- MrBelding, on 02/27/2008, -2/+40Mercy for $20 million I would have fought Mike Tyson in his heyday
- brokencode, on 02/27/2008, -8/+44Luckily for him, wrestling is fake.
- JustJoe4Life, on 02/27/2008, -6/+32In a real fight, Big Show would crush Mayweather's head like a fragile walnut, however I expect this match to end with Show getting beaten by a Lou Thesz-style whack over the head with a TV monitor.
- tkilgore04, on 02/27/2008, -2/+26And people wonder why professional boxing is losing their fan base to MMA.
- DeadlyCouncil, on 02/27/2008, -1/+22*****, 20 million to dance around in a fixed match with a 7 foot 300 pound teddy bear?
Where do I sign up? I'll bring my own spandex. - belac88, on 02/27/2008, -1/+18Hey...it's WWE now
- PlagueDoctor, on 02/27/2008, -0/+15It's still real to me, dammit!
*cries* - aspec, on 02/27/2008, -0/+15Think you'd have seen that $20 million after the fight, Richard?
- ZenDavis, on 02/27/2008, -2/+15Sorry. I didn't elaborate. Ring of Honor is a much better professional wrestling promotion than the WWE. I just saw them this past weekend in New York City and it amazed me how much more enthralling their product was compared to the WWE. The show was the company's 6th Anniversary Show and they really went all out for NYC. If anyone is looking for something new and a step up from the stagnant WWE product, you deserve to check out Ring of Honor. The company is also on PPV and is going to have their 6th PPV show on March 7th for only $10. You can't get a better bang for your buck.

http://www.rohvideos.com/ - inactive, on 02/27/2008, -6/+18I saw a sports clip of this match up. WWF...hummm. I wonder how they are going to stage this to where both come to a draw.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -3/+13It's ridiculous to me that seemingly intelligent people lodge what they mean to be a condescending remark of "its fake!" Yes, we know, and we still enjoy it. We don't know what is coming next, for move sets and so forth, and personally I don't want to see someone legitimately hurt (call me crazy), but I still enjoy athleticism and the entertainment aspect of it.
These people in this fake sport still end up with broken necks, torn quads, and crazy injuries and come back repeatedly to perform for the enjoyment of others. It's well documented that most make ***** money, have no retirement fund, pay their own rentals, etc. (excellent documentary called Beyond the Mat is quiet the eye-opener). I would wager to say that they suffer more or at least just as many injuries as "legitimate" sports like football, which is rougher on the face of it, but there is at least all that padding and so forth. But despite all this, they continue to perform under these conditions, knowing the potential consequences, because they love to do it. How is that not worthy of respect? How, may I add, is it worthy of such DISrespect from so many that enjoy other sports? I love watching football, but I don't think people that like golf are any less.
And I'll end this with the obvious notion for those who feel the absolute need to say "it's fake" (like we don't know already and you are shattering our world) that all TV shows (besides reality shows) are fake, and just as enjoyable. We wrestling fans are not any less intelligent or deserving of respect for our taste than you are for your taste in UFC, boxing, football, etc. - glbowens, on 02/27/2008, -0/+10Mayweather doesn't care enough about boxing to try to keep it alive. Mayweather has always been about himself ONLY. He's doing this strictly for the money. I love boxing and have watched it since I was a little girl, but things like this are making boxing more of a joke than anything else.
- hilo4321, on 02/27/2008, -4/+13big news.
- Riotblade, on 02/27/2008, -1/+8So their blood and sweat isn't real? I wouldn't call every aspect of wrestling fake. They still use 10x more energy than any digg user would.
- tucsonwc, on 02/27/2008, -0/+7Mayweather should step into the UFC ring. Instead he's following in the footsteps of Donald Trump?
WTF? - CommentPoster, on 02/27/2008, -1/+8Yeah, man. I love the World Wildlife Foundation too.
- Combat, on 02/27/2008, -2/+8Me too! However, everyone knows wrestling is fake as hell. 20M for that? *****...
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -5/+11I just logged in to say anyone who still says "it's fake" - should say that to families of Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and Owen Hart. This is ENTERTAINMENT. Good vrs Evil. Athleticism. Story telling.
But you haters go back to watching 30 second MMA fights or boring-azz boxing. For those not into sports, go back to watching movies (FAKE!) or reality tv (.....you guessed it, fake!!). - boombye, on 02/27/2008, -2/+8WWF was better.
- gallagherFTW, on 02/27/2008, -1/+7Finish: Big Show eats Mayweather but Mayweather jabs and stabs his way out of Big Show's stomach. Mayweather wins by TKO when Big Show is ripped in half by someone that is the size of his mid-morning fecal droppings.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -0/+6Hmm, how come boxing enjoyed two of it's greatest runs shortly after Tyson appeared at Wrestlemania and Ali fought Inoki? Boxing is NOT losing it's fanbase because of Floyd Weather doing a gimmick match in the WWE. Give MMA more credit than that. It's simply a more exciting sport.
- quomen, on 02/27/2008, -1/+7RICK ROLL WARNING.
I already memorized that ***** URL. - Kronos6948, on 02/27/2008, -1/+6How many times is Vince going to have a gimmick match at Wrestlemania? For crying out loud, you had Mr. T box Roddy Piper in WrestleMania 2, and that was a flop. You'd think Vince Russo was back writing for the WWE, but he's doing quite a great job at keeping TNA in the tank. Why can't wrestling be enjoyable like it was in the early to mid 90's again?
- ZenDavis, on 02/27/2008, -0/+5They turned a record profit.
- chrisgnv, on 02/27/2008, -2/+7Hey, his funeral.
- ipfree, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4$20 good for him. I find it funny how people complain about how much money people make. They make it because they generate more for somebody else. Any way usually they are too dumb to save it so that money goes right back to the economy.
- luweez90, on 02/27/2008, -2/+6"Fake fight". That annoys me tbh. Sure the outcomes of wrestling matches are predetermined but its hardly "fake", apart from maybe most of the punches and kicks. Its still physically demanding and they do still get hurt.
- SupaDawg, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4WWE had a record year last year, and Vince McMahon currently has a personal net worth exceeding $1billion.
Then again, trolls don't often do their homework. - piratearggghhh, on 02/27/2008, -1/+5I loved wrestling...grew up watching Hogan, Ultimate Warrior etc. then later on Stone Cold, the Rock, etc. All that changed years ago when I went to a live taping of Smackdown. It was the fakest, lamest thing I've ever seen. It's boring and nothing like TV. After that, I gave up on it.
- DeadlyCouncil, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4Well fine then, but I'd still be getting paid $80,000 per pound he has on me.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -2/+6It never fails when some ***** idiot says "XXXX still exists?" that that XXXX is basicaly coming off a record year in profits.
iPods still exist? Google Search still exists? Coca Cola still exists? - EvilCan, on 02/27/2008, -1/+5I guess there's no real competition but it is physically demanding.
- extranonsense, on 02/27/2008, -2/+6Mayweather to fight in WWE, booooooo. Join the UFC Mayweather and get your ***** talking ass kicked for real...
- serif69, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4Hey! I use way less energy than that to completely not give a ***** about wrestling!
- Conwaysb0718, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4Did he just refer to himself in the third person at the end of that article? Conwaysb0718 thinks so...
- TheAtomicMoose, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4Worrying over the authenticity of wrestling is like worrying over the crunchability of doritos.
- dmoney22, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4Maybe the whole "get paid to be a human punching bag" started to wear him thin when he could dance like a fairy or fake fight and get paid the same.
- gallagherFTW, on 02/27/2008, -2/+6eat a ***** plz
- DOCKAUF55, on 02/27/2008, -1/+4Mayweather should just beat the ***** out of Big Show and show him what a real fight is like.
- DesertDude, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3Well, he can pull his hair. I don't care if you're 7'1 500 lbs., that really hurts.
- EvilCan, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3I do have to give you that...
- AmidTheSnow, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3It's scripted, not fake.
- luweez90, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3Its fake to an extent.
- belac88, on 02/27/2008, -5/+8Big Show took about a year off to train as a boxer...this would be a sick boxing match, he weighs like 3 times more than Mayweather.
- SupaDawg, on 02/27/2008, -2/+5Very well said.
I find it even more entertaining, that a vast portion of the people who rip on wrestling are that same people who find their entertainment in violent video games, and action movies.
Hell, the WWE doesn't even pretend to be unscripted anymore. *****, the company name itself includes the word "Entertainment".
It's a scripted display of athleticism with creative, and often over-the-top storylines... which is what makes it fun.
But i'm not going to try to convince people. If i've learned anything in my 3 years on digg, it's that people aren't receptive to the ideas of others. - kingcesar, on 02/27/2008, -1/+4wtf, wrestling's fake?
- historicity, on 02/27/2008, -1/+4Isn't that the point?
- Conwaysb0718, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3all their fanbase are belong to....
- luweez90, on 02/27/2008, -1/+3If you hate it so much, just don't watch it, its really that simple. Those of us who DO enjoy it know that its fake but we don't mind. Its entertaining anyway.
