- DigSomeMore, on 08/27/2008, -0/+30Holy crap...no way I am missing this if it happens...
- helooksmortal, on 08/28/2008, -2/+27MANNY! MANNY! MANNY! MANNY!
- damndj, on 08/28/2008, -2/+24Whoah. Oscar is going to get torn apart.
- DeadPain, on 08/28/2008, -1/+21Heh, except that Pacquiao is gonna beat the crap out of De La Hoya
- BigPapi, on 08/28/2008, -0/+17Did anybody see the David Diaz interview after he loss to Pacquiao? I'm so used to seeing lame locker room interviews on ESPN where people always say the right appropriate thing like "they played really well, we really need to step up our game". Diaz on the other hand kept saying stuff like "Man that ***** was ***** fast!" Goddamn hilarious.

- chubbybubba, on 08/28/2008, -1/+18Alot of people are complaining that De La Hoya should fight Margarito, but who wants to see Margarito beat up on a great but fading Golden boy.
Alot of people are complaining that Pac is way too small, but pac has never fought someone stronger than him. It's time to see what pacquiao can do when he's a true physical underdog.
Alot of people are complaining that Oscar is just in it for the money. If its his last fight why shouldn't it be?
This fight makes alot of sense for both fighters. For De la hoya (even as the favorite) it can cap his career with a win and a paycheck. For Pac a win would legitimize his p4p status and garner him the money he deserves for future fights.
I say, Lets get ready to rumble. And everyone else... quit your whining. - aschepis, on 08/28/2008, -1/+14This is great! Whether you like Oscar or not, you really can't say that he hasn't always tried to take on the best fighters and take on the biggest fights. Manny is the #1 boxer in the world pound-for-pound right now.
Now the bad news for Oscar.... His career is full of great fights against great fighters where he always came up a little bit short. I have a feeling that this fight against Pacquiao will end in similar manner. I predict a victory for Pacquiao on points. Probably unanimous. - TheDarkTemplar, on 08/28/2008, -1/+12Good move to Skip the olympics by Manny. The Phillipines would have paid him $250K for winning gold, but he stands to make millions from a fight against De La Hoya! This should be a good fight since both fighters have lightning speed and hard punches, it won't be a boring heavy weight fight.
- otto989, on 08/28/2008, -0/+11MABUHAY!
- Attol, on 08/28/2008, -2/+11Go wear an Affliction shirt.
- faceless323, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9This will be a good fight. But I was looking for De La Hoya vs Margarito, especially after Margarito beat Cotto.
- kenedamick, on 08/28/2008, -2/+11Pac-Man is going to eat De La Hoya alive.
- archer104, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8Uh...he's like the richest boxer/promoter ever.
- iamgerard, on 08/28/2008, -0/+8Link is broken. Here ya go (interview starts around 4:30 into it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_DD1fKmW8g - Waiting2awake, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7True I was watching that giggling. Didn't he also say something to the effect of "***** he hits hard", and Merchant looked at each other like WTF are you doing?
- RobertJoseph17, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7Oscar's not gonna fight another Mexican for his last match. This is the biggest fight he could have made, and I've already taken the weekend off to go to Vegas to watch it.
- dropd2na, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7sounds like the pacman gets to add another W (by TKO) under his belt
- SnuKs, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6Real talk. He's a no nonsense kinda guy. Takes a real man to admit when he's beaten.
- BA88, on 08/28/2008, -2/+8I miss the good old days when boxing was entertaining and celebrated by the public.
- chihpih, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6im 29 and i care about boxing!
this is gonna be one hell of a fight, it will be manny's biggest pay day ever. i think the most he got for his previous fight was like 5 milz.
de la hoya will earn $60-70 million as a fighter then probably another 50-100 as a promoter (he owns his own promotion company).
he has plenty of money ;) - socalftw, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7Pacquiao will knock Oscar the ***** out. It won't come down to points.
- AmadelaJake, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6Mayweather is retired so Manny took that spot as the #1 pound-for-pound.
- ErickStevenson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5Wow can't wait to watch this fight... We can never tell with Pacquiao, he always gives a good fight. Go Manny! =)
- impokinya, on 08/28/2008, -2/+7de la hoya is a punk. of course he is doing it for the money & because he thinks pacquiao will be an easy fight. if de la hoya really wanted to make his mark he would fight margarito, who has already called him out. but de la hoya won't fight margarito because of the ass whoopin he gave cotto. nobody wants to fight margarito.
- MaynardKx, on 08/28/2008, -3/+8Is Oscar De La Hoya going to fight in fishnets and a nice mini skirt?
- IUAndar, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5You'll never see Mayweather take on a real contender like this.
- FrizzleyFry, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5What are you talking about? Pacquiao is not fighting Hatton. Hatton is fighting Malignaggi It doesn't even mention Hatton in the article.
- otto989, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5Pacquiao's toppled 3 Mexican champions. No way there could be a better sendoff for De La Hoya. if he wins.
go Manny! i'll be watching with lumpia in hand. - mavranos, on 08/28/2008, -2/+7Pacquiao is looking at his Hatton fight as a tune-up for De La Hoya? Hmmm. Pacquiao gets hit A LOT. Wonder how he will deal with the extra pop at welterweight? Guess we'll see. Not like he is undefeated, and a fight with Oscar would be a big payday. LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5Judging by those photos, I'm sure he's quite adept at blowing.
- roxgod666, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5I've never seen a bigger example of talking out of your ass. Thank you, i will use you as an example for many years to come
- xxl3w, on 08/28/2008, -1/+6uhh, you watch de la hoya, so someone must still watch boxing.
- browe07, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Margarito would punish De La Hoya. I can't blame De La Hoya for not fighting him, especially when you can make more money on a much smaller fighter.
- koanage, on 08/28/2008, -2/+6Uhh, no. Oscar is fighting Pacman because casual fans don't understand that it's a joke of a fight. Pac has to move up TWO weights, after only being at the weight he is now for one fight against an average fighter. His last fight before moving up in weight ended in controversy, where most thought he lost or at best got a draw against Marquez. Once Oscar wins, which he should, he will imply that he is a top pound for pound fighter and the uninformed will believe it. Pac isn't on the same planet as far as Floyd in terms of skillfully boxing, avoiding punches, etc. His whole thing is overwhelming dudes that are his size with speed, power and tenacity. Oscar, who has shown an iron chin against guys up to 160lbs won't care much about that. Pac has to fight the perfect fight to have a chance.
If Digg were a boxing focused site, Oscar's reputation would be very similar to GWB. - dandiz, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4oscar reminds me of a boxer in s&m costume.. whappak. go manny!
- BookmasterIce, on 08/28/2008, -2/+6He also wears affliction Thongs ;)
- Waiting2awake, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4There are still awesome fights out there, but you aren't going to get them from the old multimillionaires. There is no hunger there anymore.
But ya, back in the 90's there was some serious HW talent. - supersaiyantoto, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4You're????
- SnuKs, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3If Pacman beats down Oscar who knows.. I'd love to see that!
- thetanman, on 08/28/2008, -1/+4I still can't think about De La Hoya and disassociate him from those cross dressing pics... so weird (wtf?):
http://guanabee.com/2007/09/oscar-de-la-hoya-techn ... - ErickStevenson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3Geez.... are all asians suppose to be Chinese? He is Filipino, from the Republic of the Philippines, check your map guy, might see other Asian countries besides China/Japan....
- impokinya, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3thank you, finally someone who knows a thing or two about boxing.
- cbc22, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3he's from the Philippines
- SDM187, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3I think its de la hoya who should be concerned about the extra pop from manny's weight. every time manny has stepped up in class he's been just as strong, if not stronger than the class before. also, his 2 losses were from like 10 years ago when he was still fighting in the philipines, had no real training and was caught on counter punches while coming in. lucky shots. no way oscar can swing that left hook out fast enough to catch manny off balance like that now. no way. did anyone even see his last fight? de la hoya struggles to beat anyone these days. when's the last big de la hoya fight that he actually won?? vargas was 7 years ago...
- giraffedude, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3de la hoya has no chance. while he WAS an unbelievable boxer, pacquiao is just too quick.
home for dinner. - kenedamick, on 08/28/2008, -1/+4UFC is a played out joke and won't last nearly as long as professional boxing. Who wants to see couple of bare-footed shirtless guys in a tender embrace for 10 minutes?
- jun2san, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3Eat him like balut.
- browe07, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3Its gonna be like Roy Jones Jr. vs. John Ruiz. I think Pac-Man will probably win by decision, but I gotta wonder what all the weight gain in the last couple years is gonna do to his career in the future.
Anyway pretty good choice by De La Hoya. He's got a decent shot to pull it off and it will seem like quite the achievement if he does. - godric21ph, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3Mayweather should come out of retirement and fight the Pacman
