- doctordbx, on 03/23/2009, -0/+14Those of you on planet America.
The rest of us are quite familiar with it. - chetanthaker, on 03/23/2009, -0/+14IPL moves out of India; BCCI blames govt, Govt blames Pakistan, Pakistan blames India, India blames pakistan again. This cycle will never end. All we do is play the blame game.
- nuance2k5, on 03/23/2009, -6/+18Who cares about IPL when there are more pressing issues in the world. Let the government think about the welfare of people and not about IPL. I think BCCI and IPL deserve this. They have been behaving like they are above law and it is not in the best interests of any country to have an entity behave like that.
I think the headline should have read 'IPL outsourced'.... - supermanly, on 03/23/2009, -2/+12Yet you cared enough to comment on it instead of simply ignoring it?
- Swivelstick, on 03/23/2009, -1/+9I bet more people watch and go to cricket matches then any sport you watch or participate in, you xenophobic dingaling.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -7/+15Digg the ***** out of this so other people here will actually understand that WE DO CARE ABOUT CRICKET !
- manonmars, on 03/23/2009, -2/+9IPL outsourced!
- nigelmansell, on 03/23/2009, -9/+15frontpage for Indian Premier League. today's a slow day for digg.
- bays, on 03/23/2009, -0/+6gonna be a whole lot of unhappy indians in the morning
- jayvisaria, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7......which makes the "I" in IPL completely misleading. I doubt this will go down well with the fans who finally got a chance to watch some professional sports with the IPL last year, I would expect donestic viewership taking a hit due to a lower profile of the league. On the flip side, I can watch IPL matches live in the US and Canada without staying up all night.
- ucccft, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5THANK YOU!
- desibabu90, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3hate bcci but since its cricket on digg, im digging it
- knowmonger, on 03/23/2009, -2/+5U can't blame the Govt. The elections need security. Why can't they reschedule it after elections? All this wouldn't have happened if Pakistan stopped their cowardly funding of terrorism in the veil of religious madness.
- vinodmeshram, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3disappointing but the sensible move.
General elections are more important than cricket. - inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1so India shouldn't aspire to be a greater power just because of its poor populace. So should they not invest in Science and Defence (considering that its surrounded by AHoles). Its easy to be on a high horse in the place you are. Groud reality is much more different.
- eumaaza, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1IPL-2 cricket t-20 format is shifting to another country probably UK or South Africa it seems.Who is to be blamed?nobody!!As per the cricket blog the Indian central government took the right step in making it clear to IPL gang that they cannot provide security as it will clash with election time in India
http://goonda2008.blogspot.com - Gizza, on 03/23/2009, -1/+2I can understand why some people might think Test Cricket is boring, but you have obviously never seen a Twenty20 match which is what the IPL consists of.
To put it into baseball terms it would probably be something like a match where every single pitch was hit for a home run. - prasantc, on 03/23/2009, -1/+2The crowds will be missed. Although they dont make a big difference in terms of overall revenue for the IPL, the crazy crowds in India are as entertaining as the game itself.
Having said that, elections are definitely priority #1. But, it is inexcusable that the state and central governments made the BCCI run in circles for weeks before realizing they could not provide security for the event. - sourabhg, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1I think government is right this time....maintaining security when 100 billion population is voting in an election is no easy task..
In india, threats are not only from external factors...but also intimidation from local gangsters and etc...
So having a fair election by itself is a very difficult task...(there are cases of booth capturing..not all voting booths are electronic...in many places voting still takes place on ballot paper) - chaddichor, on 03/23/2009, -1/+1It'll be in the daytime, most people in the US/Canada will be at work.
Games will be held at 4 and 8 PM India time. - sathias, on 03/23/2009, -6/+6I can't stand the IPL... too many good players are being poached from around the world, and for what? I just don't really care who wins, unlike watching Australia play. Someone on ABC Radio said it best, that during the player auction process you never heard a player say something like "I am looking forward to the honor of representing the Mumbai Indians on the field", the only statements made were more along the lines of "I am glad that I was able to get $800k during the auction process".
- mysn239, on 03/23/2009, -2/+2You idiot there are toilets in the capital city!
- cyberbite, on 03/23/2009, -2/+2India's love for cricket exists from a long back, when Gulli danda used to be played, however it is important for us to understand that what is more important: elections which will decide the future of India (Watsoever) or Cricket (in which cricketers and IPL will earn money and everyone will be back to their homes!)
Elections are more important......... Much more important than IPL matches!!!
PS: Thank you terrorism, for arousing this debate in the first place! - sriram2hi, on 03/29/2009, -0/+0Indian govt. has sent a bold message to adamant BCCI that it won't dance to it's monetary tunes.
- vinodmeshram, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1Its Final.....South Africa to host the IPL 2.
excited to see the "Manoranjan ka Baap" :) { Father of Entertainment :) } - dhoomdhz, on 04/27/2009, -0/+0IPL 2 - Live Online Streaming AT www.rlslog.in
- sharma23, on 03/25/2009, -1/+0I think it's one of the worst steps taken by Lalit Modi to move the Inidna Premier League out of India. Now we can call IPL as International Premier League. Indian fans will be totally frustrated by the move from BCCI.
http://cricketvillage.blogspot.com - eumaaza, on 03/23/2009, -3/+2IPL-2 cricket t-20 format is shifting to another country probably UK or South Africa it seems.Who is to be blamed?nobody!!As per the cricket blog the Indian central government took the right step in making it clear to IPL gang that they cannot provide security as it will clash with election time in India.
http://goonda2008.blogspot.com - amatyarakshasa, on 03/23/2009, -2/+1This move is not about Pakistan or terrorism or cricket. This is about politics between the Congress and the NCP. IPL is Pawar's cash cow and hitting him where it hurts is merely one move of a pawn in the overall political chess game to motivate Pawar into sticking with the UPA, something he might not do since the UPA appears to be crumbling and Pawar has PM ambitions.
So yes, there are things bigger than cricket that are going on. However, it is not the logistics of holding elections but the politics of alliances that is the main issue here. - newstart, on 03/23/2009, -4/+3In a country of 1.2 billion no one cares about the masses. They can build a rocket to go to the moon but wont build toilets in the capital city. Times of India can put adverts such as "Is India the next super power?" but will not look down at the garbage and dust collecting underneath the billboard. India is perfect example of priorities gone wrong because no matter what Government comes in power, each one of them is either corrupt or boot-licker. And also democracy does not work if the people in the system are criminals.
- chaddichor, on 03/23/2009, -8/+7They should've moved the elections out of India instead.
- cricpal, on 03/23/2009, -2/+0I have had enough of these IPL boses, money above everything attitude, voice your comments
http://www.cricpal.com/blog/view/id_63/title_IPL-W ... - ucccft, on 03/23/2009, -3/+1You will be the only ONE watching the Big BORE!.
- coldicephoenix, on 03/23/2009, -5/+3I'm an Indian... and even I DONT #$*@ing CARE! Cricket is waaaaaaaay overrated in India
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -4/+0Get your alphabet soup off my internet and into my belly.
- diggmehard, on 03/23/2009, -5/+1So you mean Kashmir is the root cause of all these.
- kreatr, on 03/23/2009, -6/+1Who cares! Cricket sucks anyways ..yeah digg me down now.
- lead2thehead, on 03/23/2009, -7/+1Are you retarded?
- doctordbx, on 03/23/2009, -9/+2Basically because whilst Indians are cricket mad, they don't support the game by.... turning up to the ground to watch it.
- ucccft, on 03/23/2009, -10/+1NO ONE CARES! NO ONE!
- lead2thehead, on 03/23/2009, -16/+1Right... because why the ***** is this on the front page? Is there seriously ANYBODY who cares about Indian cricket leagues?
- lead2thehead, on 03/23/2009, -17/+2This is on the top ten list of things I don't care about.
- Cyras, on 03/23/2009, -17/+2...and I care? I bet most of us didnt even know anything about the IPL/BCCI before this.+
