they answer the question in the article... remote controlled, underwater housings....they also have infrared remote trip sensor things. I know that some wildlife shooters use stuff like that to get close ups of dangerous animals. i dunno if it works underwater though.

Step 1) Get a camera.
Step 2) Place in waterproof case.
Step 3) Place in pool.
Step 4) Use remote to take pictures.

I don't know why it's impossible for him to be underwater during the race. Just because of the rules? If that's the case it's not impossible, just improbable.

Uh, the obvious, and actual, answer is that he put a camera on the bottom!

Could it be that the cameraman recorded it, then went back home to play the video back in slow-motion and then take the picture ? I didn't mean that he edited / doctored it. But it could be that he didn't not take the picture right when the swimmer jump into the swimming pool.
