- shoff88, on 09/25/2008, -1/+25Really would have liked to see some concept pictures....
- chickenloco, on 09/26/2008, -1/+19Yeah, and it will probably be $20 a game.
- JargonScott, on 09/26/2008, -2/+19It takes a lot of balls to run an alley that big.
- obliviousfool, on 09/26/2008, -2/+15Because you can't bowl in your home town?
- Schda, on 09/26/2008, -0/+10It's a shame that they have the money to do something like this that's really kinda generic when you think of all the amazing theming in Floriday, and they don't have the money to keep something like the Adventurer's Club open
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventurers_Club
It's the most amazing drinking establishment I have ever patronized, and unfortunately Disney decided they wanted to completely remove Pleasure Island, and with it an amazing bar/show. - lanismycousin, on 09/25/2008, -4/+14mickey mouse shaped pins ? =)
- mediaspree, on 09/26/2008, -1/+9you can swear on the internets...you won't go to heck
- zydeco, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7Because you can't hold a tournament for 20,000 bowlers in your home town.
- ufchrisg, on 09/26/2008, -1/+7It's the largest participation sport in the world and has been for quite some time.
- BoneStamp, on 09/26/2008, -1/+7I want mini-bowling... kinda like mini-golf except you have to bowl it through a windmill (and whatever else) and try to knock over as many pins as possible.
- LanceUppercut, on 09/25/2008, -5/+10Not bad. Who will be the pin monkey, Jack Sparrow?
- deviouskoopa, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5Not for a relatively exorbitant amount of money you can't...
- DigxDug, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4I'm a lane mechanic / bouncer for an upscale ally/club on weekends (pays the bills while I'm in school).
We prefer the title of pintech ;) - TheCooler72, on 09/26/2008, -3/+6Just what I want to do with a $60 ticket: go bowling.
It always blew my mind back in the 90s, when I would go to a theme park, and the arcade would be packed out with kids wasting time playing games that they could play at their local mall. - obliviousfool, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3I didn't even think of that. PBA tour goes to Disney. Bring the kids. Spend money. That makes a lot more sense.
- coasterswim, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Are you expecting the average Digg reader to know what the Tomorrowland Transit Authority is?
- kiiwii, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3I'm pretty sure entry into the Wide World of Sports complex is free as long as there's no big events going on.
- kiiwii, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3If you put aside your blind corporate hatred, you'd find that it's actually a great place.
- mattearle, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4Is bigger really better when it comes to entertainment activities? Not for me, imagine how annoying this place would be.
- phronq, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4F it, Dude. Let's go bowling.
- kiiwii, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2I remember as a kid going into Innoventions and being excited about using a computer connected to the internet via a T3 or whatever it was they had at the time.
I was a big dork. (Wait, did I say was?) - doshindude, on 09/26/2008, -1/+3you haven't been to new england, have you? candlepin is ridiculously popular here.
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Thats it..they have all this valuable IP and Household names, but they make a bowling alley. LOL
- divxrippimp, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2I don't get why this is so amazing? There is a 96 lane bowling alley 5 minuets away from my house... Freeway lanes, Wickliffe, OH... Why is Disney making a big deal about 4 more lanes, and i don't even think that 96 is the record... its nothing special, just big enough to accommodate the amout of people who go to Disney world...
- Mootabolife, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2haha, copyrighted lines
- HappyScrappy, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2What's the big deal? There were 76 lanes at the alley I went to all the time growing up (right by Flint, Michigan).
- nesagwa, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2This is true. Its a hotel / sports training facility outside of the actual theme parks. You can go and walk around it without paying a dime just like you can at any of the hotels in Disney.
Id go to Epcot when I was a kid (my dad worked there until I was out of highschool) to play Genesis and Saturn games at Inoventions at Epcot before they turned it into some sort of Internet / Educational / GE powered ***** fluff walkthrough place. But then again, there wasnt much else to do in Epcot back then either. - Harbinger1080, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1what? cause i don't like bowling? or wide world of sports? or because i happen to live within driving distance of disney?
- zydeco, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Reno used to be the largest place, but I guess this is Disney trying to take away some of that action.
Traveler's tip: When flying to Reno, check to see if a tournament is going on. If so, carry your baggage on, or it gets crushed by the dozens of bowling ball bags falling off of the baggage return slide. - inactive, on 09/26/2008, -5/+6Oh, COME ON!
- shaba1, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Dubai will beat this very soon..
- inactive, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Is Disney World anywhere near the In-N-Out Burger?
- charlietuna, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1The Oompaloompas from the Wonka remake.
- mike42979, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1I know which one your taking about, right of hwy 50, it is a big place but didnt know it was 80 lanes. Oh and BTW movies in SW Orlando are about 9 bucks a pop.
- Shakermaker, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1...and you'll still have to wait 4 hours to play.
- qpid, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1$700b?
- Literaturfan, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Great! I'm looking for!
- Gr1nch, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1no one saw GOB's picture apparently. sorry buddy. good joke.
- fyrescraps, on 09/26/2008, -3/+4I want to have a custom ball made. A clear one that has a fake Walt head in it. Unless of course someone could pull the real one out of the freezer
- jrattner1, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Hahah you must of went to highschool in the 60s
- NJank, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1WITHOUT PERMISSION!!!
hehe - abrasion, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Who dugg this down? it's total lol :)
THIS IS WHAT SUPER ADVENTURE CLUB ACTUALLY BELIEVES - RandoTheKing, on 09/26/2008, -1/+2Bowling is the best sport in the world.
- RandyF, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1It's probably a regional thing. Around here in the Pacific Northwest, the biggest centers have 25-30 lanes. Even down in Las Vegas the biggest centers only have 75 lanes or so.
100 lanes is 4x as big as most of the centers I have ever been in (not counting the Vegas ones). - StrangeFamous, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Wow, I didn't think that it was THAT dated.
Am I the only one who has a soft spot for arcades? - RIPtechtv, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Man I went bowling with a friend a few months ago for the first time since the late 90's that was around the time when bowling starting to lose its popularity around here. Anyways I was shocked that we played 2 games with the shoe rentals it was $32.00.
When I was a kid I remember the local bowling place had a thing on Friday nights where to payed $20.00 and you could bowl for a few hours. Not to mention durning that time they had color pins and if you hit a strike and if the pins where in a certain order you would get that dollar amount I remember my dad once got $150.00 in a night. They wouldn't let kids do it so I would just watch my dad. :( - ccanni1028, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1On the other side of town near UCF, $9 is the student discount. It's $11 for a nighttime adult ticket. Matinee price is $8.50 for adults and students.
More on topic, there is also an 80-lane high tech bowling alley right up the street too. - FlyingPhotog, on 09/26/2008, -1/+2Bowling is under-rated. It's one of the very few things you can do, that you get better at while consuming alcohol.
- mbondr, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Kind of pitiful compared to the following article on Dubai. Our American corporate leadership must go. Our upper class twits are like great anchors dragging on Western progress.
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -1/+2The did this for 2 reasons, to attract tournaments and fill hotel rooms as a result, and to provide more bad programming for ESPN.
