- BenTheTank, on 04/15/2009, -2/+36A good decision. I hope he stays retired.
And to state the obvious: The Pacquiao fight was terrible. - Caedus, on 04/15/2009, -0/+21A bit overdue, but then again, most sports retirements are.
One of the greatest boxers of all-time. - TheBigSquid, on 04/15/2009, -2/+20But will he still wear women's underwear?
- DrVic, on 04/15/2009, -0/+17He lost 4 out of his last 7, it was time to retire. One of the greatest of all time.
- streetrunner, on 04/14/2009, -0/+14I remember following him in the 92 Olympics when I was 12. Man that was fun and one of my favorite sports memories.
- xsecretfiles, on 04/15/2009, -2/+13It's Oscar De La Hoya BITCH!
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/09_03/OscarH ... - liljay2k, on 04/14/2009, -7/+18Living legend.
- wardsac, on 04/15/2009, -0/+10Good fighter. I could do without all the other stuff (the promotions, the media lovefest, etc) but he was one of the better technical fighters in recent memory. I think it was time to hang them up for Oscar, but he can look back on a great career with pride.
- jlm408, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8I can't totally make fun of him for those pictures, because I think his bod looks better in women's underwear than mine...and I'm a woman.
- AudioLoveMagic, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8Celebrity Apprentice bait.
- CedEx, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8I liked the fight... it was like a Pacquiao showcase. The Pacman was showing off all his moves at will, which was really entertaining for me, only because I like Manny. But you're right, when the fight was so one-sided, it's not as exciting anymore.
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -0/+8terrible for de la hoya
- bail3yz, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7Sad to see him retire, but it was necessary.. he took a beating in the Pacquiao fight..
- adorkable81, on 04/15/2009, -2/+9La Hoya used his money to produce a studio CD = FAIL
Pacquaio used his winning money to build school for his people = FTW - ZeeZee2k, on 04/15/2009, -0/+7You know who was wearing a thong? Ricky Hatton
- ZeeZee2k, on 04/15/2009, -0/+650 bucks says he's going to be on dancing with a star first.
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -0/+5Agreed. I like Oscar, but he should have quit 5 years ago.
- mrogi, on 04/15/2009, -1/+6DLH is a handsome charismatic kid, but he got this ass kicked almost every time he faced a great fighter. He will get into the Boxing Hall of Fame based mostly on his drawing power at the box office.
- BenTheTank, on 04/15/2009, -1/+6And terrible for everyone who watched it. It was like watching Pacquiao training with a punching bag.
- tkotam, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3Good fighter, terrible singer <duck>.... :-)
- kenedamick, on 04/15/2009, -2/+5Boxing is and forever will be more entertaining and more of a sport than MMA ever will be.
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2I would argue Light Weight Boxing is the most challenging form of boxing. I mean which is harder, knocking a guy out, or relying on three guys to end the fight and miscount how many punches were thrown.
- mightyslick, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Hatton is a prankster, he has come into the ring wearing a fat suit before.
- 1000feetper2nd, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2Turns out La Hoya funded a school, as well as a cancer ward in his mother's name. FTA:
"De La Hoya has donated money to fund a cancer hospital wing named for his late mother in East Los Angeles and a charter high school downtown that bears his name."
...FTW - bail3yz, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Dec 2008.. he fought Manny Pacquiao.
- blankmedia, on 04/15/2009, -1/+3Should have fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr
- flamesoftheend, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2Humans are given fists, man has fought for ages. Fighting is a natural human experience. At leaste its regulated and hes not just punching people for no reason.
- frontaxle, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1More time for the ladies. His face still looks good despite the pummeling.
- aahpandasrun, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1More time for him to dress up in fishnet stockings and sexy ladies outfits. Anyone else see those pictures? (and they're not photoshopped)
- Acquiescence, on 04/15/2009, -2/+3I thought he was dead...
- PabloIV, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1Hey that guy lived right around here. I wonder if he still does.
- adolfojp, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1He already recorded a pop album and married a pop music hottie (Millie Corretjer) so dancing with the stars can't be far off.
- DamnedSaint, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1You clearly haven't seen his earlier fights, he was nothing like this. Manny Pacquicao fight was the only blemish in his career. I'm sure people can forget that.
- migu3457, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1was about time
hopefully, he wont try to came back - inactive, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1This will last about 6 months....
- Infinitedigga, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1Trolling on Digg is and forever will be more entertaining and more of a Fun than not Trolling ever will be.
- MDtech, on 04/15/2009, -2/+3While I'm a huge MMA fan (and, admittedly, not much of a boxing fan), comments like these do not belong in a thread like this. It's not related to the story at all; it just makes you look juvenile/foolish.
- Cowboy1015, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2He's the most exciting boxer of my generation.
Now, it's Pacquiao's time. - Infinitedigga, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1He just got lazy doesn't want to train hard. He doesnt have anything to achieve in the ring anymore so he doesnt have goal , no goal no drive so he doesnt train hard therefore he sucked at last fight.
- vanguardanon, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1He might have more money than Donald Trump. He's very successful outside the ring.
- flamesoftheend, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1I dont know if it counts as competition
- damack, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1Consider those 4 fights he lost were against Manny Pacquaio, Mayweather Jr, Bernard Hopkins and Shane Mosley.
The former 2 are two of the most talented young fighters in boxing(though Mayweather is "retired") and the latter 2 are two of the best boxers in the history of their divisions.
Hardly shameful losses. - edgarreyes, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1as silly as he looks dressed like a woman, he can get away with it. Money and fame pretty much allows you to do whatever you want! And he is just retiring from boxing, he has a full life ahead of him still!
- BaldOuting, on 04/15/2009, -0/+0i remember back in the day if he was fighting someone it was allll over the news, and now it's not as widely covered.
- stanggt3, on 04/15/2009, -2/+2Thank god....hes long past his time and hes FAR from a "legend"
- cambob76, on 04/15/2009, -1/+1Dang it! I was gonna kick his ass!
- BaldOuting, on 04/15/2009, -1/+1he wasn't already retired? when's the last time he fought?
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -1/+1Once he lost his head movement and speed it was time to retire. He had absolutely no upper body movement for defense whatsoever against Pacquiao. One of the top fighters when he was in his prime and very underrated in my opinion. Mosley barely eeked out wins against him and that was when Mosley had to use roids to stay competitive.
- lavy112, on 04/15/2009, -0/+0Good fighter...
I enjoyed watching him in action... - ColinZeal, on 04/15/2009, -2/+2Retires to ladies lingerie... :-)
