, it's not as rare as you'd think. When there is a sudden change in barometric pressure it also affects the fish and makes them go nuts. It usually happens right before a lightning storm.
- Tito151, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Yea, in Illinois somewhere, they have a contest of who can whack the most fish jumping out of the water. They do this during the daytime and fish are just flying everywhere. It literally looks like a war movie where troops are storming a beach and bombs and bullets are flying everywhere. People use tennis rackets, 2x4s and whatever they can get their hands on to smack the fish that jump at them into their boat. Worse part of it is that they don't even taste that good. It sounds bad, but the fish are an invasive species and need to have their populations drastically reduced.
- mankyd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@zionad
It's a protected river. No fishing allowed. On the other hand, who knows if fish jumping into your boat qualifies as "fishing" under the law ;) - drcreep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10So, that's what fish are up to when we're asleep.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9fish just wanna have fun
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16Actually, I have seen similar video from a news report how about some rivers and lakes are being overrun by an outside species of fish brought over and introduced from another country (Asian Carp is the species). These fish are multiplying like crazy and destroying the local species. Its actually a huge problem and they are trying to prevent these fish from entering the Great Lakes region.

Thanks for that. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm just waiting for the first ***** on here to yell "Fake!"
- Tito151, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I know! Isn't it? When I saw it, I laughed so hard and wanted to compete. People actually get knocked out of their boats from getting hit in the head by a flying fish. I know no one eats a carp. I meant that you're killing all these fish and you can even eat them ...
- duster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8There's a first for everything. Someone saying that Joe Satriani is "god-aweful [sic]."
- redDC143C, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Anyone else here reminded of the Fly Fish in Super Mario Bros.?

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7whether* not weather.
- saverio911, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It sounds like the jumping Asian carp in the Midwest. They react like this when they sense electric currents from an outboard boat motor. People put up nets on the side of the boat to keep them from hitting the driver.
http://extension.osu.edu/~news/story.php?id=2409 - RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its the Top Gun Anthem!
- Chewy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2why is anyone digging down the guy above me...he is absolutely 100% correct
- lifesagame, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They're probably Silver Carp, one of the species of imported Asian carp that are overruning many US waterways. They react this was to the sound of motorboats and also to electric current. They can reach 40 lbs and jump 8-10 feet. Think it was on Nova recently as part of a special about the impact of invasive species.
- GringoFlash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's too bad the fish weren't crocodiles.
- Devilhorn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Screw the fishing rod, wheres my damn skeet rifle?
- cairohenrique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey guys...
This video is from a Brazillian's state called Rondonia.
I was born in Brazil and I don't think this even interesting... for me it's pretty normal.
It was a preservation reserve that the fishes and other animals grows with no interference.
The river was crowded and the fishes were closed by the boat... the light and the sound scared them.
Sorry about my English...
See you in Amazon - aliensporebomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Joe Satriani did not do the music for that - that was Steve Stevens of
Billy Idol's band. Eesh. -
