Seriously, the colder and stormier it is, the better they like it. The hard part with Huskies is getting them to stop, not getting them to pull. The PETA people don't know what they're talking about.
- snowhite9, on 09/27/2009, -2/+11Awwww..
gotta go pet my dog now.. - EastBury, on 09/27/2009, -2/+8Being from one of the checkpoints on the Iditarod Trail, I find this article to be very cool :) The village I'm from, Shaktoolik, is one of the harshest and windiest checkpoints, with temperatures dropping as far down to -82, and hurricane velocity winds.
The first woman to win the Iditarod, Libby Riddles, left Shaktoolik during a storm when no man dared to leave! - StatMech, on 09/27/2009, -0/+4Have you ever seriously considered using huskies to pull to you to work and back every day?
I have. - MDawg957, on 09/27/2009, -0/+4+1 for being a cold-ass digger!
- EastBury, on 09/27/2009, -0/+4They are wearing felt booties, helps protect their paws from ice, hard snow, and debris.

- biofriendlyblog, on 09/27/2009, -2/+5These dogs are beautiful and amazing!
- pchi, on 09/28/2009, -0/+3Why are folks digging you down? These photos and accompanying text were posted to boston.com in March 2009.
Yes, the photos are breathtaking but it's still blog spam - jeffreyjrose, on 09/27/2009, -0/+3I agree; Siberian Huskies almost get crazy when winter hits. Our dog will run up to snowdrifts and shove her head all the way into the snow and hold it there until she can't breathe and then pull it out. During winter walks when you want to go slow because of ice, she pulls harder on the leash because she thinks you're getting stuck and wants to help out!
The saddest time of year for her is early spring, when she seeks out the last remaining snow piles that haven't melted and rolls around in them, relishing the last trace of winter. - Kamrusepas, on 09/27/2009, -1/+4Agreed, My Huskie falls asleep in my garden on cold days. She also has a habit of grabbing my German shepards Collar and dragging her around (The huskies half her size, maybe less)

I love my Sibes. - rif42, on 09/27/2009, -1/+2Why are the dogs on photo 4 wearing orange Crocs? Sponsorship deal?
- inactive, on 09/27/2009, -0/+1Me too :)
- Ceru, on 09/28/2009, -0/+1Even though I own just a halfbreed Siberian Husky, I can agree on this. They were bred for this kind of life. A very intelligent, powerful, and beautiful breed that will run all day if you let them. :)
- CidX, on 09/28/2009, -1/+2Buried. Stolen from http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/03/dog_sledd ... from March 2009. Intro is even copied word for word.
- JakeBC, on 09/27/2009, -1/+1There was a dude on a skateboard being pulled down my street by a husky the other day. He was passing people on bikes. Dog looked happy as hell.
- rif42, on 09/27/2009, -2/+2Dogged - for cool photos and use of metric unit.
- bales2552, on 09/27/2009, -3/+3I'm So Happy!! that, I saw these pictures.
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 09/27/2009, -2/+2Awesome pictures, but it makes me realize I couldn't ever own a happy Huskie in Southern California.
Also, from the links at the bottom... what the *****: http://englishrussia.com/?p=1522 - kryst1n, on 09/27/2009, -2/+1i've always wanted to go dog sledding. I bet that would be fun...minus the extreme cold weather
- tragedyfish, on 09/27/2009, -2/+1Huskies' motto: If your feet aren't bleeding by the end of the day, you're not working hard enough.
- choopie911, on 09/27/2009, -3/+1The Yukon Quest is cooler :P It was actually the featured wikipedia article yesterday.
